Psalms 119:142 KJV - Thy righteousness is an everlasting

Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and Jesus is the truth! Good morning, dear reader. I pray you are receiving blessings from this study in Psalms 119! It has been an eye opener for me, and I hope for you as well. I’m not sure how many times I’ve referred to the verse below during this devotional, but I know it’s been quite a few times! It helps us to see how Jesus is revealed in the Old Testament and how He has fulfilled Old Testament prophecy in the New Testament. There is no other truth other than Jesus, my friend.

Joh 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

1 Jn 5:20  And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

There is no other way and there is no other truth than Jesus. The Word of God, Jesus Christ, is truth.

Joh 17:17  Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Joh 1:14  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Jesus left us His word in order for us to find truth. The bible is our power here on earth to expose lies and reveal what is true. If what you read, see and hear don’t coincide with the scriptures, then it is not of God. God reveals His wonderful gift of grace to mankind through His Son. Then a seed of faith is planted into each of our hearts. If that seed boroughs deep into our heart, salvation follows and God’s mercy is shown to us through Christ’s wonderful work on the cross. It is our sin that He took on and He became the perfect sacrifice!

1 Jn 2:2  And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Rom 3:25  Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

1 Jn 4:10  Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

That beautiful word “propitiation” is defined by Noah Webster as:

In theology, the atonement or atoning sacrifice offered to God to assuage his wrath and render him propitious to sinners. Christ is the propitiation for the sins of men. Rom 3. 1 John 2.

The Old Testament Covenant was all about God requiring man to offer a sacrifice for his sin. The New Testament Covenant is all about God providing the sacrifice Himself for man’s sin. What a wonderful gift to His creation!

There lies the truth, my friend! Don’t seek truth from a guru. Don’t seek truth from the catholic church. Don’t seek truth from Joseph Smith. These false ways only provide a smidgen of truth in order to attract the seeker. But the scriptures provide all truth and lead you to the only truth, Christ Jesus!
