Christ in Psalm 119:116 – Pull Up A Chair

Uphold me according to Jesus, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope!! Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone. There is no other way, friend. As I sit here typing, memories flood of discussions I’ve had with one of my siblings. She was a staunch catholic and could not accept the fact that salvation does not come from being a member of a church. It is not a church that saves but Jesus Christ alone!

Joh 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Heb 12:2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

If we could gain entrance at Heaven’s gates on our own merits, we would be able to be as the Pharisees. They had much knowledge and were the most pious of the Jewish religion. But Jesus called them hypocrites in Matt 23:27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness. It is not the works of our religion that brings salvation. I was raised catholic and I was taught that doing good works and being a member of the Catholic church might allow me entrance to Heaven. But I had to keep all the requirements of the church and that still did not guarantee Heaven. I went to confession regularly, I taught catechism, and did good works. However, I never had the peace that comes with the assurance that I would go to Heaven. I always had a “hope so” faith, not an absolute faith.

Eph 2:8-9  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  (9)  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Friend, only faith in Jesus Christ and His work on the cross will save you. Re-read the above verses in Ephesians. It is by God’s grace that we are saved through faith. It is God’s gift to mankind. If we can work our way to Heaven, then God’s gift is not necessary. Amen?

Look to Jesus and live!

Look and Live

  1. I’ve a message from the Lord, hallelujah!
This message unto you I’ll give,
’Tis recorded in His word, hallelujah!
It is only that you “look and live.”
    • Refrain:
“Look and live,” my brother, live,
      Look to Jesus now, and live;
’Tis recorded in His word, hallelujah!
It is only that you “look and live.”
  2. I’ve a message full of love, hallelujah!
A message, O my friend, for you,
’Tis a message from above, hallelujah!
Jesus said it, and I know ’tis true.
  3. Life is offered unto you, hallelujah!
Eternal life thy soul shall have,
If you’ll only look to Him, hallelujah!
Look to Jesus who alone can save.
  4. I will tell you how I came, hallelujah!
To Jesus when He made me whole—
’Twas believing on His name, hallelujah!
I trusted and He saved my soul.
