Psalm 119:71 KJV | Bible psalms, Bible quotes kjv, Kjv

It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn Jesus! Oh yes, indeed. Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary defines “afflicted” as:

AFFLICT’EDparticiple passive Affected with continued or often repeated pain, either of body or mind; suffering grief or distress, of any kind; followed by at, by or with; as, afflicted at the loss of a child, by the rheumatism, or with losses.

David was indeed afflicted in many ways: the death of his son, attempts on his life, repercussions from his own sin, etc. But David states here that it was good for him so that he might learn God’s word! God’s word teaches us everything we need to know about life as well as salvation through Jesus Christ! When we become a child of the King, we have this wonderful capability of pulling through any trial because of God’s grace!

If it weren’t for the Lord, it would be extremely difficult to make it through trials and tribulation with peace – in fact, nearly impossible! But with His help, we can trust in Him to help us to overcome each affliction without becoming bitter! What better way to bring glory to the One Who saved you than by praising Him through the storms of life? What a testimony it is to a lost and dying world desperately seeking for comfort!!

What kind of testimony are you today, Christian?
