The entrance of Jesus giveth light; Jesus gives understanding unto the simple! Amen and amen!! Good morning, dear reader! The Lord Jesus Christ came into this world in order to give us light in the darkness where sin has crept in. Sin entered and the beautiful fellowship between God and man ceased and the darkness of sin filled the heart. Oh how very sad that we enter this world with a sin nature. We are pre-disposed to sin because of the fall of man through Adam and Eve.

The very thought that the King of Kings had to leave His heavenly throne in order to bring light once again into the heart of man displays a love that no man can comprehend. Without this light, we are destined to spend an eternity in a dark, burning and painful hell. There is no other that not only promises light but actually provides that light!

Joh 8:12  Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Joh 9:5  As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
Joh 12:46  I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

Before salvation, I never thought once about the darkness of my sin. I never thought about eternity nor how to find salvation. I had been led astray by a false gospel and followed it blindly. Think about this for a moment. A blind person sees no light but only utter darkness … all the time! This coincides with those who are lost. We are to be that light to those who are blindly following the god of this world, the devil. When we have been born again, we become that light to the world! We point the lost to Jesus Christ, the Saviour of mankind!

Mat 5:14  Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Jesus is wonderful: therefore doth my soul keep Him!!!!! Christian, you and I have a responsibility to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and His wonderful gift of salvation. Anyone who has been plucked from near death by a police officer or fighter and that hero died in the line of duty protecting you, has a clear understanding of what Christ did. The police officer or fighter saved one, maybe even a few, from death while giving his/her own life. But Jesus died for all mankind so that we can live forever, not just in this lifetime on earth. Jesus took on all the world’s sins on Himself and paid the price and judgment for you and I! You must understand how important it is for you and I to share this wonderful gift! Yes, it’s a gift. John 3:16 makes that clear that this gift, Jesus Christ, that gives us eternal life! Once my soul is converted to Christ, my soul keeps Him for all eternity. I am His and I am secure in Him!

Joh 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Eph 2:8-9  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  (9)  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

God’s promises of eternal life never go away. God is truth. God is Holy. He does not renege on His promises. He doesn’t take His gift back. There are many proponents who say that we can lose our salvation. But I propose to you, friend, that the one who claims salvation and then falls away without coming back never had salvation to begin with.

Here are some verses that prove out that our salvation is secure in Jesus Christ. I hope this helps those who think you can give up your salvation. However as you will read below in John 10:28, that no man can pluck you out of Jesus’ hand once you are saved. If this person gave up his salvation, he was not saved to begin with. That person is included in the “neither shall any [man] pluck them out of my hand.

John 6:37 – All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

John 10:28 – And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any [man] pluck them out of my hand.

John 5:24 – Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Romans 11:29 – For the gifts and calling of God [are] without repentance.

Jude 1:24 – Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present [you] faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

1 John 5:13 – These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

2 Corinthians 1:22 – Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

Rom 8:38-39  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,  (39)  Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Philippians 1:6 – Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform [it] until the day of Jesus Christ:

1Jn 5:10-13  He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.  (11)  And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.  (12)  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.  (13)  These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Wherever you are in this world, God has allowed you to be there for one sole purpose and that is to tell others about Christ. Even if you are housebound during this pandemic, you can reach out to the lost through emails, cards and letters, phone calls, etc. Or you can do as I do and start a blog of your own and share it with the lost. You can put tracts in bathrooms, self check out counters at the store, with tips/receipts at restaurants, etc. We have a slew of different methods at our fingertips, friend. Don’t be complacent with your faith. If you can’t be bold in speech, then be bold in quiet action. Not everyone can be a great evangelist, but everyone has the ability to reach out somehow to someone about Jesus. Remember, the Parable of the Talents – the believers were welcomed into Heaven with praise “Well done thou good and faithful servant.” But the unbeliever who did nothing with the wonderful gift God has given to mankind went to eternal punishment! Let’s do our best to reach the lost no matter what method we use!

Therefore I esteem Jesus concerning all things to be right, and I hate every false way. Good morning, reader! Today’s verse is more or less a continuation of my last post on verse 127. The world is filled with false religions and movements that claim their beliefs will lead followers to the truth. In essence, these movements and false religions are cults. With the Internet at our fingertips, we can easily type “known cults” in the search bar and find a ton of information. The ones that appear at the top in the search results are truly bizarre. One would wonder how someone could fall for these cults. As blatantly deceiving as these are, what concerns me are those religions which are not considered cults at all! Their religion is based on a smidgen of truth but are far from salvation!

Pro 14:12  There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Don’t you wonder why God would put this verse in the scriptures? Think of it, I’m sure the Beatles thought they were getting truth during their search in India. I’m sure catholics think they are receiving truth but in actuality, they are being led astray. It may seem that I’m picking on the catholic church but I’m truly not. It’s because I was raised catholic and that was all that I knew. But catholicism isn’t the only religion out there that is leading searchers astray. So what should one be watching out for if they’re afraid they are in a religion that should be considered cult? What are some guidelines? What are some characteristics?

  • Is that religion claiming they have a “new truth”? Rev. Moon did so with the Unification Church. The scriptures has 237 occurrences of the word “truth.” Truth can be found within its pages and one need not look for a “new truth.” Jesus said,
    • Joh 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
  • Does the religion have another source of authority other than the bible?
    • The catholic church has the magisterium and what the pope and the council claim supersedes the bible. This can be seen in the “Dogmatic Constitution on the Church.” A good example for this is that they consider Mary mediatrix. The bible clearly states that Jesus is the only mediator between God and man. So Mary cannot be co-mediator. The bible also states in this verse that Jesus gave himself a ransom for all. Therefore, Mary cannot be co-redemptrix.
      • 1 Ti 2:5-6  For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;  (6)  Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
    • The Mormons believe that the bible is God’s word but only if it’s translated correctly. They have the Book of Mormon and the Pearl of Great Price and Doctrines and Covenants which supersede the scriptures.
    • Christian Science believes that Mary Baker Eddy’s writings are superior to the scriptures and they consider the bible as corrupt and inferior writings.
  • Does the religion preach “another Jesus”? 2 Co 11:4  For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
    • Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that Jesus is not God but He was Michael the Archangel.
    • The Mormons believe that Jesus is one of many gods, conceived by a union between the Father and a heavenly-mother.
  • Cults are led by men who claim to be messengers of God and that they have a special and unique access to Him.
  • Does the religion preach that salvation is by works? All cults attach “something” to achieve salvation. It is never by salvation alone through Jesus Christ. Eph 2:8-9  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  (9)  Not of works, lest any man should boast.
    • Catholicism teaches salvation by works in their canons (Canon 24).
    • The Worldwide Church of God, founder Herbert Armstrong, says it’s a process.
  • Does the religion prophecy futuristic events that don’t come to past?
    • Jehovah’s Witnesses have a slew of false claims – a simple Google search will list them all.

This list is only a tiny look at what one should look out for when searching. The word of God, through the scriptures, is the only thing you need.

Joh 5:39  Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Act 17:11  These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Jesus taught us to search the scriptures as they testify of Him. He is the only way to Heaven, friend. As seen in Acts 17:11, the Bereans were considered “more noble” because they received the word with all readiness of mind (the preaching of the Apostles) but it did not stop there. That verse continues to say that they searched the scriptures daily to make sure that what they heard preached, matched what the scriptures said. They didn’t take a man’s word for it, even though those words came from an Apostle! They made sure that they were being taught the truth.

Speaking as a former catholic, I can honestly say that in all my 25 years of catholicism, I was never encouraged to read my bible to make sure that what I was being taught by my priest was according to God’s word! Therefore I love Jesus above gold, yea, above fine gold! The first thing I thought about was the Parable of the Pearl of Great Value when I read this verse. Jesus taught us what kind of passion this individual had in his search for the pearl of great price. He searched the world over! Is our passion for Jesus even close to the merchant in this parable? We must search our heart in order to make this comparison.

Mat 13:45-46  Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: 46  Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it. 

It’s a short parable but packs a wallop, doesn’t it? It’s only two verses but it speaks volumes! Jesus is talking about the kingdom of heaven and how it is sought by a pearl merchant. He apparently has been traveling near and far in order to find that perfect pearl. Let’s delve in and glean from this simple parable. Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary defines “merchant” as:

A man who trafficks or carries on trade with foreign countries, or who exports and imports goods and sells them by wholesale.

This merchant went all over to find those pearls. Let’s compare this merchant to someone who is searching for spiritual truth. Someone who is searching for God wants to know how to get to heaven. In one’s search, he will research all kinds of religions to find the right one. I remember prior to my salvation loving the Beatles. Wikipedia states:

In February 1968, the English rock band the Beatles travelled to Rishikesh in northern India to take part in a Transcendental Meditation (TM) training course at the ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. The visit followed the group’s denunciation of drugs in favour of TM[1] and received widespread media attention. The band’s interest in the Maharishi’s teachings was led by George Harrison‘s commitment,[2][3] and it changed Western attitudes about Indian spirituality and encouraged the study of Transcendental Meditation.[4] The visit was also the most productive period for the Beatles’ songwriting.

But one must remember that religions can be quite deceptive. Although the Beatles denounced drugs at this point (which is a good thing), they replaced it with something far more dangerous! Transcendental Meditation causes a person to “open their minds” to allow “enlightenment” to enter. However, this enlightenment is not from God. The devil disguises “spiritual truth” in many different ways.

Pro 14:12  There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Mat 24:23-24  Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.  (24)  For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

How can one know for sure he’s not being deceived? The bible says that Satan is transformed into an “angel of light”! He causes the seekers of truth to see what appears to be “the truth” but is far from the truth.

2 Co 11:13-15  For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.  (14)  And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.  (15)  Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

When I was 24 or 25 years old, I started my search. I was raised Roman Catholic and knew that my heart was empty and cold. There was no spiritual spark in me and I really wanted the truth. I read Nostradamus’ writings; I joined a bible study at my place of business; I searched catholic writings in hopes to find answers. The bible study leader actually thought that I was born again because I was a master of foolery! 🙁 I don’t say this proudly but with much shame. Although I was a “good catholic,” I was truly far from knowing God and who He is or even living a godly life! But, friend, I was living the catholic life. I was doing all the right things that the church taught me. But living the catholic life and living according to the scriptures are two extremely different things. Like the Beatles, I was deceived by religion. Although my religion appeared to be “of God,” it was very far from God.

I liken my search for God to this pearl merchant.

Rom 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

As I was searching for my pearl of great price, God sent a dear friend to lead me to Him using the truth of the scriptures. Jesus said, Joh 17:17  Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. Through the scriptures, I learned what I needed to do to enter the kingdom of heaven. It was plain – it was simple – even a child could understand how.

Mat 19:14  But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

This pearl of great price cost me nothing but it cost Jesus Christ everything! Jesus Christ, the King of kings, left His heavenly throne and took on the form of man. He lived a sinless life in order to fulfill the scriptures that a spotless lamb had to be sacrificed to atone for the sins of the Jews. Jesus, the spotless (sinless) Lamb of God, died a cruel death on the cross to shed His own blood. It is Christ’s blood that covers the sins of man and saves man from an eternity in hell. Jesus rose from the dead and now reigns in Heaven until His return. In order to achieve salvation, one must accept Christ as Saviour – His gift of salvation, the Pearl of Great Price. What a beautiful picture!

1 Pe 1:18-23  Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;  (19)  But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:  (20)  Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,  (21)  Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.  (22)  Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:  (23)  Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

After I accepted Jesus as my Saviour, my life changed! I was different and everyone who knew me saw it. The old Kate was no longer doing those things that dishonored my Saviour. Instead, my heart was being changed daily by the work of the Holy Spirit. With this changed heart, I grew in knowledge of the scriptures and eagerly applied them to my life.

2Co 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

There is joy that comes with salvation, friend. It’s a joy knowing that you no longer have to worry about your eternal destination! You are guaranteed heaven because Christ purchased it for you! It has nothing to do with anything you can possibly do. If it did, you could brag on how you got there. The scriptures clearly show us that it is a gift from God and not of works, amen? After one is saved, that person’s life will most definitely change! If he stole, he will make restitution and steal no more. If he lied, he will be honest with the one he lied to and lie no more. That life is changed by the Holy Spirit who resides within the new believer and the Holy Spirit will teach the new believer from God’s word.

Eph 2:8-9  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  (9)  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Rom 14:17  For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void Jesus! Good morning, friend! Spring is in the air and joy fills my heart! The days are getting longer which gives us more time to enjoy nature in its beauty! The crocuses are starting to pop up and trees are budding more and more! Oh how I love this season and all that it represents! The Holy Spirit’s work in my heart is very similar to Spring’s beauty. He digs deep and reveals to me what I need to do to be closer to my Saviour!

Sadly, it is not so with most of the world today! The heart of man has become cold and is growing colder by the day. It is as if their hearts are stuck in Winter and are not willing to experience the new birth in Christ! We are most assuredly experiencing the signs of the end times.

2 Ti 4:3-4  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;  (4)  And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Jesus Christ is ridiculed on social media, television and the internet. People don’t want to hear about salvation any more. I can remember back in the 1980’s when I was first born again; we would walk from house to house and talk to folks about salvation. Now, it is a dangerous thing to do. Even people who were Christians in name only don’t want to discuss their salvation. It is quite sad to see such a falling away. We are quite close to the end-time period of the scriptures. The bible talks about a great falling away which will happen before the antichrist is revealed.

2 Th 2:3  Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

Can you not see this happening right now, reader? The world has gone crazy, it seems.

Isa 5:20-23  Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!  (21)  Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!  

The world thinks they have all the answers but those answers are far from being scriptural! God will not be mocked!

Gal 6:7  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Those who refuse Jesus Christ as Saviour will not be able to enter the gates of Heaven. Look at the sins below, reader. Unless you are a born again child of the King, you cannot enter Heaven unless you repent of these sins! The born again believer has been bought with a price, which was Christ’s death on the cross! He paid the debt for our sins and it is by His righteousness that we are sanctified in God’s eyes. Not our own. We are justified through Christ. Once I accept His saving gift, it’s just as if I never sinned! My salvation is all because of Him! If you are not bound for Heaven, then there is only one other place where you can go, and that is Hell.

1 Co 6:9-11  Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,  (10)  Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.  (11)  And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Are you guilty of any of these? Are you disturbed that your are destined for Hell? Is the thought of the possibility of going to Hell even stirring up anxiousness in your heart? It’s a very real place and it is not the figment of someone’s imagination. You will live eternally, reader. It is your choice as to where you will spend eternity.

Rev 21:8  But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Mat 10:28  And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

1 Pe 5:8  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Mat 25:46  And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

The world doesn’t want to think about eternity. They are more interested in the here and now and how they can satisfy their flesh (their wants and desires) with the things the world has to offer. But eternity brings two destinations with it: everlasting punishment in the lake of fire and brimstone or life eternal in Heaven!

So which is it, reader? Where will you spend eternity? My blog is filled with page after page showing how to be saved from this eternal punishment. Or, you can leave me a comment asking how to be saved and I will respond quickly. Don’t let this important question go unanswered. Eternity is too long and Hell’s fires is too hot. Why spend eternity there?

I am thy servant, give me understanding, that I may know Jesus! Oh yes!! I want to know more about Jesus – I want to know as much as I can about my Saviour! Why would one want to get into a relationship and not know anything about the person they are involved with? When you start dating someone, you ask questions and you learn as much as you can about the person who may be your future spouse, correct? It should be the same when you are born again!

The Apostle Peter encourages believers to get to know Jesus so that we can be kept from the errors of the world. When the world sets into a believer, the believer loses his steadfastness! He becomes complacent and sin creeps into his life.

2Pe 3:17-18  Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.  (18)  But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

The bible is filled with instruction and the Holy Spirit will teach us and inspire us to live for Christ. The word of God is ready to point out our sins, to correct us and provide us with the doctrine of God, not of man. The Christian who depends on the scriptures for all these is a Christian who is equipped and furnished to be a testimony to the unbelieving world.

2Ti 3:16-17  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  (17)  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

It is these same scriptures that dig deep into the heart of man to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. The word of God says it is sharper than any twoedged sword! I picture one edge of the sword to painfully cut out sin and the other edge heals as it is pulled out. That same word of God discerns our very thoughts and intents and, therefore, can guide us down a righteous path!

Heb 4:12  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 

Psalm 1 depicts what happens to the individual who is guided by God’s word. Read it and let it permeate the very depth of your heart! It is through God’s word that we come to know His personality, His character and how much He loves us: so much so, that He sent us Christ to pay for our debt of sin. Get to know Christ personally! Read your bible and allow it to fill your mind and heart!

Psa 1:1-6  Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  (2)  But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.  (3)  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.  (4)  The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.  (5)  Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.  (6)  For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Deal with thy servant according unto thy mercy, and teach me Jesus! It’s a beautiful Spring day and all of nature surrounding me is reflecting the newness that this season brings with it! As Christians we can see God in every aspect of our lives, amen? He is in the midst of all of His creation! If we have an open heart, we can be taught something by observing nature! Christ didn’t leave Christians empty-handed, my friend!

Joh 14:26  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Christ left His Spirit to guide us, teach us and to glorify Him! The Holy Spirit’s job is not to bring glory to Himself, as some believe. The bible is quite clear on this. He is to bring glory to Jesus Christ, the Saviour of mankind!

Joh 16:13-14  Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.  (14)  He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Notice verse 14? It says that the Holy Spirit shall glorify Christ and then there’s a colon. That means the sentence is not complete. The verse continues to say that the Holy Spirit will receive what Jesus gives Him and the Holy Spirit will show it to us. It is the Holy Spirit who teaches us about Jesus, friend! Today’s verse really opens up when we look at it in this light, amen? Whatever we want to learn about Christ, the Holy Spirit will show us in the scriptures. What a blessing it is for Christians today in this world of uncertainty. We can turn to the bible and glean what the Holy Spirit is trying to teach us. As stated in John 14:26 above, the Holy Spirit is also known as the Comforter! Praise the Lord that Christ did not leave us without help!

Why not tap into the wonderful Comforter that Jesus left us? He is the One that can show you through the scriptures what will bring you peace! I absolutely love Psalm 121! Verse 2 says:

Psa 121:2  My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

The bible uses the word LORD in capital letters to depict JEHOVAH, according to Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary. It lists the meaning of Jehovah as:

In scripture, the Supreme Being; Jehovah. When Lord, in the Old Testament, is prints in capitals, it is the translation of JEHOVAH, and so might, with more propriety, be rendered. The word is applied to Christ, Psa 110. Col 3. and to the Holy Spirit, 2 Th 3.

Take a moment and read the entire Psalm:

Psa 121:1-8  A Song of degrees. I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.  (2)  My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.  (3)  He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.  (4)  Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.  (5)  The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.  (6)  The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.  (7)  The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.  (8)  The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

The LORD (Jehovah, the Supreme Being) is also the Holy Spirit who teaches us about Jesus Christ! The Three in One is diligently watching over His child. Notice that the Christian can rely on Christ’s work on the cross to preserve his soul and keep me forever more? The Supreme Being, Jehovah and the great Three in One, is there for you to lean on during these times in your life where you need help, comfort and direction.

1 Jn 5:7  For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

The Holy Spirit glorifies Jesus Christ by teaching us all about Him. He draws unbelievers to Christ through the bible, preachers and with every Christian the unbeliever comes into contact. Let the Holy Spirit guide and direct you, Christian so you can lead others to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ! It is by God’s mercy that we can be saved, once for all!

1 Pe 1:3-5  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4  To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5  Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Praise the Lord that we are kept by the power of God and that not of ourselves, amen?

Bible Verse of the Day - Daily Scripture, Daily Devotions

Mine eyes fail for thy salvation, and for Jesus! Spring is in the air, friend! I’m so excited to see the buds on the trees and little crocus leaves coming out of the ground!! A brand new day in a brand new season! It’s as though we are experiencing a new beginning when Spring arrives, isn’t it?

I don’t know who said this, but It is said that “the eyes are the window to the soul.” However, the Scriptures have a lot to day about the eyes:

Psa 146:8  The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind: the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous:

Psa 19:8  The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

Every human being is given an opportunity to be saved. Our eyes and heart search for answers but we are deceived and led down numerous paths in order to find the truth. Jesus Christ is the center of salvation! He alone opens the eyes of those who are seeking for salvation! There is no other way to get to heaven. You can be as religious as you can be, just as the Pharisees, but that won’t get you into heaven, reader. The bible says there is only one way.

Joh 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Joh 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The Pharisees didn’t believe that Jesus was their Messiah. They still don’t today! The Jews are still waiting for their Messiah. Jesus Christ is the Messiah for all races and religions. There is no one that will be exempt!

Php 2:9-11  Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:  (10)  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;  (11)  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Amen and amen! There will come a reckoning one day, dear reader! Whether it be now when you are yet living or when you have died. You can know if your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life right now! You don’t have to hope that it is. Salvation is not “hope so”! One can know now! The phrase “book of life” is recorded once in the Epistles and seven times in the Book of Revelation alone! Seven is God’s number for perfection and perfect salvation is given to us by Jesus Christ! A total of eight verses speak of the book of life. Eight is the number for new beginnings.

Php 4:3  And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.
Rev 3:5  He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Rev 13:8  And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Rev 17:8  The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
Rev 20:12  And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Rev 20:15  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Rev 21:27  And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
Rev 22:19  And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Is your name written in the book of life? Once you are born again, your name is written in that book! You don’t have to wait until you are dead. At salvation, you actually start your walk through eternity, making your way from your earthly home to your heavenly home! Notice in Php 4:3, Clement and Paul’s fellowlabourers’ names were already written in the book of life. Praise God! We can know now!

When one is born again, that is the start of a new beginning in a person’s life! Once we are born again, we have a new life that has been given to us by Christ! His death, burial and resurrection covered it all! He provided salvation so we could live a new life in Him!

Rom 6:4  Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Friend, if you do not have assurance of your salvation, get the assurance! If you depend on your church or good works to get you to heaven, stop! There is nothing, I repeat nothing, that you can do yourself that will let you into heaven!

Eph 2:8-9  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  (9)  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

If you could get into heaven by your good works or following the laws and rules of your church, it would not be a gift given to you by God. You would be able to pat yourself on the back and say (much like the Pharisees) “look what I’ve done”! Our good deeds and obedience to our church is considered filthy in the eyes of a righteous and holy God!

Isa 64:6  But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

So why would you think that obedience to a religion would get you into heaven? Everything we do to achieve salvation on our own and by our own works, is filthy rags in the eyes of God. That is why salvation is a gift from God! He knew we could not possibly get to heaven by our own “good” works. We needed a perfect substitution, which is Christ the Lamb of God!

Easter is around the corner and it’s a good time to meditate on why Christ had to come to earth to suffer a cruel death to pay our penalty for sins! Psalm 119:122 Be surety for your servant for good: let not ...

Be surety for thy servant for Jesus: let not the proud oppress me! Good morning, reader! Spring is in the air in Central Virginia and it’s a welcomed sight, indeed! I love Spring! It’s symbolic of our new life in Jesus and old things are passed away, behold all things have become new!

2 Co 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

We are so blessed to be able to start fresh, much like what Spring symbolizes! God used His creation to teach us about Him. Today’s verse doesn’t depict the usual words that Christ fulfilled. However, Jesus is God and therefore Jesus is Good, amen?

Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Mar 10:18  And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

The word surety is interesting in today’s verse. David believed without a doubt that God was his foundation and support during those days when David was oppressed. David was sure of this! Just as sure as I am that Christ is our very foundation and in Him we have eternal life as He promised. Jesus spoke of eternal life and it is so important for man to know that he can have this life for all eternity. The phrase “eternal life” is mentioned 26 times in the New Testament. That phrase is not used in the Old Testament, which I find quite interesting. The New Covenant that Christ made with mankind provides this eternal life through Jesus’ shed blood on the cross!

The work of the cross is complete and there needs no other step to be made in order for us to be saved, friend! He is the only way! The world would have you to be oppressed. How much more are we oppressed today in our political climate? Noah Webster defines that word as:

OPPRESS’, v.t. [L. appressus, from opprimo; ob and premo, to press.]

To load or burden with unreasonable impositions; to treat with unjust severity, rigor or hardship; as, to oppress a nation with taxes or contributions; to oppress one by compelling him to perform unreasonable service.

To overpower; to overburden; as, to be oppressed with grief.

to sit or lie heavy on; as, excess of good oppresses the stomach.

The mainstream media has succeeded in oppressing the viewers. So much so, that Americans are sucked into believing their lies. In doing so, they are led down the path of oppression! But we have freedom in Christ! We have that surety that He is still in control and nothing takes Him by surprise! He does not oppress us but encourages us!

Isa 55:10-11  For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:  (11)  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Php 4:7  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Joh 14:27  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Don’t be troubled, my friend. Don’t let the world oppress you! Let the light of God’s word encourage you and teach you how to make it through these times without falling apart. Be strong in your faith! Remember Who you are serving!

Deu 31:6  Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Realizations of Truth - The Conservative Christian Apologist

I have done Jesus (judgment and Jesus (justice): leave me not to mine oppressors. Good morning, reader! I’m praying that this series in Psalm 119 is as much of a blessing to you as it is to me 🙂 To refresh your memory, I was challenged by my Sunday School teacher many years ago, to highlight the following words in Psalm 119 because Jesus is the embodiment of each of those words as the Word of God:

  • the law
  • testimonies
  • way
  • precepts
  • judgment
  • justice
  • statutes
  • commandments
  • word

We then replace these words with “Jesus” because He is the fulfillment of all these.

Today’s verse sounds a bit different but to me it makes total sense. Jesus will judge mankind by his word! That is why He is called the Word of God. He will also bring justice! Amen?

As we read through the Old Testament about David, we find that he gave judgment and justice. He made sure that the sentences he gave were carried out. This verse pleads with God not to leave him to his oppressors. David had been doing what was right and hoped he would be delivered from those who would want to do David wrong.

Jesus taught us so much in the word! The Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5:2-12, lists the blessings we can received:

Mat 5:2-12  And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,  (3)  Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.  (4)  Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.  (5)  Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.  (6)  Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.  (7)  Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.  (8)  Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.  (9)  Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.  (10)  Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.  (11)  Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.  (12)  Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Even though you may live according to the Sermon on the Mount, you will more than likely have oppressors. I do! Some of my family are very worldly and think I’m a fanatic for being born again. The Lord promises to help us through these trials of persecution. It’s not wrong to ask Him for help, just as David did!

My flesh trembleth for fear of thee, and I am afraid of Jesus. Are you afraid today, reader? What is it that puts anxiety in your heart? All the problems in the world cannot weigh your heart down more than your relationship with God. That is the center of today’s verse. David feared the Lord. It’s not the type of fear that one experiences when his life is in danger or some similar situation. This fear is defined by Noah Webster as:

In scripture, fear is used to express a filial or a slavish passion. In good men, the fear of God is a holy awe or reverence of God and his laws, which springs from a just view and real love of the divine character, leading the subjects of it to hate and shun every thing that can offend such a holy being, and inclining them to aim at perfect obedience. This is filial fear.

This holy awe that is spoken of in today’s verses should bring a realization that the Lord is a mighty, holy and righteous God and everything lies exposed without anything hidden.

Luk 8:17  For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.

This fear should move us to hate what God hates; to live a life that is pleasing to Him. This same reverence should compel us to live according to His word.

Next David says that he is afraid of God’s judgment. Our reverence for God, this holy awe, opens the heart to realize that there are consequences to the path that we chose to walk in life. God knows every detail; He knows our motives; He knows what lies deepest in our hearts. Remember, nothing is hidden. This should be an eye opener!

Ecc 3:17  I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

Noah Webster defines “afraid” as:

AFRA’IDadjective [The participle of affray.] Impressed with fear or apprehension; fearful. This word expresses a less degree of fear than terrified or frightened. It is followed by of before the object of fear; as, to be afraid of death. Joseph was afraid to sin against God.

We must possess this holy awe, this fear, of God in order to clearly repent from our sins. I had a wonderful relationship with my Dad. I loved him so much but I knew that when he gave me the “eye,” I’d better do as I was told. I wasn’t afraid of my Dad. I knew that he would never do anything to harm me because he loved me. However, if I did do something wrong, I was afraid of the consequences. To every action, there is an opposite reaction. Therefore, my sin brought a reaction from my Dad and I would be punished. These punishments never caused me to question my Dad’s love for me nor did it affect my love for him. This is a good analogy of God’s judgments. He loves us dearly and only wants what is best for us.

Jesus did what no other could do, my friend! God realized that man could not keep the commandments and man’s sins would lead to the annihilation of all mankind. God’s love for His creation was so great that He presented to man a beautiful gift. That gift was His precious Son, Jesus Christ. The gift is Christ’s payment for the penalty of our sin! He took on our punishment so we would not have to! Is it any wonder that Jesus is the only way to Heaven? It is because of Him that we can receive eternal life.

2Co 9:15  Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

Rom 11:29  For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

Rom 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Oh dear reader, God’s gift of salvation through Jesus Christ is ours for the asking. Once we accept this precious Gift, God does not take it away. Romans 11:29 tells us that the acceptance of His salvation through Jesus Christ is without God’s repentance. The fear and holy awe is a result of our coming to a knowledge of this saving grace in our lives. It is this same fear and holy awe that keeps us from sin as well as moves us to lead others away from the awful judgment that comes for those who don’t accept this unspeakable Gift!!

Won’t you open your heart to God’s word and let His Spirit write the name of the King of Kings on it? Your eternity depends on it!

Psalm 119:119 | Two Sparrows Press

Thou puttest away all the wicked of the earth like dross: Therefore I love Jesus!!! Good morning, reader! The frigid temperatures have caused me to reflect on the blessings which the Lord provides to me on a daily basis! My day’s agenda is jam packed with tasks but I’m so grateful that I have the health to do them. I have laundry because I have clothes. I have dishes because I have eaten. I have housework because I have a warm house to live in during these cold days! There is always something for which to be grateful, amen?

Today’s verse is quite sobering because there are so many souls who have no idea that they will be “put away” by God. :'( It challenges me to work diligently at this blog and to be a light to those I come in personal contact with every day. Dross is the impure matter and worthless part that is thrown away during the refining process of a metal, like silver. With that in mind, reflect on today’s verse. God puts away the sinners of the earth like a refiner discards dross. There comes a time in everyone’s life where we must stand before God to give an account for our lives.

Rom 14:11-12  For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.  (12)  So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

This is no small matter, friend! It is a very serious one indeed. It all boils down to whether or not you have believed in faith that Jesus Christ is God; that He came to earth; lived a sinless life; died on a cross for the forgiveness of our sins; and arose from the grave on the third day. There is no other way.

Joh 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Act 4:12  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

1 Ti 2:5  For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

2 Co 4:4-5  In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.  (5)  For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.

Joh 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Joh 3:36  He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

As you can see, there will be no excuses for you to give God. He has given the opportunity for all to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. There is no other way. There is no other name. There are no excuses. With the knowledge provided on the internet, one has the opportunity to search out these matters. God puts the information out there. Even a native in the deepest forests of South America or Africa have an opportunity to hear when they are searching. God knows their heart and He will send a missionary or believer to show that native the way. God sends people in anyone’s path to explain the Gospel of Christ. Think for a moment … there was a time in your life where you heard the Gospel. If there hasn’t been a moment like this, then consider this blog post your “moment.”

Jesus promises salvation to you if you call on Him!

Rom 10:13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

This verse doesn’t say that you can “hope” for salvation, as all religions teach. Jesus says you shall (not might) be saved when you call upon Him. The Lord doesn’t want you to perish and be cast away like dross. He wants you to be saved.

2 Pe 3:9  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Bible Verse of the Day - Daily Scripture, Daily Devotions

Thou has trodden down all them that err from Jesus: for their deceit is falsehood. Good morning, reader! I’m praying that your day is off to a good start and that the Lord of Lords is at the center of your life. If you’re starting your day in God’s word, you are putting Him first. That’s always a good start. David not only started his day with the Lord, but he sought Him in prayer three times.

Psa 55:17  Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

David prayed three times during his day, fully confident that the Lord would hear him. This verse doesn’t say “in hopes he shall hear my voice.” No indeed! The verse clearly says he SHALL hear my voice. The Lord awaits my prayers so I can take the burdens off my heart and place those prayers into His capable hands. What a Saviour! What a Shepherd! He is the Shepherd of my soul, friend! He is my ever present Guide!

Can you say the same? Today’s verse tells us that the soul who doesn’t heed the scriptures will be trodden down by God.

Mat 22:29  Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
Mar 12:24  And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
Mar 12:27  He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.
Heb 3:10  Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
Jas 1:16  Do not err, my beloved brethren.
Jas 5:19-20  Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; 20  Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins. 

Deceiving a soul and keeping him from the scriptures is a lie from the father of lies! The devil would love nothing more than to keep you from the scriptures wherein dwells the truth.

Joh 8:44  Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

There are no errors in the bible. Nothing needs to be added because the truth of the scriptures is all you need. Many religions have an “extra” book that is added to the scriptures or supersedes the bible, like Mormonism and Catholicism. The father of lies deceives those who do not search the scriptures for answers. Instead, they search out answers from others who doubt God’s word.

The bible is complete and has all the information we need to find salvation and how to live our lives. The validity of the scriptures is amazing! I have in my notes the following information which I took down during a bible conference I attended:

To answer the question what is the probability of one man fulfilling all eight prophecies of Christ in the Old Testament, the Principle of Probability is applied. This principle is a mathematical formula used by the world today. Therefore, multiplying all eight probabilities together, the outcome is 1028 or 1 in 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000!!!

Given these odds and the amount of years between each of the writings in the Old Testament and Christ’s fulfillment in the New Testament, I have to believe that these prophecies were given by God to the prophets who wrote them down for us. How could they all pick these prophecies out of the air and be right? and the time span between the writings of the Old Testament and the fulfillment by Christ in the New Testament, the prophecies were either given to the prophets by God, or the prophets just wrote them down as they thought they should be. With Christ fulfilling all eight prophecies, what are the odds the prophets were just guessing?

Can we seriously say that those who doubt would rather believe in “theories” like those of Darwin? His theory of evolution requires more faith than believing the Scriptures! But the world has accepted this “theory” as fact. But there are no facts! No one lived during those early days of earth and wrote about them, except what is in our bible! The bible was once used as a historical book by scientist. Some still do to this day.

Is it any wonder that today’s verse says that God will show justice to those who choose to believe lies? His justice will result in the unbeliever being trodden. That means: to crush under the foot; to trample in contempt or hatred, or to subdue.

If you are reading this and you are “religious,” please take a moment to pray as David did, and ask God to show you the truth. He is faithful to those who seek Him and He will answer you through His word. The bible says that His word is:

Psa 119:89  LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
Psa 119:105  NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psa 119:140  Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.
Psa 119:160  Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.
Joh 17:17  Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

God’s word is settled. Not one person will be able to argue with God because His word is settled! His word is a light that points us to salvation. His word is pure – Noah Webster defines pure as: “Complete in itself; positive; as an absolute declaration.” His word is true. There are no lies within its pages. It is the measuring stick for all of us to judge our heart! And finally, obeying His word sanctifies us through Christ’s blood and sets us apart from the unbelievers.

Don’t be led by a religion, friend, just because it is the religion of your parents. Your parents, nor their church, will have a voice for you in front of the Father when you die and meet Him face-to-face. Nothing they say will keep you from Hell when your judgment is passed. Instead, seek the truth now through the Scriptures because God tells us that His word IS truth! Let His word be your guide. Let Jesus be your guide! He will bring you peace. He is that light of truth and will guide you to peace!

Luk 1:79  To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Hold thou me up, and I shall be safe: and I will have respect unto Jesus continually. Rest in Jesus! I have heard this many times in my 40+ years of salvation. With rest comes the safety from the things in life that scare me. I picture Jesus holding me in His arms and carrying me to safety during the storms of my life.

Psa 37:7  Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

1Pe 5:6-7  Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:  (7)  Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

I love Psalm 37:7 and the way the Psalmist described this rest. He tells us to wait patiently for the Lord. Why? Sometimes we tend to jump the gun and plunge forward with our own devices. But we are encouraged to wait on the Lord patiently! Consulting with God on our plans is always the right thing to do. But it cannot be a one-way conversation. We must wait patiently on Him and let Him speak to us through His word. Three times do we find the phrase “wait on the Lord” in the Scriptures.

Psa 27:14  Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

Psa 37:34  Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

Pro 20:22  Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.

I will wait on Jesus continually and have respect for His words by keeping them and trusting that He knows what is best for me. There is great comfort and peace when I allow Him to take the reins of my life and lead the way. Oh how He loves you and me!! As a father loves a child, we can rest in the knowledge that God loves each one of us more than an earthly father possibly could!

Uphold me according to Jesus, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope!! Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone. There is no other way, friend. As I sit here typing, memories flood of discussions I’ve had with one of my siblings. She was a staunch catholic and could not accept the fact that salvation does not come from being a member of a church. It is not a church that saves but Jesus Christ alone!

Joh 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Heb 12:2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

If we could gain entrance at Heaven’s gates on our own merits, we would be able to be as the Pharisees. They had much knowledge and were the most pious of the Jewish religion. But Jesus called them hypocrites in Matt 23:27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness. It is not the works of our religion that brings salvation. I was raised catholic and I was taught that doing good works and being a member of the Catholic church might allow me entrance to Heaven. But I had to keep all the requirements of the church and that still did not guarantee Heaven. I went to confession regularly, I taught catechism, and did good works. However, I never had the peace that comes with the assurance that I would go to Heaven. I always had a “hope so” faith, not an absolute faith.

Eph 2:8-9  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  (9)  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Friend, only faith in Jesus Christ and His work on the cross will save you. Re-read the above verses in Ephesians. It is by God’s grace that we are saved through faith. It is God’s gift to mankind. If we can work our way to Heaven, then God’s gift is not necessary. Amen?

Look to Jesus and live!

Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep Jesus my God! Good morning, dear reader. I’m so thankful to wake up to a very cold winter’s day in a nice warm house. With my cup of French Vanilla tea, I have the wonderful blessing of sitting down with my bible and communing with the One who died for me! The world can be falling apart around me, but Jesus is always in there right beside me. His Holy Spirit guides and directs me in the paths that I should go. Jesus, the Word of God, leads me in the paths of righteousness (Psalm 23).

Today’s verse exhorts me not to even enter the path of wickedness.

Pro 4:11  I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.

Pro 4:14  Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.

Pro 4:19  The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

God’s word warns me to walk the scriptural path of light and avoid the deeds of darkness. That same Proverb reminds me to “ponder” where I go and that all my ways should be established:

Pro 4:26-27  Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.  (27)  Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.

But exactly what is meant by “established”? Noah Webster clearly defines it.

ESTAB’LISHEDparticiple passive Set; fixed firmly; founded; ordained; enacted; ratified; confirmed.

Am I fixed firmly on Jesus Christ? Is my walk and heart founded on His teachings? If yes, today’s Psalm 119:115 reveals that I am focused on keeping Christ on the throne of my heart and allowing Him to reign instead of me, myself and I. When He reigns in my life, I can say no to the evildoers and stay on the straight path of righteousness. However, as soon as I let “self” sit on that throne, I am noting keeping Christ in my line of sight. I have strayed from the path.

Each day must be started with a prayer asking the Lord to help me keep my eyes on Him. I’ve loved this hymn since the first time I heard it. I pray it is a blessing to you as well. I still tear up when I sing it <3.

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

O soul, are you weary and troubled?

No light in the darkness you see?

There’s light for a look at the Savior,

And life more abundant and free!


Turn your eyes upon Jesus,

Look full in His wonderful face,

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,

In the light of His glory and grace.

Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in Jesus!!!! Oh yesss! Is this one of those days, dear reader, where you feel as though you need a place to escape? Is your heart troubled? Do you need protection from the outside world and its problems? Like you, I have definitely been there! But at times like these, today’s verse tells us exactly what to do: the bible has the answer for every issue in life! We are so blessed to be able to run to the Lord through His word. He provides that hiding place and He shields us from what is bothering us. David used the term “hiding place” twice in the Book of Psalms. The other verse is:

Psa 32:7  Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.

David experienced this need to be so close to God that he knew God would provide him with a blessed sanctuary of peace. We, too, have this wonderful place where we can retreat from the cares of this world. I imagine myself alone in the woods listening to the sounds of nature. The warm rays of sunlight are shining through the branches and I feel the warmth on my face. My Saviour meets me there and sits beside me. I tell Him all about my cares and He listens to me. As I open my bible, He shows me what He wants to tell me. The Book of Psalms has truly been my shield in times like these. I know that God’s words are pure and true! I can wholly trust and lean on the Lord Jesus and I know that He will not misguide me.

Isa 41:10  Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Isa 40:28-31  Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.  (29)  He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.  (30)  Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:  (31)  But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Deu 33:27a  The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms:

Exo 15:2  The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

Jas 1:2-5  My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;  (3)  Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.  (4)  But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.  (5)  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Isn’t that a comfort Christian? Wherever you need to meet with the Lord, do so. He is always available and always ready to listen. He also stands ready to guide you through His word.

Having this kind of relationship builds a hope in Jesus within me. I know that He is my hiding place, my resting place, my Rock, and my deliverer during tough times. Where is my hope? It’s in Jesus Christ the Solid Rock! I love this hymn! It expresses today’s verse quite well, don’t you think? Enjoy 🙂

On Christ the Solid Rock

I hate vain thoughts: but Jesus do I love. Today’s picture is so beautiful! I absolutely love evergreen trees and mountains. To top it off, a blanket of pure white snow covers everything! Evergreens remind me that the Lord’s love is forever (Jer. 31:3) – the mountains majestically rise to remind me where to look for help (Ps. 121:1-2) – and the white snow is a reminder that Christ has made our sins as white as snow (Is. 1:18). What a blessing to open our hearts to these promises first thing in the morning! There’s nothing that can cross my path today that will darken my spirits because I started my day with God’s word!!!

Today’s verse talks about vain thoughts. Vain thoughts come from the divided mind. David says he hates this divided mind but he loves God’s law. I believe that David overpowers his divided mind by concentrating on the word of God. Have you been in his shoes, Christian? I know I have! I’ve experienced this divided mind when my husband was sick. I begged the Lord to heal him but it seemed as though my prayers went unheard. I began to feel despair and doubted that the Lord heard me. This was an example of my divided mind. But the Lord did hear me. He sent His love to me in many various forms: a beautiful and rare white squirrel, a Bible verse (Ps. 121:1-2), and a call from my precious friend in Maine which came just at the right time!

Can’t you see, friend? The Lord showed me the remedy for a divided mind! It is to turn to the One Who saved me and promises to be there when I need Him. He’s there to carry me through those difficult times.

Psa 46:1  God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Isa 41:10  Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

A young lady I once knew had been through a horrible experience in her church. It left her angry and bitter. So bitter that she lashed out to anyone who tried to help her through this trial. The longer this went on, the angrier and more bitter she became. So much so, there was no talking to her to help her through this. Her own studies revealed to her that she was suffering from PTSD from this experience. I’m not doubting that she suffered from this. But I wanted to encourage her to turn to the One Who could bring the peace that she needed. She had this divided mind. Her thoughts were filled with this bitterness and it ate away at her. She fed this bitterness more than she filled her heart with the word of God and she could no longer get the benefit of His healing power through it. These are the vain thoughts spoken of in today’s verse.

Where are your thoughts, Christian? Are they absorbed with the cares of this world? Are you wrapped up in self pity? Are you dealing with a specific trial and can’t stop thinking of it because it consumes every moment of every day? I can’t get comfort from the word of God when I am always thinking of something else, amen? My mind must be filled with Christ and not the cares of this world. This world will consumer me if I don’t keep my eyes on Jesus. I know that I use Psalm 121 over and over in my devotionals. But these verses are the ones that brought me through difficult times and helped me to feed my spirit rather than my “self.”

Are you consumed with vain thoughts, Christian? Do you have a divided mind or do you rely solely on Jesus to help you through each day? Won’t you read this Psalm with me and let it be the healing balm that will lead you to the refreshing waters of God’s word?

All these beautiful promises are there to help you control your thoughts and keep you on the right path!

I have inclined mine heart to perform Jesus, even unto the end. Good morning, reader! Today’s question lies in the location of the heart. What or where does my heart lean toward? Does it lean into the world or into Jesus Christ and His word? It truly is an “either/or” scenario, isn’t it? You’re either looking to the Lord Jesus Christ for everything or to the world, amen? Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary defines “inclined” as:

Do I have the tendency to turn to the One Who knows all things? If I have diabetes, I go to a specialist who deals with such things. I won’t go to a librarian and ask her to look up treatments or do an internet search and treat myself. No, instead I would seek the counsel of an experienced doctor in this field. But, friend, God knows all things! Since I’ve been given the mind of Christ at salvation, I can trust in Him to reveal to me what I need to know! I’m not saying not to go see a doctor if you are ill. For God has provided us with men and women who have knowledge in these areas. What I am saying is rather than turning to another believer or to the world, turn to the One who has the answers to everything under the sun!

1Co 2:16  For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

As a result of running to the Lord in all things, I am inclining my heart toward Him. How long do I do this? As long as I have a breath left in me, I will turn to Him. I will cling to Him so that I can remain by His side. The King James Bible uses the word “cleave” in this instance.

Act 11:23  Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.

So with purpose of heart, let us cleave/cling unto the Lord! Think of the yoke that Jesus says is easy and that His burdens are light. The yoke He refers to has to openings. One opening is for a strong oxen that leads the way and the other is for the weaker oxen. I must let Jesus lead the way rather than trying to pull away from Him. I must cling to Him and He will never lead me astray, my friend!

What a beautiful verse!! I love my Saviour and am so thankful that I have Him to lean against. He carries me in my most difficult of trials. Praise be to God!

Jesus have I taken as an heritage for ever: He is the rejoicing of my heart! Yessss! What a glorious verse we are given this morning! The Word of God has given us eternal because of His shed blood! His testimonies, recorded in the bible, reveal everything about Him. He was there in the beginning, He created everything, He sustains everything, He has redeemed us with His blood, and He will reign King of Kings for all eternity! Hallelujah! Praise Him!

Rev 19:13  And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

Joh 1:1-5  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  (2)  The same was in the beginning with God.  (3)  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.  (4)  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.  (5)  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

I rejoice because He is in control of all things. I rejoice because no matter how horrible the world is today, I know that He will return to rapture His church and will come back to earth to reign! This is encouraging to me and puts joy in my heart!

Rev 1:5-8  And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,  (6)  And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.  (7)  Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.  (8)  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Rejoice with me, Christian. Don’t be anxious and worried! All these things must come to past according to the Scriptures. Instead, be encouraged that nothing that is happening is unexpected with the Lord. He knows all things and He knows what must happen to pave the way for His return!

Luk 21:25-28  And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;  (26)  Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.  (27)  And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.  (28)  And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
