Christ in Psalm 119:118 – Pull Up A Chair
Bible Verse of the Day - Daily Scripture, Daily Devotions

Thou has trodden down all them that err from Jesus: for their deceit is falsehood. Good morning, reader! I’m praying that your day is off to a good start and that the Lord of Lords is at the center of your life. If you’re starting your day in God’s word, you are putting Him first. That’s always a good start. David not only started his day with the Lord, but he sought Him in prayer three times.

Psa 55:17  Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

David prayed three times during his day, fully confident that the Lord would hear him. This verse doesn’t say “in hopes he shall hear my voice.” No indeed! The verse clearly says he SHALL hear my voice. The Lord awaits my prayers so I can take the burdens off my heart and place those prayers into His capable hands. What a Saviour! What a Shepherd! He is the Shepherd of my soul, friend! He is my ever present Guide!

Can you say the same? Today’s verse tells us that the soul who doesn’t heed the scriptures will be trodden down by God.

Mat 22:29  Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
Mar 12:24  And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
Mar 12:27  He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.
Heb 3:10  Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
Jas 1:16  Do not err, my beloved brethren.
Jas 5:19-20  Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; 20  Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

Deceiving a soul and keeping him from the scriptures is a lie from the father of lies! The devil would love nothing more than to keep you from the scriptures wherein dwells the truth.

Joh 8:44  Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

There are no errors in the bible. Nothing needs to be added because the truth of the scriptures is all you need. Many religions have an “extra” book that is added to the scriptures or supersedes the bible, like Mormonism and Catholicism. The father of lies deceives those who do not search the scriptures for answers. Instead, they search out answers from others who doubt God’s word.

The bible is complete and has all the information we need to find salvation and how to live our lives. The validity of the scriptures is amazing! I have in my notes the following information which I took down during a bible conference I attended:

To answer the question what is the probability of one man fulfilling all eight prophecies of Christ in the Old Testament, the Principle of Probability is applied. This principle is a mathematical formula used by the world today. Therefore, multiplying all eight probabilities together, the outcome is 1028 or 1 in 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000!!!

Given these odds and the amount of years between each of the writings in the Old Testament and Christ’s fulfillment in the New Testament, I have to believe that these prophecies were given by God to the prophets who wrote them down for us. How could they all pick these prophecies out of the air and be right? and the time span between the writings of the Old Testament and the fulfillment by Christ in the New Testament, the prophecies were either given to the prophets by God, or the prophets just wrote them down as they thought they should be. With Christ fulfilling all eight prophecies, what are the odds the prophets were just guessing?

Can we seriously say that those who doubt would rather believe in “theories” like those of Darwin? His theory of evolution requires more faith than believing the Scriptures! But the world has accepted this “theory” as fact. But there are no facts! No one lived during those early days of earth and wrote about them, except what is in our bible! The bible was once used as a historical book by scientist. Some still do to this day.

Is it any wonder that today’s verse says that God will show justice to those who choose to believe lies? His justice will result in the unbeliever being trodden. That means: to crush under the foot; to trample in contempt or hatred, or to subdue.

If you are reading this and you are “religious,” please take a moment to pray as David did, and ask God to show you the truth. He is faithful to those who seek Him and He will answer you through His word. The bible says that His word is:

Psa 119:89  LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
Psa 119:105  NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psa 119:140  Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.
Psa 119:160  Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.
Joh 17:17  Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

God’s word is settled. Not one person will be able to argue with God because His word is settled! His word is a light that points us to salvation. His word is pure – Noah Webster defines pure as: “Complete in itself; positive; as an absolute declaration.” His word is true. There are no lies within its pages. It is the measuring stick for all of us to judge our heart! And finally, obeying His word sanctifies us through Christ’s blood and sets us apart from the unbelievers.

Don’t be led by a religion, friend, just because it is the religion of your parents. Your parents, nor their church, will have a voice for you in front of the Father when you die and meet Him face-to-face. Nothing they say will keep you from Hell when your judgment is passed. Instead, seek the truth now through the Scriptures because God tells us that His word IS truth! Let His word be your guide. Let Jesus be your guide! He will bring you peace. He is that light of truth and will guide you to peace!

Luk 1:79  To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.
