Deliver me from the oppression of man: so will I keep Jesus!!! If we think we are oppressed in today’s world, we should take a moment to look around. Indeed, we are burdened with taxes, the media’s incessant reporting of the liberal’s agenda, and the gross inhumanity to Christians around the world. Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary defines the word oppression as:

The act of oppressing; the imposition of unreasonable burdens, either in taxes or services; cruelty; severity.

The state of being oppressed or overburdened; misery.
the Lord – saw the oppression of Israel. 2 Ki 8.

Hardship; calamity.

Depression; dullness of spirits; lassitude of body.

A sense of heaviness or weight in the breast.

My friend, our United States of America is under extreme attacks from Satan. He is the father of lies and has succeeded in herding unbelievers into a corral of deceit and distortion.

Joh 8:44  Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

I never thought I’d see the day when right would be called wrong and wrong would be called right. When did we as a children of the King of Kings stop calling sin by its name? What was sin 1,000 years ago is sin today. No matter how you sugarcoat sin, it is still a pig with lipstick, my friend.

Isa 5:20-21  Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! 21  Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

Satan has managed to deceive the world into thinking that calling sin by its name is biased and unloving. The unsaved world has become the ones that dictate what is to be accepted. But imagine if Christ was walking the earth, would He name sin by its name? He did with the woman at the well. He did with the woman who was to be stoned.

Isa 5:21  Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

Indeed the unsaved world has become wise in their own eyes! The devil’s scheme and agenda is right on target. The world is falling right into his plan. Babies are being murdered at an astronomical rate. Over 42.6 million abortions were conducted in 2020, surpassing world’s leading causes of death!! How can we as a people let this happen? In 2017, Wikipedia stated this about America’s LGBT supporters:

A 2017 Gallup poll concluded that 4.5% of adult Americans identified as pro LGBT or that they are a member of LGBT with 5.1% of women identified as pro LGBT or that they are a member of LGBT, compared with 3.9% of men.[1] A different survey in 2016, from the Williams Institute said that less that 0.1% of Americans identified as transgender.

What is wrong with us? Sin is what is wrong with us. If you call yourself a Christian and yet support these sins, there is something deeply wrong. David said, in today’s verse, “Deliver me from the oppression of man: so will I keep thy precepts.” Friend, it is the Christian who is at fault here. We have grown complacent and have not been bold for the Lord. Where are the Spurgeons of the world? Where are the Pauls? Granted, the devil has managed to gather his minions and is hard at work to destroy mankind. But we have the King of Kings and Lord of Lords as our Saviour! He is going to reign in the end and Satan will be sent to hell where he belongs, along with those minions and unsaved. Christians have been silent and lazy; they have not kept Jesus in the forefront! We are supposed to be the light of the world, friend!

The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Let’s get working – let’s be bold for the Lord – let’s speak out against evil!

Eph 5:11  And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

1 Tim 5:20  Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

2 Tim 4:2-4  Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.  (3)  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;  (4)  And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Rom 16:18  For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
