We believe that the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired by God, inerrant, infallible, immutable, and preserved in the King James Version for the English speaking people, and that it is the supreme and final authority of faith and practice. There are doctrinal differences between the KJV and many newer translations.

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in essence while distinct in personality and function.

We believe in God’s direct creation of the universe without the use of pre-existent material and apart from any process of evolution whatsoever, as according to the Genesis account.

We believe that Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, and is true God and true man.

We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven, and in His present life there as our High Priest and Advocate.

(Matthew 28:1-7; Acts 1:8-11; 1 Corinthians 15:4-9; Hebrews 4:14-16)

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the agent of the New Birth through conviction and regeneration, and that He seals and indwells everyone who trusts Christ as Saviour. We also believe that the Holy Spirit fills and empowers believers, and that He distributes Spiritual gifts to all believers.

Ephesians 1:13 & 2:20 & 4:11-12 & 5:18; Hebrews 2:3-4)

We believe that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and thereby incurred, not only physical death, but also Spiritual death, which is separation from God. All human beings are born with a sin nature and are sinners in thought, word, and deed.

(Genesis 1:26-27 & 3:1-6; Romans 5:12, 19 & 3:10-13, 23)

We believe that Jesus Christ died as the substitutionary sacrifice for all men. The blood atonement He made is unlimited in its potential. It is limited only in its application, effectively saving all those who call upon the name of the Lord in repentance and faith.

(Isaiah 53:4-11; John 3:5-8, 16; II Corinthians 5:14-21, 1 Timothy 4:10; 1 John 2:1-2)

We believe that all who receive, by faith, the Lord Jesus, are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become the children of God.

(John 1:12-13 & 3:3-16; Acts 16:31; Romans 4:5; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5)

We believe in the eternal security of the believer, that it is impossible for one who is born into the family of God, ever to be lost, because he is forever kept by the power of God.

(John 10:28-29; 1 Peter 1:3-5)

We believe in that ‘blessed hope,’ the personal, pre-millennial, pre-tribulational, and imminent return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, when He will gather all believers unto Himself and take them to Heaven.

(John 14:1-3; 1 Corinthians 15:51-58; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-13)

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved and the unsaved, the everlasting blessedness of the saved in Heaven, and the everlasting punishment of the lost in Hell.

    It is a fact, that the doctrine and dogma of the Trinity (which is the profound doctrine of God) was not fully understood nor developed until well after the the lives of the Apostles. In history we can see this rather slow and hard development. See the history of the second century and Terullian. The proper doctrine of the Trinity was not final until the Oecumenical Council’s of Nicaea I (325), which condemned Arianism and declared the Son “consubstantial” with the Father. Also the second Council, Constantinople I (381) which declared the Holy Spirit consubstantial with the Father and the Son.

    Finally, lets not forget the Council of Chalcedon, (451) which declared that Christ was both God and Man, one Person in two natures.

    Yes, the nature of both the doctrine of God triune, and the true and full understanding of the Incarnation, where doctrinally developed in the historical Church.

  3. The Word of God defines the Trinity – there is no need for Councils, etc. for the child of God.

    (Gen 1:26) And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

    (Mat 28:19) Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

    (1Jn 5:7) For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

    Nothing ever came out of the Councils that the Word had not already covered. Whatever DID come out of the Councils that was not to be found in the Scriptures was man made.

    The Word of God is our final authority. We do not have to turn to an earthly “father” or “rabbi” as we have the ultimate Teacher in the Holy Spirit.

    (Joh 14:26) But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

    God’s Word is Truth and is final. Jesus prayed for us that we would have this truth so we may be sanctified – set apart. The Pharisees and Saducees had the Jews bound in tradition and made the Gospel of Christ of none effect. We do not need the traditions of men because we have the Truth through God’s Word – in that we rest as our final authority.

    (Joh 17:15) I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

    (Joh 17:16) They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

    (Joh 17:17) Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

    I am talking about the doctrinal definition of the Trinity of God. This was certainly not yet defined in the Apostles life! The doctrine was there in embryo, as the truth and it’s reality were there…2 Cor. 13:14, etc.

    The word Trinity was a neologism that was first used in its Greek form, “trias”, by Theophilus of Antioch (c.180), but the “doctrine” has been adumbrated in both the Old and New Testaments. It was at the Councils of Nicaea and Constantinople that the doctrine of the Trinity began to take shape, and the Cappadocian Fathers were the first to place a dogmatic face on what had been until then a mystery. It is still a mystery, but has been given depth by the Church. We must note, that the councils here were given on Eastern ground, that is the Orthodox Church! Rome submitted to the truth and authority also. So the idea that the Church of Rome made the doctrine of the Trinity of God is false!

    As I said, Tertullian was the first to defend an orthodox definition of the Trinity in his work: Against Praxeas.

    No dear lady, you cannot divorce the Christian Church and its Doctrine from either development or history! Even the divine scripture did not simply drop out of heaven! It too has its history!

It is amazing that intelligent, honest, caring and pious men will put their trust in what a council of State endorsed, ambitious and religious men have to say rather than simply accepting the Holy Word of God. It is the epitome of arrogance to claim that these men developed a doctrine by their own special wisdom that is clearly taught in the scriptures by God. And it is the height of ignorance to accept for doctrine things that they decree that are not found in the Word of God.

    I know that I have no better than average intelligence but I believe that God has given me enough wisdom to fear Him more than men. And by fear I mean reverential respect and adoration not the fear of bodily harm.

  6. Robert, the early NT believers clearly understood the doctrines of the Trinity and the incarnation, they did not need some ecumenical Roman Catholic church council to develop it for them. You make it sound like they invented the doctrine at that time, rather than defended it against the heresies that arose. Big difference between the two. The only things the “church councils” under Constantine did was create confusion and apostasy.

    The Bible contains all the truth we need – studied with the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit is all we need.

    I do not need to read outside sources, Sir. The Bible is all I need because it contains the truth of God.

    You are right in one regard, if I sounded if the early Church did no “enjoy” the mystery of the incarnation and the Triune God, I stand corrected. My point and argument was the later theological definitions to the Trinity of God, and the aspect to Christ’s “person” as dual in nature, not dual in Person, i.e. Chalcedon. These were very important theologically, as we can see with many non-trinitarian cults today. And as I have written, but the blog editor has not released, the term Trinity was not used in the first century Church. We must own up to this, and admit that the understanding and definitions of the Trinity were later proper developments.

    Finally, you are absolutely wrong as to the whole reality of at least the first seven church councils. They were very necessary. In fact you and I are standing on their shoulders! (Even if you don’t realize it?) See St. John 16:13-15, the doctrine of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Church is still ongoing and very active!

    The Judeo-Christian revelation is not only a living Text, but also the life and reality of the Mystical Body of Christ! See, Acts 2:42 / Heb.12:1…The ‘cloud of witnesses’ includes not only the OT saints, but also the saints and martyrs of the Lord in all ages!
