Psalms 119:75 by mvcquotes on DeviantArt

I know, O LORD, that Jesus is right, and that thou in faithfulness has afflicted me. Wow, this one is a tough verse to swallow, isn’t it? David is talking to God and admitting to Him that God’s judgments are always right, no matter what. Once we know Christ as our Saviour, we begin to understand why we go through trials and afflictions. Sometimes the trials are not so overwhelming; but there are other times, they are!

Jesus brings peace and rest to His child. My very first trial was being married to someone who did not share my joy of salvation. He couldn’t understand this new found love of God. There were times my husband would make my life unbearable. I found out later that he did this so he could see me slip up and go back to my “old self”! Praise the Lord, God was faithful and helped me through these times and I was able to maintain my testimony with my husband. My favorite verses at the time were:

Mat 11:28-30  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Our burdens may not seem “light” at the time but it caused the spring of hope to overflow in my heart and the Holy Spirit would encourage me! I think of the hymn “On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand”! Christ is our anchor in unsettled times such as these. Amen!!

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

When darkness veils his lovely face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil
