Salvation, Devotionals

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: (Rom 3:10)

They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. (Rom 3:12)

They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. (Psa 14:3)

For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. (Ecc 7:20)

Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. (Jam 4:17)

Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God. (3Jo 1:11)

So do you still think you’re a “good” person? God says in the Bible that NO ONE is good. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (1Jo 1:8 )

So what do you do now? It’s not hopeless! God knew that man could not keep the Ten Commandments on his own. Man kept failing and kept sinning. God loves His creation so much, He provided the solution. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (Joh 3:16)

Jesus Christ left Heaven to take on human form to become the perfect and sinless sacrifice which was needed to be the atonement for our sins. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. (Rom 5:11) When God sees Jesus’ shed blood covering our sins, all He sees is His Son’s righteousness and His judgment passes over us. That is why Jesus is known as our Passover Lamb. This is why the Jews celebrate Passover. The plague of death would pass over any Jew’s home whose door posts were covered with the blood of a slain spotless lamb. Therefore, our punishment for our sins and the judgment of burning in hell for all eternity was taken upon Christ as our Passover Lamb.

When we accept Him as our Saviour, His blood “covers” us and God’s judgment passes over us. Oh what a beautiful picture! Oh what a wonderful Saviour we have! So what must you do? There is only one Saviour. There is only one way to Heaven. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (Joh 14:6) Not Buddah, not Allah, not Mary, NO OTHER but Jesus. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Act 4:12)

Jesus told a well-known religious leader that he must be born again. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. (Joh 3:3) It’s not difficult – it’s very simple. When you are born of your mother, you come into this world with a desire to sin – you can’t help it! Your mother did not have to teach you to do wrong – but she did have to teach you to do right. You now must admit that there is no way you can stop yourself from sinning. Punishment for even one sin is burning eternally in hell. God is holy and cannot accept any sin in heaven. Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. (Psa 20:6)

You must be born again? HOW? By admitting that you are a sinner in need of a Saviour. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (Rom 10:9) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Rom 10:10) If you believe that with all your heart and say so, you can be born again. Pray to the Father asking forgiveness for your sins. Accept Christ’s sacrifice for your sin as the ONLY way to Heaven. Determine in your heart to turn away from sin from this day forth. Now that you are born again, you are a new person. Your desires will change – Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2Co 5:17)

If you don’t change, something went wrong. Your prayer was not sincere – you merely tried to prevent yourself from going to hell and wanted to continue with your current life style. God says you will become a NEW CREATURE. After salvation, God gives us the ability to sin less and less.

Peter said it well in his letter of 2 Peter 1:1-4: Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: (1) Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, (2) According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: (3) Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. Devotionals

Do you care about God? Do you care what happens after death? Maybe you don’t care at all. I pray you would take a few moments to read this anyway. Even if only one person reads this and accepts God’s salvation through Christ, it will be worth the time spent writing it.

I am not here to pass judgment as it is not mine to pass. I merely want to share God’s word with you so that you can know for yourself instead of leaving it in the hands of someone else.

But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth? (Psalm 50:16)

God asks what it’s going to take for you to proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord of all? Jesus is God’s covenant to us – His promise, if you will. Without believing in Jesus Christ, you have no covenant with God – you cannot claim His promise to you. You have no chance of heaven! (John 14:6)

Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee. (Psalm 50:17)

God knows that going to church is just a chore for you – He knows that if you do go to church, it is only because it is your religious obligation. Your heart is really not into it. If you attend a church that doesn’t use bibles in its services, then you are left to listen to what the priest/pastor/minister says … and just maybe you don’t listen to that as well. You cast God’s words behind you. Remember, you cannot fool God.

When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers. (Psalm 50:18)

Does it bother you if someone steals in your presence? Do you find it amusing that the thief “got away with it”? This is never more true than watching the news after a natural disaster hits a community. Thieves have a field day looting stores – the cameras catch them laughing as they steal things – we saw this during the Hurricane Katrina news footage. How appropriate is the above verse to those looters. God goes on to say that the sinner is likened to have partaken with adulterers. Are you an adulterer? Have you looked at another woman and lusted after her? If so, you have cheated on your spouse. Jesus said that even if you lusted after another in your mind, you are guilty of adultery! (Matthew 5:28)

Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit. (Psalm 50:19)

Cursing is all around us today. It is nothing to hear God’s name in vain in public places. Lest you think it doesn’t matter, it is still one of the Ten Commandments. Don’t think God will overlook cursing. The bible says that everything we say is being “recorded” in Heaven and will be held accountable to each of us. (Matthew 12:36) What about lying? Does your tongue frame deceit? This does not only refer to lying but also cheating. There are many who deceive and cheat people out there today. Have you sold a car to someone and not divulged everything that was wrong with it?  You are in essence lying. You are also breaking one of the Ten Commandments.

Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother’s son. (Psalm 50:20)

You may have thought that slandering your family wasn’t a big deal. God thinks differently. Just read on.

These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes. (Psalm 50:21)

What things is God speaking of here? (1) Not listening or heeding to God’s instructions in the bible (2) Stealing (3) Adultery (4) Blaspheming God (5) Lying and cheating, and (6) blaspheming and slandering your own brother. Have you done any of these things? I know that I had committed several of these things! We’re not alone – most people have!

Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver. (Psalm 50:22)

Unless you listen to God’s word, God will tear you in pieces. You won’t be able to hide anything from God when you stand before Him after you die. None of your friends will be there to protect you or save you from this event. I remember saying that I would meet my friends in Hell and we’d have a good time there together. Not according to God’s word I won’t! That was just foolish talking on my part because I had no idea where I was going so I hid behind my ignorance.

Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God. (Psalm 50:23)

Anyone who desires to know about God will not go unrewarded. God will reward that person by showing him/her the truth and how to be saved from the wrath to come. The bible says: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6) The bible does not say that you can go to the Father in Heaven by Allah. The Bible does not say that you can go to the Father in Heaven by Buddah. The Bible does not say that you can go to the Father in Heaven by Joseph Smith. The Bible does not say that you can go to the Father in Heaven by any church for that matter. It is through Jesus Christ alone. Please take a moment and read the following verses with an open heart and mind:

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: (John 11:25)

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. (John 3:3)

I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (Luke 13:3)

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (Romans 10:9)

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:10)

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13)

Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. (Ephesians 4:28)

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (II Corinthians 5:17)

There is nothing you can do to get to Heaven. It is impossible for us to stop sinning! IMPOSSIBLE!  If it were so, Christ would not have had to die a bloody and horrible death on the cross!

After Adam and Eve sinned, that sin nature was passed on to everyone born after that. God did not make Adam and Eve that way. They were made perfect and without sin. But God did not create robots who could make no choices in life and nor did He create someone without a will of their own. He created man to think for himself. Unfortunately for us, Adam and Eve’s sin has left all of mankind with a choice. Do we admit that we cannot stop sinning and, therefore, are doomed to eternity in Hell? Eternity is too long and Hell is too hot for you to shrug this away, my friend.

It broke God’s heart so much when His creation could not stop sinning! Even His chosen people, the Jews, could not stop, despite the Ten Commandments, their sacrifices of spotless lambs, and the laws that had been created to rule them. It was this compassion and broken heart that led God to send Jesus Christ, His Son, to die for us.  The Scriptures say that without the shedding of blood, there is not remission of sin. (Matthew 26:28, Romans 3:25, Hebrews 9:22) Therefore, a perfect Lamb, Jesus Christ the Son of God, left His throne in Heaven to take on human form. Why this method? Jesus did this so that He could feel what we feel as human beings. He could experience the temptations but never sin. This made Him the perfect, sinless Lamb who would be sacrificed for all mankind. Those other lambs were but mere symbols of what was to come when Christ came. He finished that requirement by being the final sacrifice, one sacrifice for all! (Hebrews 10:10)

Jesus Christ’s work did not stop there. Not only did He die, but He arose from the dead three days later! A few weeks later, He ascended into Heaven and is waiting to come back in the air to take born-again Christians to Heaven!  If you read the verses and you have allowed the Holy Spirit of God to prick your heart, won’t you please pray and ask God to forgive you? Accept His Son’s perfect sacrifice for your sins. Repent of your life style and change directions. If you are a thief, steal no more – if you are an adulterer, do it no more, etc. If you pray these things with a sincere heart, God will hear you and save you.  He knows whether or not you are sincere. As a result, you will be born again – a brand new beginning – a brand new nature! Your sins will be forgiven and the weight of your sin’s debt will be lifted from you! You will now be a child of God! A child of God begins to change immediately. The desires to curse, lie, cheat, steal, commit adultery, etc. will either be completely taken away or will diminish drastically.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (II Corinthians 5:17)

A Christian is not sinless but a Christian should sin less with each passing day as he yields himself to the convicting work of the Holy Spirit in his life. Read your bible faithfully every day – not just a verse or two – but really read and you will be fed God’s holy word! Look at the tab at the top of this blog for new believers and start there. Find a good Bible believing church that preaches God’s word without compromise.

I pray that this post has been a blessing to someone today! If so, please share your blessing by posting a comment!

Father in Heaven, I lift up this blog to You today and pray that Your Spirit would direct someone here who would read it and his/her heart would be convicted. Father, I beg You for a soul to be won as a result of this labor to bring honor and glory to You. I ask these things in Jesus’ precious Name. Amen.

Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day. Psalm 25:4,5

No wonder David was the apple of God’s eye. He did not seek man’s way to truth. He did not seek after men to solve his problems like many do. Instead, David knew that the same God of his salvation would be able to show him the way, teach him through His Word and lead him to truths. And because of this secure knowledge that David had, he would wait on God all day to get his answer.

Are we as confident as David? Do we wait on the Lord to answer our questions or work in our every-day problems? Or do we walk ahead of the Lord and try to fix things on our own? I know I have been guilty of doing just that and my solution is not usually the best solution. However, God’s solution is always the best solution. Why do we think we can do better than God can? His timing is not always our timing and so we run out of patience with His plans. This is yet another “trust” factor. Do we not trust Him enough to take care of things for us? If we did, we would not be so quick to try to do the work for Him.

This is why it’s so important to know the Word and to rely on it in times of doubt. When I solely lean on the Word to build me and encourage me, I find that I am not so quick to jump the gun and run into trouble. The Lord gives peace to those who seek His guidance and His will. Even if our answer is to wait on Him, there’s a calm assurance that He is working it out for our benefit. What a joy it is to be a Christian! I don’t know how the unsaved do it! I really don’t!

My Hope Is Built

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.

Refrain

On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

Refrain

His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.

Refrain

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. (Psalm 9:17)

The believer who is concerned about lost souls has heard many excuses as to why someone won’t be saved. One of the excuses I’ve heard is that there is no God and that when one dies, that’s the end. [To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.] The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. (Psalm 14:1)

Seems to me, I would rather take precautions while I had still had the chance than to find out that it’s too late to make any changes. I think of Jesus’ account of the rich man and Lazarus. In all of Jesus’ stories, this account was the only one that He gave the name of an individual. This was a true story and Luke, the physician, goes into great detail when he records Jesus’ account in Luke 16:20-31. The rich man no longer had an opportunity to be saved, he no longer had an opportunity to warn his family – that was it! He was stuck in hell, burning, thirsting and hurting for all eternity!!

I once heard one of our dear senior saints say, “Eternity is too long and hell fire too hot for me to take the chance of hell not being true!” Oh so very true! These are not the words of a fool, that’s for sure. The word “hell” is found in 54 verses in the Word. God wants us to know all about this place where the unrepentant sinner will go. This place called hell will be a horrifying place where the pain is so great that there will be gnashing of teeth. Noah Webster defines it as:

A grinding or striking of the teeth in rage or anguish.

I found it interesting that there are seven verses which use this phrase “gnashing of teeth.” God’s perfect number is the number seven which means “completion”! Man’s rejection of Him will be complete when he is cast down into hell’s fires. There won’t be any more chances to accept Jesus Christ as the only way to Heaven. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)Allah won’t be able to help you. Buddha won’t be able to help you. Mary won’t be able to help you. Only Jesus can help you – and only while you are yet living, my friend.

But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Mat 8:12)And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. (Mat 13:42)

And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. (Mat 13:50)

Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Mat 22:13)

And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Mat 24:51)

And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Mat 25:30)

There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. (Luke 13:28 )

If you are reading this today and you are not 100% convinced that you are going to Heaven when you die, then I hope that you will let these verses speak to your heart and not be the fool as the rich man was. Denying there is a God does not remove the fact that He does exist. God is the beginning and the end. All things started with Him and all things will end with Him. He is not mocked and He does hold judgment for those who reject Him. He also holds reward of salvation for those who accept Him.

And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. (Rev 21:6)

Maranatha Devotionals

Psalm 32:1 [A Psalm of David, Maschil.] Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

The Jews have celebrated Passover since the time of Moses by painting the blood of a spotless lamb around their doorposts. This precious blood symbolized the Blood of their future Messiah, Yeshua. In faith, the Jews believed that the blood would protect them from death. What a beautiful depiction of our Saviour, Yeshua, Jesus the Christ. Oh that these dear Jews would have the veil removed from their eyes and they would be able to see their Messiah has already come and He awaits His return to reign!

What compassion our Heavenly Father has to bestow salvation upon all mankind and not just the Jews! Praise Jehovah-jireh. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (Joh 3:16) When our spotless Lamb, Jesus, came to earth, His perfect sinless blood was shed to cover all those who repent and believe in Him. The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. (Joh 1:29) He became our Passover Lamb and His blood covers those who trust in Him as their Saviour and Messiah.

What a beautiful picture of our precious Saviour! The blood of spotless lambs was shed and was used to paint over the doorposts so the Jews would be “passed over” by death. The Blood of Jesus Christ was shed and was symbolically painted over born again believers so we are covered and sin is not imputed upon us. Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. (Psa 32:2)

The blood of lambs could never take away sin but merely covered sin until Christ finished the work of forgiveness on the cross by shedding His sinless blood for us all. All Jews and Gentiles who believe in Yeshua, Jesus Christ, will be able to sing as stated in Rev. 15:3, And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.

I pray that the Jews will know how much Christians love them and desire to share with them, together, in this great song of Moses and of the Lamb.

Dear God…
From the beginning You have laid
A great foundation, the Christ
May our eyes be opened to Your Word
From blindness to precious Light

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. John 12:48

What does one do when the Scriptures say something different from what we are taught? We are taught all our lives that our church fathers and church traditions are as inspired as God’s words so we must obey what the church says in order to be “saved.”

The Bible, however, says differently. Jesus’ own words in John 12:48 say that God’s word, the Scriptures, will be what shall judge us in the last day. Jesus’ words, recorded in the Bible, will be what is used. Just as the laws of the land judge a criminal, so will the Scriptures judge each one of us.

So put aside religious affiliation for just a moment and read what God says in His word about this topic. We all know that God is not capable of lying, but man is.

God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged. Romans 3:4

Since God is incapable of lying, it stands to reason that His word contains the truth. We are to obey His word – above any words of man.

Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. Acts 5:29

If man says, “I have found ancient documentation which says we must follow church traditions” but yet church tradition contradicts God’s word. How is a person suppose to handle this? Will church tradition and church fathers be the ones to judge us come Judgment Day? John 14:28 says that we are going to be judged by God’s word, not man’s words or traditions. Therefore, if tradition contradicts Scripture, it stands to reason we would obey the truth found in Scripture.

O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? Gal 3:1

Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? Gal 5:7

Paul had the same problem with the Galatians. Those wishing to follow traditions were leading others astray. Paul exhorted them to get back on track and obey the truth of God’s word! It’s important, friend! It will make all the difference in whether you heed what you have been taught all your life or heed God’s word. How important is God’s word?

I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. Psalms 138:2

God magnifies His word above His own name! How important is that??? Is it any wonder God’s word is attacked today? It is the word of God that cleanses us – it leads us to salvation in Jesus Christ! (Psalm 119:9) The born-again Christian keeps himself clean by heeding God’s word! We set ourselves apart by heeding God’s word.

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. John 17:17-19

Is it any wonder that the devil would distract mankind with religion? It is not religion that saves. It is Jesus Christ (John 14:6) that saves – it is His word that we must obey – it is according to His word that we will be judged. Wouldn’t you rather obey God rather than man so that you are certain rather than obey traditional religion and not know for certain? (1 John 5:13)

Maranatha Devotionals

~Ecclesiastes 1:9-10 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. 10 Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.

History repeats itself … how many times have we heard that? Since the beginning of time, nothing has changed. Sin runs rampant in the heart of man. Sin brings heartache, destruction, broken relationships and marriages, and death. What you did as a child, your child will do. In fact, unless God’s word is the center of your home, your child will do worse than you did. If anything is certain, until Christ enters the heart, the person becomes more sinful with time. An alcoholic drinks more – a drug user turns to stronger drugs – a liar starts to believe his own lies – a thief steals bigger items.

The one thing that can change the heart of man is the healing that only Jesus Christ can bring.

~Malachi 4:2a But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings;

~Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

~Luke 9:11 And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing.

~Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

The only way to receive that precious healing from sin is to obey God’s word:

~Mark 1:14-15 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

~John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

~John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

~Luke 13:5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

~Acts 3:19-20 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; 20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:

An individual must first accept that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Without this first step of faith, nothing else can follow. This is where cults start – they deny Christ’s deity. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is simple: (1) He left Heaven to take on the form of man – born of a virgin; (2) He lived a sinless life so He could become the sacrificial lamb for us, dying on the cross to give His sinless blood as a perfect sacrifice which takes away our sin and sin debt. (3) And lastly, He arose from the dead, ascended into Heaven, and is awaiting His return to reign on earth.

I’ve been accused of being intolerant and narrow-minded. Bless God! I’m my Father’s child! God’s word is clear about the plan of salvation and is very intolerant and narrow-minded – there is only ONE way. God’s wrath is on all those who refuse to repent from their sin and be saved. The devils believed but they are not saved (James 2:19). There must be a receiving heart that is willing to repent. If you are not willing to give up your sin, as in those listed below, then your heart is not under conviction and any so-called ‘salvation prayer’ will be just words.

~Romans 1:16-32 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. 18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. 24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

How great Thou art!

Do you care about God? Do you care what happens after death? Maybe you don’t care at all. I pray you would take a moment to read this anyway.

God knows that you hate going to church – He knows you hate hearing anything about Him. He knows that if you do go to church, it is only because it is your religious obligation.

How appropriate is the above verse to these looters.

Amen.

We hear this all the time from those “fundamentalists,” but is it true? Forget what man says … it’s more important what God says in the Bible. Here’s what the God’s Word tells us about salvation:

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Hebrews 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Romans 10:4 For Christ [is] the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

There is no other! It’s not through going to church, not through any other “god” or prophet, not through doing good works – only through Jesus Christ and the work that HE did on the cross. This is not a popular message in the world’s agenda of “tolerance”! But what matters most is not what the world says – it matters what God says. If anyone is the least bit interested, the Bible is the source of all the answers of life here and life everlasting!

~John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

It is not God’s will for us to go to hell. That is not His desire for us. Our salvation is our choice. We either believe in Jesus Christ, accept that we are sinners and that He is the only way to Heaven or we don’t. (Acts 4:10-12)

~John 3:18  He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

I see the world’s viewpoint of Christ in several ways:

1. They truly accept Christ’s work on the cross for their sin and are truly born again.
2. They have “believed” in Jesus Christ (but not repented) because they are religious and that is how they have been taught all their lives.
3. They have heard about Jesus Christ but they really don’t care one way or another.
4. They have heard about Christ but they hate all that He stands for.
5. They have never heard of Jesus Christ – ever!

The Bible says that if one does not believe in Jesus Christ, he is condemned already. (John 3:18) This is not an act from God but a free-will act by man. Man chooses not to believe in Christ and man chooses not to repent and turn from his wicked way. God will not force Himself upon anyone. He has provided a way for man to be reconciled to Him through Jesus Christ, His Son. However, if a person chooses to go his own way and does not want Jesus Christ as part of his daily life, then that is his choice – not God’s choice.

~Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.   For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Believing unto righteousness is quite different from just “knowing.” I was raised Roman Catholic but I did not believe in Jesus Christ unto righteousness – I didn’t turn from my wicked way and REPENT (Acts 20:21). I knew about Christ but I did not believe unto righteousness. Had I done so, I would have been born-again (John 3:3) – I would have changed (2 Corinthians 5:17) – my desires would be focused on learning about Christ and living my life for Him (2 Timothy 2:15). Christ’s righteousness is upon the believer after salvation.  There is definitely a difference between playing church and being truly born again. I played church before I was saved – I taught Catholic catechism – I deceived those around me but knew in my heart that I was not the person I pretended to be. The heart is very different after salvation. That is the heart that believes unto righteousness.

Jesus was speaking to the Pharisees when they were trying to trick Him:

~Matthew 21:32 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.

The Pharisees saw with their own eyes how publicans and harlots believed and followed after righteousness when they heard John the Baptist preach. Yet, even after seeing the changes in these people, the Pharisees did not repent nor did they believe. It was their choice. If you have been around true born-again believers, you have seen a difference in their lives. You probably secretly desire what they have. But you’re afraid to take that step. You’re afraid of what your family will think. You’re afraid of what your spouse will say. But none of these will stand with you when you die and you are standing before Christ. Try explaining to Jesus why you weren’t born again. The excuse of “being afraid of your family” will not cut it. No excuse will be accepted by God on Judgment Day for those who rejected salvation through Christ. None! Sadly, your choice will cost you Heaven! Your choice will damn you for all eternity.

It is the will of God that saves, it is the will of man that damns.

~Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

What are you living by? Are you following someone’s teachings? Are you making up your own mind? Are you leaving spiritual matters to others? God tells us to live by His Word, therefore, we must have His Word in existence today or He would be asking us to do the impossible.

Religions of today would have you believe that if you follow them, they will provide joy. So is that working for you? Are you at peace? Do you have joy? I won’t preach to you. I merely ask you to read the Bible. This is where truth, joy and peace can be found. Don’t you want that right now? Where should you start? Start in the Book of John. I challenge you to read it through three times. In the mean time, I will be praying that you will find what I have found.

~Psalm 94:8-9 Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise? He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?

Do you truly believe that God does pay attention to the little things we do in life and hear the words spoken in secret?  The same God who created us is the same one who hears everything and sees everything.  There is nothing hidden from the Lord.

This is an encouragement to the born-again believer to live righteously.  This is an exhortation to the unbeliever to seek after God and not be foolish. Don’t delay!  No one knows when his last day on this earth will be.  Seek the truth in the Bible – read the Gospel of John through three times.  All the answers of life are contained in its pages.

~Proverb 14:12  There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Maranatha Devotionals

~Jonah 2:9b … Salvation is of the LORD.

Although many religions teach that one must do good deeds in order to be saved, salvation is given by God, not achieved by anything we can do for ourselves. IF we could do anything to gain entrance to Heaven, then we take away from Jesus Christ’s work on the cross.

What more can the devil do than to take away from Christ’s death, burial and resurrection? The devil can sidetrack man and distract him from the truth which God’s Word teaches.

The Bible says that IF Abraham were justified by his works, the works would bring only Abraham glory before mankind, but not before God.

~Romans 4:2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.

But it was Abraham’s faith that counted him righteous! He believed that God would do what He said He would do and Abraham rested on this faith.

~Romans 4:3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

Quickly, Paul made sure to mention that the Scriptures were clear and the Scriptures are an excellent teacher.

Paul also made certain to point out that salvation is A GIFT from God given to us because of His endless grace and love for mankind. Again, that word faith is mentioned – just as Abraham’s faith counted as righteousness, so does faith in Christ, the Father’s gift to us, count as our righteousness.

~Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Our own works cannot buy righteousness. Anyone who has given a large sum of money to the church can attest to this. You feel “good” for that moment but you’re right back to your sinful ways soon thereafter. None of our actions can earn us entrance into Heaven because then we could boast of our actions! How many “good” people have been in the limelight yet not one of their actions can pave the way to Heaven? If this were possible, then Paul would not have said that Abraham’s works were not justified before God. If anyone should have had his works justified, it would be Abraham – but God does not see it that way.

~Ephesians 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

It is the righteousness of Jesus Christ that we receive at the moment of salvation. It is HIS His shed blood, and ONLY His shed blood, that paid for sin’s debt. NOTHING else can pay for sin’s debt. N-O-T-H-I-N-G! That is the only righteousness that will gain us entrance into Heaven. It is Jesus’ blood that covers our sin and, therefore, we are no longer have that burden. It has all been placed on Jesus!

~Romans 4:6-8 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Our sins are forgiven and covered because of the precious blood of Jesus Christ. Abraham’s faith was counted to him as righteousness. Our perfect sacrifice happened 2000 years ago and Christ’s death, burial and resurrection are the only works we can count as righteous before a Holy God.

“If your faith is not fixed in Jesus, your best works will be but splendid sins. All the performance of duties will not affect your salvation.”
Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Maranatha Devotionals

The eternal security of the believer is a much debated topic these days. Some say that believing in such gives one a license to sin. I can understand why they say that – there are many who profess salvation but live like the world. That is not the case, however, for one who is truly born again.

If salvation were based upon what man had to do to earn it, then it would have to also be based upon what man had to do to keep it. The Bible is clear as to what salvation is based upon, and none of them mention man’s works or lack of them as the foundation. So let’s take a look at what the Word says salvation is all about.

It is all about God’s grace, and not at all involving works:

Ephesians 2:8-9  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Titus 3:5  Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.

One sacrifice for sins for all and for eternity:

Hebrews 6:4-6  For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,  And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,   If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

Hebrews 9:22-28  And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.  It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.    For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:    Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.  And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:    So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Hebrews 10:12-14  But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;  From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.  For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

A promise from God:

John 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 6:37  All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Romans 8:1  There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Not based on our ability to keep it:

2 Timothy 1:12  For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Philippians 1:6  Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

2 Timothy 4:18  And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

2 Corinthians 1:10  Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us.

Never spoken as earthly or temporal in God’s Word:

John 4:14  But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

John 6:40  And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

John 6:47  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

Hebrews 5:9  And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

God’s Word is truth and He cannot lie.  God gave man the promise of eternal salvation based on His grace and based on His Word, which He keeps for all eternity.  Critics of eternal salvation base their beliefs on man’s ability.  But the one thing we are certain of with man is his ability to  continue in sin no matter how many laws there are to keep man moral.  Our Country and State laws ought to be full proof of that statement! The more laws that are made, the more that are broken.

But what critics don’t “get” is that Christ died while we were yet sinners – He knew it was hopeless for us to keep the law.  It is hopeless for us to be “good enough” or to do so many good things that in the end they will outweigh the sins!  That is why salvation is all about what Christ did and nothing about what we have done or need to do.  It is a gift from God.  We cannot give ourselves this gift.

Only God can give us the gift – all we have to do is sincerely accept it and repent from our wicked ways!  That is why there are so many critics of eternal security today.  Too many have said they are born again but their lives do not show it.  Their lives don’t show it because they have not repented of their sins.  The Gospel has landed on rocky ground and thorns instead of a fruitful heart.

“Once in Christ and ever in Christ. A star may sooner fall out of its orb than a true believer be plucked away from God (Watson, Religion Our True Interest, 96).”

It saddens me that people would rather follow a certain “religion” than to research for themselves to find out if they are being taught the truth by their leaders.

God has given us the truth through the Holy Bible. Why has this Book been the biggest seller of all time for all these years? Why do you think God left this Book for us? It certainly wasn’t so we could press dried flowers or keep the family’s genealogy!

When Jesus was praying to His Heavenly Father, He said:

~John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

It is up to us to read and study the Word of God so we can think for ourselves and make up our own minds – not rely on someone else to direct us. Your parents probably quoted you the old saying:

If your friends jump off a bridge, will you jump too?

It’s the same concept. Men boast of much knowledge. However, God says to study the Bible so you can be approved by Him, not man.

~2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

In turn, studying the Bible is not just for the intellectual. God wrote it in such a way that even a child can understand it. You can’t shove that responsibility onto a friend. You can’t depend on your church leaders to have all the answers. Doing so is repeating the errors of the Dark Ages. It was during this time that the Bible was forbidden to be read by common man – hence, the title “Dark Ages” was labeled for the time period. How appropriate it is, indeed!

I would rather be wrong on this issue of studying the Bible for ourselves and have spent hours in the Bible – for, truly, what have I lost??? A mere few hours a week on reading?  I don’t want to be so pig-headed that I have not studied it out for myself – then only to find out when it’s too late that I was wrong.

If someone has been reaching out to you about salvation, why hesitate? What possibly could be so wrong with desiring to be more Christ-like? What can be so wrong with desiring to spend eternity with God? That’s all that God wants for you! But there’s a cost – that cost is repentance, which is exactly what most people do not want to do. They want to continue living their lives with their pet sins rather than repent and accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour. Without Him, there is no entrance into Heaven. His way is not a prayer-ette. His way is not good deeds (although good deeds are a byproduct after salvation). His way is repentance and accepting His word on the cross as sufficient for our salvation!

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Jesus is the only way to Heaven – nothing else and no one else can add to what He has done for us.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

You may think you are good enough to get into Heaven but how “good is good”? What’s the criteria? Do you think your good works are on one side of the scale and your sins are on the other and whichever one weighs more will decide where you will spend eternity? If you were to live 70 years and commit only one sin per day, you would have committed 25,550 sins at the end of 70 years!

If not ONE mere sin can enter Heaven, how do you expect 25,550 sins will be “good enough” to let you in?

Revelation 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither [whatsoever] worketh abomination, or [maketh] a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

The bottom line is this:  What will we say when we stand before God? Will we give the excuse that we left the “spiritual” matters of life to our minister or priest? The Apostle Paul said in the above verse that we are to study for ourselves so we can be approved unto God.

What will your answer be when God asks you why you didn’t read the Bible? What will you answer when He asks you why you chose not to repent and be saved the way the Bible says? What will you answer when you say that you chose to listen to your church leaders than to listen to God’s Word? Please think about what you are doing, dear reader! Eternity is a very long time and our time on this earth is very short in comparison. Don’t delay!

~James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Noah Webster defines the word gift as:

A present; any thing given or bestowed; any thing, the property of which is voluntarily transferred by one person to another without compensation; a donation. It is applicable to any thing movable or immovable.

No matter how hard you try to add something to salvation, you have to argue with the word “gift.” God chose this word for a reason. I find it interesting that the word “gift” appears 33 times in the New Testament – which happens to be the age Christ was when He died. Jesus Christ is the perfect gift. He paid the price – He paid it all – we cannot add or take away from this gift. If we could add to this gift by our good works, it is no longer a gift!

~2 Corinthians 11:3-4 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is not difficult. The Gospel ca be understood by a child – this shows how much God wants everyone to hear and understand. However, man and man-made religion have managed to complicate the beautiful simplicity of salvation!

~2 Corinthians 11:3-4 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

Peter warned of false religion and of the devil disguising himself as a lion roaring wishing to devour.

~1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Would one be devoured by Satan if one were alert and watching? Would one be deceived by the devil’s subtlety if one was in the Scriptures daily? A banker knows how to recognize counterfeit money because he knows the real thing! So should a Christian be able to recognize false religion by reading his Bible! One cannot recognize counterfeit religion by a mere five-minutes a day.

Peter warned us of those who preach another Jesus. Just who preaches another Jesus? Too many religions teach that Jesus’ atoning blood was not enough for complete salvation. They teach that salvation is an ongoing process as long as one does certain things, but that is not what Jesus taught. Jesus’ salvation is not complicated. Jesus’ teachings are not complicated.

~Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
~John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
~Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

That is the simple Gospel of Jesus Christ. False religion has managed to chain its followers into a life of works-based salvation and penance – all of which only create a religious person who, like the Pharisee, is not saved. Peter said to beware of those who corrupt from the simplicity that is in Christ!

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1

Why does the Word compare Jesus to being a light to the world? The world is in spiritual darkness. Islam has its followers deeply entrenched in a belief system that leads to death. Catholicism has its followers just as deeply, if not more, entrenched. Judaism has its followers just as deeply entrenched – despite the fact that they are God’s chosen. My friend, all religions which lead their followers down a path of salvation through someone other than Jesus Christ is a religion of darkness.

The veil in the temple leading to the Holy of Holies was torn when Christ’s shed blood on the cross paid the penalty for our sins [And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; (Mat 27:51)]. We no longer need a high priest because Jesus is our high priest and He offered a perfect sinless sacrifice in His own body for us [For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. (Heb 4:15)].

Which leads me back to my initial question – why does the Word compare Jesus to a light? I’ll let the verses themselves answer this question:

For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness. (Psa 18:28 )

[A Psalm of David.] The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? (Psa 27:1)

For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light. (Psa 36:9)

O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles. (Psa 43:3)

Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance. (Psa 89:15)

Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance. (Psa 90:8 )

Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart. (Psa 97:11)

Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. (Psa 112:4)

God is the LORD, which hath shewed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar. (Psa 118:27)

NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psa 119:105)

For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life: (Pro 6:23)

O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD. (Isa 2:5)

To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. (Isa 8:20)

The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. (Isa 9:2)

I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; (Isa 42:6)

And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them. (Isa 42:16)

The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. (Isa 60:19)

He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him. (Dan 2:22)

The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. (Mat 4:16)

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. (Mat 5:14)

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Mat 5:16)

To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. (Luk 1:79)

A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel. (Luk 2:32)

In him was life; and the life was the light of men. (Joh 1:4)

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. (Joh 1:5)

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. (Joh 1:9)

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. (Joh 3:19)

For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. (Joh 3:20)

But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. (Joh 3:21)

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. (Joh 8:12)

I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. (Joh 12:46)

To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. (Act 26:18 )

That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles. (Act 26:23)

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. (2Co 4:4)

For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. (2Co 4:6)

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (Eph 5:8 )

Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. (Eph 5:14)

Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: (Col 1:12)

Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. (1Th 5:5)

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: (1Pe 2:9)

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: (2Pe 1:19)

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. (1Jo 1:5)

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. (1Jo 1:7)

And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. (Rev 21:23)

And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. (Rev 22:5)

After all of these verses, it is evident that the light can be found in the Word of God. The Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. Jesus is the Word: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (Joh 1:1) The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. (Psa 119:130) The simple can come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and be born again. This verse does not say the proud will be receive understanding. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (Joh 14:6)

Islam will not get you to heaven, my friend. Buddhism will not get you to heaven. Judaism will not get you to heaven. Plain and simple, religion will not get you to heaven. Only ONE can get you to heaven and that is Jesus Christ. He is the light which the Word of God speaks of. He is the light waiting to shine in your heart to show you the way to salvation. The blessed Light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is what will shine in our hearts and take us out of darkness.

There is NO other way. God will not compromise. There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. (Pro 14:12)

Maranatha Devotionals

~Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

~Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

First of all, let’s be clear about one thing. What is written here today is not MY opinion but what comes right out of Word of God. Take a moment to read and let God’s Word speak to your heart.

I was searching for a specific group of words in my Bible software and found that this group appeared twice in Proverbs. This Proverb was so important that the Lord put it in the Scriptures twice. Anything the Lord states more than once in the Bible should be noted and carefully heeded, don’t you think?

I can’t speak for God because His thoughts are not mine (Is. 55:8-9). But I can get a pretty good idea of what He communicates to mankind through the Bible. I’ve always heard preaching on this verse in conjunction with salvation. Oh how true it is!! When I was “religious,’ I just knew I was in the right religion. I was repeatedly told that I was in the one true church but I had not studied the Word of God to make sure that I was being told truth.

Notice how the verses state that this way of salvation seems right unto a man. Not “right unto the religious leaders” but unto the man himself. Every individual, every breathing soul that ever lived, will have to make this choice for himself. We cannot place the burden of blame on someone else for the choices we make. Why, then, do we think that we can leave the decision of salvation to someone else?

When I look back on the day I got saved, I remember a young woman who thought she was “OK” with God because she belonged to the biggest/richest “church and religion” in the world. How could so many people be wrong? Praise my wonderful Father in Heaven for pricking my heart through His Holy Spirit and showing me that nothing and no one could remove the burden of guilt from sin but Jesus Christ. No church, no priest, no Rabbi, no Pastor can say that I have eternal salvation because I am a member of a certain church. Why do I know that? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (Joh 14:6)

Jesus is NOT the way THROUGH a specific church. The Word of God says differently,

~Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

There is NO salvation in any other! None! The Word of God is clear. This way that I thought was the right way was leading me straight to Hell. I wasn’t even questioning it. I wasn’t even concerned. My priest never once had me thinking about where I would spend eternity. NEVER! I thank God daily for sending someone to warn me that I was heading down this path that was leading me to the ways of death! Thank You, Lord!

~Romans 14:1  For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

~Ephesians 5:15-16 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

What an exhortation this is! The Apostle Paul is directing to be wise and take the Gospel to all we can for the times are quite evil! People need the Lord, amen? Noah Webster defines “redeeming” as:

“REDEE’MING, ppr. Ransoming; procuring deliverance from captivity, capture, bondage, sin, distress or liability to suffer, by the payment of an equivalent.”

~Colossians 4:5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.

Twice the Apostle Paul tells us to be wise and to redeem the time. Christ procured our salvation with a great price: His own blood. Only He can deliver us from our captivity – only He can free us from the bondage of sin – only He can redeem us from the penalty of Hell – only He could pay the price for all mankind. There is only one way and that is through Christ (John 14:6).

We who have accepted His gift of salvation and have been redeemed, praise God! Although we are walking in newness of life (2 Cor. 5:17), we are not perfect. We have an on-going work to do and this is to be wise through the Scriptures which contain God’s words to mankind. We are to take full advantage of the time we have here on this earth to grow wise, walk in the Word’s wisdom and share with others this beautiful and wonderful plan of salvation.

This salvation is great – it is a gift – it is free. It is not wrought by human hands but only by the precious blood of Jesus Christ. No work on our part can achieve salvation (Eph. 2:8-10) and no work on our part can keep it, otherwise it is no longer a gift. A gift cannot be worked for or purchased.

~Acts 8:20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

Let us redeem the time during these evil days and tell others the wonderful news of the Gospel of Christ.
