Thought for the Day – A Quick Getaway – Pull Up A Chair

~Psalms 55:6-8 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest. 7 Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah. 8 I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.

There are days we just need to get away from it all. The trials and stresses of the day seem to be so overwhelming! The Christian is not exempt from the difficulties this world has to offer. There are times where we need a “mountaintop experience” to renew our strength, spiritually, physically and emotionally. I’ve put together a few verses that lift me up and I pray they are a blessing to you as well!

Psalm 28:7-8 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. 8 The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.

Exodus 15:2 The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

Isaiah 40:28-31 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. 29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

Psalm 27:14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

Psalm 29:11 The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.

Psalm 73:26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever.

Psalm 81:1 Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.

At times like these, it is good to get away to your favorite place in God’s beautiful creation! Reading His word as you hear birds singing and nature’s beautiful sounds will lift the spirit more than anything can! Somewhere out there, dear Christian, there is someone else going through the same thing – it may be different troubles, but as our Home going draws near, we must encourage one another all the more!
