~2 Corinthians 4:16-18 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

I recall hearing a message about what happens to us at the moment of our salvation. At that very moment, we take our first step into eternity with the Lord. Our flesh will fail and eventually die, unless we are part of the blessed who experience the Rapture! Each day, we are blessed with the opportunity to start our walk with the Lord afresh. Our eternal life was purchased with a great price – our Precious Saviour willingly took the punishment for our wickedness. Eternity is already purchased for us but we walk this earth in a sinful body.  Our old man struggles with our new man.  We desperately need to renew ourselves daily.  When we are renewed, we recognize what Christ went through just to give us this blessed opportunity!  As a result, we are able to claim this promise!

~Psalms 103:4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

Christ redeemed us from hell’s eternal destruction and He crowned us with His love and tender mercy! It is by His mercy that we are not consumed by Hell’s fire! I am so thankful that my eternity is not dependent on me for I fail my Lord daily. My heart is filled with remorse each time I fail Him. But I am thankful that the Lord is full of mercy!!! I am reminded that He is faithful and He renews my spirit every day! I have faith that each day He will be there walking with me and helping me through the day’s events – whether they be filled with sorry or joy! I know that my Saviour is filled with compassion and He will restore my weary spirit each day!

~Lamentations 3:21-23 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

I can begin each day with peace knowing that even though my body will eventually die, my spirit will be renewed daily because I know what my future holds! My life here is but a vapor in the span of time. However, I glory in the fact that my Saviour will be there throughout my journey and will welcome me when I take that one step through that doorway between life here on earth to eternal life with my Lord!

~Psalms 89:1 Maschil of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.

Gleaning Gold:

~2 Timothy 3:1-4, This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.  For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Nuggets of Truth:

As one reads today’s Gold, can we not fully see ourselves in the end times?  How frightening it is to see the end unfold before us.  Incidences we never dreamed would happen in our lifetime are happening before our very eyes!  I never dreamed that there would come a leader in our country who would literally swoop people off their feet during campaigning!  Women were fainting and screaming at the sight of our current President.  When I was first born again and reading about these end times in my Bible, I would ask myself how the antichrist could come into power with such force and control over the world’s population.  I now can see how the antichrist will control the world just by watching this past year’s presidential campaigns.

Am I afraid of what our future holds for us?  No, I’m not afraid.  I am, however, saddened that our beloved country has allowed herself to get to the place we now find ourselves.  The Word says that we are in for some very difficult times – times that have never been experienced before.  Times were rough during the Civil War.  Times were unbelievably difficult during the Great Depression when the stock market crashed.  Times were hard during the holocaust for the millions of Jews who were murdered by Hitler and his minions.  But the Word of God says that there is a time that is coming when the entire world will be affected by the great trials coming.  The believer does not need to be afraid.  We are the children of the King and He has promised us peace through our trials and tribulations.

~Matthew 10:26-30  Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.  What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.   But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Unbelieving mankind, however, has every reason to be afraid.  He is battling the one who has the ability to destroy his soul.  The devil is very much alive and well on planet Earth, my friend.  He has control over the unsaved and they don’t even realize it.  Their minds are in a fog – they don’t see clearly.  Their hearts are hardened and all things morally good are becoming less and less prevalent in their lives.  In the end, they will be totally at the mercy of the antichrist and the devil will have won their souls.

The believer, however, is not in this predicament.  Yes, the believer can lose his physical life but his soul has been claimed, bought and paid for, by the blood of our precious Saviour, Jesus Christ!

Refining the Gold:

There are so many cares and burdens being carried by believers today.  Not only do we have our every day lives, but we see the predictions of God’s Word unfolding before our very eyes!  The believer could be afraid but we do not need to be.  The Lord has given us consolation in His Word so that we may find peace in tumultuous times.

~John 14:1-3  Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.  In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

~Luke 12:22-32 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.  The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.  Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls? And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit? If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?  Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Why fret when the One who is in total control of all things is there for us until the day we stand before Him?  Our Saviour gave His everything for us – why should He stop now?  You don’t stop short of providing for those you love, do you?  Christ certainly won’t!  He’s preparing a place for us and will take us there soon!  Look up, Christian.  Thy redemption draweth nigh!!

Either Jesus’ blood washes us from all sin or His blood doesn’t wash us from all sin. This is yet another conundrum for the catholic! What does the Bible say?

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. ~1 John 1:7

If you do not believe that you have been completely forgiven for all your sins, something is wrong. The Bible says in the previous verse:

~1 John 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

The Apostle John tells us that if we say we have fellowship with God yet we do not believe that Jesus Christ has cleansed us from all sin, we are lying about our fellowship with Him and we do not possess the truth! Where lies the truth?

~Psalm 138:2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

~John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

The Word of God, the Bible, contains the Truth, my friend. The truth is that there is no more atonement needed outside of the blood of Jesus Christ that was shed for your sins.

I found it interesting that when you do a word search to the two words, blood and Christ, there are eight verses with this combination! Eight is the Bible number meaning “new beginnings” – the New Covenant between God and His children! This excites my spirit!

~1 Corinthians 10:16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

~Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

~Hebrews 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

~1Peter 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

~1Peter 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

~1John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

~1John 5:6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

~Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Jesus Christ is the perfect lamb of God – the perfect sacrifice – the perfect redemption – the perfect atonement for your sin. There is nothing more to be done. There isn’t one iota of benefit from your works that will add to that perfect redemption.

Perfection is final – it is complete.
