Bible Verse of the Day - Daily Scripture, Daily Devotions

I am thy servant, give me understanding, that I may know Jesus! Oh yes!! I want to know more about Jesus – I want to know as much as I can about my Saviour! Why would one want to get into a relationship and not know anything about the person they are involved with? When you start dating someone, you ask questions and you learn as much as you can about the person who may be your future spouse, correct? It should be the same when you are born again!

The Apostle Peter encourages believers to get to know Jesus so that we can be kept from the errors of the world. When the world sets into a believer, the believer loses his steadfastness! He becomes complacent and sin creeps into his life.

2Pe 3:17-18  Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.  (18)  But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

The bible is filled with instruction and the Holy Spirit will teach us and inspire us to live for Christ. The word of God is ready to point out our sins, to correct us and provide us with the doctrine of God, not of man. The Christian who depends on the scriptures for all these is a Christian who is equipped and furnished to be a testimony to the unbelieving world.

2Ti 3:16-17  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  (17)  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

It is these same scriptures that dig deep into the heart of man to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. The word of God says it is sharper than any twoedged sword! I picture one edge of the sword to painfully cut out sin and the other edge heals as it is pulled out. That same word of God discerns our very thoughts and intents and, therefore, can guide us down a righteous path!

Heb 4:12  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Psalm 1 depicts what happens to the individual who is guided by God’s word. Read it and let it permeate the very depth of your heart! It is through God’s word that we come to know His personality, His character and how much He loves us: so much so, that He sent us Christ to pay for our debt of sin. Get to know Christ personally! Read your bible and allow it to fill your mind and heart!

Psa 1:1-6  Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  (2)  But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.  (3)  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.  (4)  The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.  (5)  Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.  (6)  For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
