I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep Jesus. Good morning, dear reader! I pray that you are well, both physically but most of all, spiritually. That is what “keeping Jesus” is all about, amen? When we put God’s word foremost in our minds, we stand ready to deal with everyday events. No matter what those events are, we are not taken by surprise. We have a sense of calmness in our hearts, thanks to the Comforter, which our Lord and Saviour left for us. The word “comforter” is used in seven verses in the King James Version. Christ left us His perfect Spirit (the number seven designates perfection) to help us! There is no other who can bring this perfect peace, perfect comfort, or perfect understanding!

Psa 119:165  Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

2Ti 2:15  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Rev 1:3  Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

God’s word brings peace to the believer. Some verses may bring conviction, some may bring encouragement, but all will yield peace when the believer applies the verse to his heart. Our hearts are truly the windows to the soul. The heart reveals what it has been fed. Has it been fed with fears of what surrounds us or has it been fed with God’s word? That is what decides how a believer will interpret the circumstances presented throughout his day.

Notice the progression of the three verses above. First we gain peace when we love God’s law and whatever we learn from His word, we won’t be offended. Self can interfere with what the Holy Spirit has to teach. If I am unclear as to what His message is for me, I study it out so I will know His will. And lastly, I am promised a blessing if I read and hear what the Holy Spirit is trying to teach me. More specifically, I will receive a blessing when I read and hear about the end times. I’ve always believed that knowledge is power, and it is when it comes to knowing what to expect during the end times. When we know what to expect, it won’t take us by surprise, amen?

A person who fears the circumstances surrounding him frets over the the COVID-19 virus, over the political climate, and feels inundated with tasks looming over him. He gets overwhelmed. Living in fear robs a person of the joy that the Lord and His word can bring to a soul. Are you this person today, friend? If this sums up what’s in your heart, take time to let the Comforter do His work in you. Take time out of your busy schedule and pick up your bible. Put effort into your reading and you will find reward at the end of that effort.

I understand more than the ancients, because I keep Jesus! It’s a cold, brisk wintery day here. The beauty of the snow in the above picture has so much meaning to me in light of today’s Scripture. Snow has never changed since the Lord Jesus created it for the seasons (Gen. 1:14). It puts life into perspective. The same snow created today was created the same way by the same God, reader! Doesn’t that excite you? There’s nothing new under the sun! God is constant in His power and faithfulness.

Ecc 1:9  The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

The same Lord who guided Adam, Abraham, Moses, David and all the ancients guides you and I, Christian! Isn’t that encouraging to you? These ancients either spoke directly with God or they searched the Scriptures for their answers. We have the same blessing of speaking with God directly. We come to Him in prayer and He answers us through His word. We have no need to be taught by anyone other than God if we seek the Scriptures faithfully. The bible contains His words and who better to teach us than Him? The Third Person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, inspired those to write what God wanted in the Scriptures. This same Holy Spirit is the One responsible for teaching us. Isn’t that a blessing to you?

Joh 14:26  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Notice how the Holy Spirit is referred to as the Comforter? Not all things in your life bring comfort. The death of a loved one is not comforting at all. But the believer can receive comfort from the One who is known as the Comforter! Jesus taught His disciples to look to the Comforter for teaching and bringing to mind what we’ve read in the Scriptures so that we may glean from God’s words! We cannot glean if we have not spent time reading, amen?

The same God who helped David in today’s verse is the same God helping us today, my friend! He never changes – He is ever faithful!

Heb 13:8  Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Does this not encourage you? It surely does me!! I never have to question God’s motives because I know that anything He allows in my life is because He loves me. He does not plan evil for me. Even though I suffer pain, it is because of His love for me. What, you ask? It is through pain that our faith is increased. Sometimes our suffering is self inflicted (i.e. alcoholism), but you can be assured that our faithful Father is there to help us to overcome. A good analogy is this: A father is walking alongside his child. The child slips and falls, scraping his knee. Is it the father’s fault that the child fell? No. But the father is right there, ready to pick up his child, bandage his knee and comfort him. That’s what the Scriptures do for us. We may be hurt, but the Father is there ready to help us to heal.

Once we understand that we need to turn to God’s word daily, we will understand His ways. Yes, we will understand more than the ancients because we have eternal salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord. We have the unique privilege of possibly seeing the return (our blessed hope) of our Saviour in our lifetime! Rejoice, saint!

Tit 2:13  Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

Psalm 119:44 So shall I keep thy law continually for ever ...

I have more understanding than all my teachers: for Jesus is my meditation! It’s a beautiful new day in the Lord and we find ourselves with another opportunity to keep Him at the center of our lives. When we do so, we can detect lies; we can detect the enemy at work all around us; we know how to handle whatever the enemy throws our way! The latter part of verse 99 says that Jesus is my meditation. If this is proven true in my life, then I will have His will and not mine as my focus, amen?

Gal 2:20  I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Being crucified with Christ means that the needs of others supersede my own needs. Christ could have said no to death but He didn’t. He knew that without His death, burial and resurrection, mankind would be doomed. But His love for His creation superseded the pain He would suffer on the cross. This is the epitome of love, my friend. We must love others as Christ did. He died for the sins of all mankind, not just a few disciples. Can we say that we would do the same? Scripture says that dying for a friend shows great love. But could we?

Joh 15:13  Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

But if the Lord is at the center of our thoughts and we desire His will, we inevitably sacrifice ourselves with Him, amen? We say no to fleshly desires and place others’ needs before our own. It’s not man’s nature to do so and this is why we must die to self daily in order to be more like the Lord! Our nature is to be selfish but Christ’s nature is centered in love.

Oh that I would be focused on Him so much so that I would see the needs of others before my own. This is my prayer for this new year! Lord, help me to keep my thoughts and heart centered on You. Help me put others before me so I can experience full joy in You!

Thou through Jesus has made me wiser than mine enemies: for He is ever with me!! Amen and amen! Good morning, dear readers. We’ve finished our first week in the new year! This may be the year that our Lord returns for His Bride!!! \o/ Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus!

Job 12:13  With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.

In Jesus Christ, the Word of God, is all wisdom! Who better to receive counsel and understanding than with Him? He is the Word of God and, therefore, is the ultimate provider of all wisdom, strength, counsel and understanding! Praise the Lord for His unspeakable Gift to us! How grateful I am to be able to be called a child of the King of Kings!

Isa 55:9  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Psa 147:5  Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.

Child of a Frosty Morning: Musings of a Well-Traveled ...

The One who knows all is able to guide us through the most difficult of trials and tribulations, my friend! His understanding is infinite according to Psa 147:5. He knows all things and, therefore, can provide us with exactly what we need, when we need it! How? He speaks to us through His word, through our Christian friends, through our Pastor’s messages. These are only a few ways but He shows us nonetheless. He even provides comfort in times of desperation. When my husband was very sick, I was at my wits’ end and begged the Lord for a sign to show me His love. I begged Him to let me know that everything would be alright and that He was in control. No sooner had that thought left my head, a white squirrel appeared as I was gazing out my window. The white squirrel is a variation of the gray squirrel and is very, very rare! That’s how loving my God is! So loving that He blessed me with a rare phenomenon! <3 Was this just a coincidence? Some may think so but the Lord, in His wisdom, knew that this would lift my spirits and would encourage me to keep going!

He promises that He will always be there, whenever we need Him!

Heb 13:5  Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

That’s my God! That’s my Jesus! Thank You, Lord!

O how love I Jesus! my meditation all the day. Good morning from Virginia! I love the footprints in the snow in this picture. It’s as if I am taking a walk with the Lord and sharing with Him all that troubles me. I picture Him listening as a father listens to a child. Any parent can tell you that there’s nothing more wonderful than a child coming to him with all his cares! I trust my Father in heaven to have only my best interest at heart as He molds me into the likeness of His Son! Jesus is my meditation all the day. Everything we say and do should start with Jesus being at the center, amen?

Rom 8:29  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Eph 4:13-14  Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:  (14)  That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

The Holy Spirit teaches us with one goal in mind: to mold us into the image of Christ so that we are no more like children. Children believe everything they hear. Young believers can be easily swayed by the wind of false doctrine. The Holy Spirit’s job is to keep us on track as we read God’s word and teach us to recognize false doctrine when we hear it. It’s exactly like bank tellers learning to spot counterfeit money. They study real money so much that they can easily spot what is not real! We can only achieve this by reading and studying God’s word. The Apostle Paul exhorts us to be studious:

Act 17:10-11  And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.  (11)  These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

When we sit in church listening to the preaching, are we as Bereans? Do we later go home and make sure that what we have heard is according to God’s word? The Holy Spirit gives you a discerning heart so that you can spot a counterfeit.

1 Cor 2:9-16  But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.  (10)  But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.  (11)  For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.  (12)  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.  (13)  Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.  (14)  But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.  (15)  But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.  (16)  For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

One cannot know the things of God if one does not read his bible. It is your source of life and the source for all spiritual knowledge.

If your bible is not at the center of your daily walk, you cannot grow spiritually, friend. It is God’s word which brings eternal life and afterwards, it quickens us and stirs us to be more like Him.

Joh 6:63  It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

If you do not have a set time of day where you allow the Lord to pierce your heart, you need to. We’ve just started a new year and now’s the time to draw nearer to Him. His word cleanses and purifies, amen?

Jas 4:8  Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

I have seen an end of all perfection: but Jesus is exceeding broad. Good morning! I love starting my day with God’s word as well as sharing this moment with you, dear reader! There’s comfort in knowing that we share this in common: loving the Lord Jesus and finding Him repeatedly hidden in verses that we have read over and over! 🙂 I once did a study on the various Jewish feasts and how Christ is revealed in each one. If you have not already done this study, I highly recommend it! It’s quite beautiful and it shows the perfection of God’s word!

In today’s verse, David explains how he had seen mankind’s “perfection” but that it was no comparison the word’s perfection. God’s law, His word (Jesus Christ is the Word), is exceedingly perfect in every way. David knew this. He experienced living according to God’s word and the blessings it brought to his life. It’s no different with Christ. Once we are saved, He freely gives His Holy Spirit to reside within us and His Holy Spirit teaches us in all things. All we have to do is to seek!

Joh 14:26  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Oh that believers would spend time in their bible seeking what God has for them for the day! Why do you think Jesus included this in the Lord’s Prayer?

Mat 6:11  Give us this day our daily bread.

Matthew 6:8 tells us that our Father knows what things we need before we even ask Him. So what does verse 11 encourage us to ask Him for our food? I believe that we are encouraged to ask Him for our daily spiritual food. Reveal to me, Oh Lord, what you would have me to learn this day! Open my eyes, Lord, so that I can grow closer to You!

Psa 119:18  Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.

Lord, I want to behold marvelous things from Your word: things that will draw me to Your side and things that will reveal Your character! My heart is yours, Lord. Mold me and shape me in Your likeness so others will be attracted to You. May this prayer come from my lips each and every day so Jesus can be “exceeding broad”!

Fanny Crosby, although blind, new the true meaning of today’s verse. It was evident in this beautiful hymn she wrote. Despite her circumstances, she was drawn to the Lord’s side. Sing with me 🙂

Draw Me Nearer

  1. I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
    And it told Thy love to me;
    But I long to rise in the arms of faith
    And be closer drawn to Thee.
    • Refrain:
      Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
      To the cross where Thou hast died;
      Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
      To Thy precious, bleeding side.
  2. Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
    By the pow’r of grace divine;
    Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
    And my will be lost in Thine.
  3. Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
    That before Thy throne I spend,
    When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
    I commune as friend with friend!
  4. There are depths of love that I cannot know
    Till I cross the narrow sea;
    There are heights of joy that I may not reach
    Till I rest in peace with Thee.

The wicked have waited for me to destroy me: but I will consider Jesus! Happy New Year!! Even though it’s snowing outside, I’m kept warm and dry inside. Furthermore, I am warm in my heart as I sit and dwell on God’s word! Pick up your bible, friend, and let’s start 2021 discussing today’s verse.

If you are living a life for Christ, you can be certain there will be struggles with the enemy, amen?! Struggles have come from those within my own family and church family. 🙁 But as I look back on these difficult times, I see where God used them to strengthen my faith as well as my stand on His word!

I have been watching a documentary on Scientology where former members are speaking out on the abuse they suffered at Scientology’s hand. Apparently if you leave Scientology, its members will seek to destroy you with outrageous false statements, seek to destroy your family, your career, and your finances. They use whatever measures they can to accomplish that goal. Although they deny doing this, the former members are left to pick up the pieces of their lives – some all alone because their family members have stayed with Scientology and they can no longer get in touch with them. It’s really quite sad!! I have to admit that my struggles were never even close to what these dear people went through. But what is the saddest is that these former members probably won’t even want to seek salvation through Christ after they have been deceived so badly. 🙁 They probably will lump Christianity with other cults like Scientology.

But the one thing that Christianity does provide is true peace. That is something no other religion can provide. All religions have a “works based” foundation. One must do something good in order to achieve peace but there is never total peace. However, Christ provides that total peace.

John14:27  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

You can travel the world over searching for peace, but you will not find it. It can be found at the feet of Jesus Christ. He warned us that life would have its tribulations but He would give us peace in the midst of the storms!

John 16:33  These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Acts 10:36  The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

Rom 14:17  For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Some religions state they provide that inner peace (Buddhism, Hinduism, etc.) but it’s not a peace that goes beyond comprehension like what Christ promises. Those religions involve works and there are steps that you must take to achieve that peace. That is the works of Satan and his direction is false. What’s the difference? Jesus Christ did all the work for us and He is the only way to achieve salvation.

Joh 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

All we must do is believe in faith that He is the Son of God, He came to earth by virgin birth, lived a sinless life, died on the cross to shed His blood to become the perfect sacrifice for payment of our sins, then rose from the dead. He now sits in Heaven awaiting His return! If you believe this in faith, you need not do one iota of work in order to go to Heaven. It is Christ who has done all the work – not you.

Rom 4:24-25  But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;  (25)  Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

Once you’re saved from sin, you receive that peace that is incomprehensible! No one can explain this peace unless he has been saved.

Php 4:7  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Why is this? It is because we realize how much we have sinned and what Christ had to go through in order to save us! Amen? If you want to know exactly what He went through in order for you to be saved, click on this link: Medical Description of Crucifixion of Jesus When I realized how Christ suffered just to give me peace, my heart breaks! It’s because of my sins that He gave Himself!

I pray this devotional has blessed you in some way and has opened your eyes to what peace is truly about!!

I am thine, save me; for I have sought Jesus!! Yesssss! I sought Jesus on April 1st, 1980, and have never looked back! He saved me from my horrible sinful life and transformed me into a new creature! My old self never thought about a close, personal relationship with God. However, once I was born again, Jesus was always at the forefront of my thinking! He was the first thing I thought of when I opened my eyes and the last thing when I went to sleep!

2Co 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

There is something different in your life once you are saved. Past sins do not seem enticing as they once did. The use of the Lord’s name in vain is now horrible to your ears. The thought of stealing, cursing or lying is now very convicting to your heart. Your heart has changed.

2 Co 7:10  For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

Rom 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

At the moment of my salvation, I felt as though a hundred pounds had been lifted from my shoulders! The change was immediate and my heart was very different from a few moments before! Has your heart been changed, reader? Have you experienced the wonderful salvation that Christ provides? You must be born again … that old life spoken of in 2 Cor. 5:17 passes away and you receive a new life in Christ. You will spend eternity with Him in Heaven!

Joh 3:3-7  Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.  (4)  Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?  (5)  Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.  (6)  That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.  (7)  Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

Imagine a new born baby … innocent with childlike faith! That is what Jesus says must happen to anyone seeking Him. Let His Holy Spirit speak to your heart and heed His calling.

Luke 13:3  I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Acknowledge to God that you are a sinner in need of saving! Repent of your sin and accept His death, burial and resurrection for those sins as payment.

Rom 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

You can’t work your way to Heaven! Christ had compassion on His creation and realized they could never do enough works or sacrifices to even come close to entering His sinless Heaven. That is what He came to earth – He is the only One whose only mission at birth was to die for mankind!

Eph 2:8-9  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  (9)  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Accept God’s gift to man today! Celebrate this season with a new mind and heart and give that gift to Jesus!

Joh 3:16-18  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  (17)  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.  (18)  He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

I will never forget Jesus: for with Him thou hast quickened me! Good morning, Reader! Today’s verse excites me as I study God’s word and dig deeper for a blessing! It still amazes me how the Lord does this! He rewards those who seek Him and His truth, amen? I pray you are as blessed as I am with today’s Scripture!

Quickened is found seven times (God’s perfect number) in the bible.

Psa 119:50  This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.
Psa 119:93  I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me.
1 Cor 15:36  Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:
Eph 2:1  And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
Eph 2:5  Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Col 2:13  And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
1Pet 3:18  For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

The word quicken means to make alive, to revive and to resuscitate! So with that definition in mind, re-read the verses above. Hallelujah! We have been made alive through Christ, amen?! We are no longer dead to sin but are alive by Him!

I thought it would be a blessing to search the Scriptures for the word quicken and its various forms. The word quicken is found 13 times: 12 in the Old Testament and once in New Testament. The Old Testament has the word quicken 12 times. The number twelve symbolizes God’s power and authority, as well as serving as a perfect governmental foundation. It is God that does the quickening. It’s interesting that the meaning of the number one reflects the Oneness of the Godhead. The Trinity is reflected as One God in the following verse:

1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

Furthermore, the word quickeneth is found five times and all five are in the New Testament! The definition for the number five symbolizes God’s grace, goodness and favor toward mankind. He clearly defines the word quickeneth in the following verses and reveals that grace, goodness and favor:

Joh 5:21  For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
Joh 6:63  It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
Rom 4:17  (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
1 Ti 6:13  I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;

Reading through these verses truly does quicken me! I can read them over and over and will be quickened each time. They excite my spirit and revive me, for sure! How about you? Please leave a comment and share if you have received a blessing as well!

Bible Verse of the Day - Daily Scripture, Daily Devotions

Unless Jesus had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction. Good morning, dear Reader! What a delight to be able to join together to read and meditate on God’s holy word! The Scriptures open up when we take the time to actually think and research!! Today is no different. As I dug into the reason why David wrote this verse, I discovered that he wrote this at the time he was fleeing Saul and was forced to live amongst the Philistines. If you recall, Goliath was a Philistine and David had killed him and many Philistine men. But here he was living amongst the enemy! This opens up the verse, doesn’t it?

David most likely carried God’s law with him and centered his thoughts on the word so he could survive in a heathen environment. It would take supernatural power to keep someone from caving into the sins of the world around him. We, too, are surrounded by an unbelieving world. In today’s culture, the Christian is challenged at every turn. An example of this: the law of the land says it’s OK to abort a baby but God’s law says Ex. 20:7 Thou shalt not kill! A baby’s heart begins to pump blood and provide that baby with oxygen when he is 16 days old in the womb! Lev 17:11a  For the life of the flesh is in the blood: That baby is alive according to the Scriptures. What God’s word says is final. Therefore, an abortion is breaking God’s law even though the law of the land says it’s not! Who does one obey?

The Scriptures provide us with everything we need to make righteous decisions, Christian! It heals us when we are broken hearted and discouraged; it quickens us when we need to be convicted of sin; it teaches us so we can teach our families and others that God puts in our path to lead to Him! I love this quote by C.H. Spurgeon:

The word of God delighted in is the afflicted saint’s antidote against ruin and destruction. The word of God is the sick saint’s salve, the dying saint’s cordial, a precious medicine to keep God’s people from perishing in time of affliction.

C.H. Spurgeon

Yes, indeed! Are you discouraged by the circumstances surrounding our Country’s political and financial climate? Don’t be. None of this takes the Lord by surprise. He is able to lift you up when you are downtrodden! Take up His word and read as David did! David proved it in his writings: the word “delight” appears seven times in Psalm 119 alone! Seven is God’s perfect number – I doubt this is a coincidence 🙂 If we view the Scriptures with delight, He will keep us!

Psa 119:16  I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.
Psa 119:24  Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellors.
Psa 119:35  Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight.
Psa 119:47  And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.
Psa 119:70  Their heart is as fat as grease; but I delight in thy law.
Psa 119:77  Let thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live: for thy law is my delight.
Psa 119:174  I have longed for thy salvation, O LORD; and thy law is my delight.

Is God’s word a delight to you, Christian? A new year is close and it appears that it will bring with it many challenges for the believer! Are you ready to deal with those challenges? We must stand ready and put on the full armor of God in order to lead others to Him. Our time is short – I truly believe this. Let’s make the most of what time we have left!

Pin on Serving the Lord and my family.

They continue this day according to Jesus: for all are thy servants. Good morning, reader! Thank you for joining me this morning. I pray you get a blessing!

The best explanation for this verse can be found in Job, chapter 38:4 through 40:2. Please take a few minutes and read through these verses. It puts today’s verse into perspective. It not only puts us in our place so we can be humble but it also teaches us that God is revealing to Job that all things are sustained by Him. The creator of all things is responsible to sustain them all. This is why we must be thankful and grateful to God for all that we have! This covers a wide gamut in one’s life! The moment my eyes open in the morning, I can count my blessings! As I go through my tasks during the day, I can give thanks to the One who has provided the need or given me the strength to accomplish the task!

Dear reader, it is because of Jesus that we are able to do anything. He is the provider of all things good in our lives!

Deu 2:7  For the LORD thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the LORD thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.

1 Sam 2:8  He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD’S, and he hath set the world upon them.

1 Chr 29:12  Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.

Psa 68:9  Thou, O God, didst send a plentiful rain, whereby thou didst confirm thine inheritance, when it was weary.

Psa 147:8-9  Who covereth the heaven with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth, who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains. 9  He giveth to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry.

Matt 6:26  Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Mat 6:31-33  Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32  (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Act 14:17  Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

Php 4:19  But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

2 Pe 1:3  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

My friend, if you’re feeling discouraged today, take a moment to look around you. Do you have dishes to wash? Thank the Lord that there was food on those dishes. Do you have mountains of laundry? Thank the Lord that you have your family! Do you have a long drive into work? Thank the Lord for the job He has blessed you with! There is always something to be thankful for so count your blessings!

But most of all, during this season where we celebrate the birth of the Saviour of all mankind, let us be thankful that the Father sent His only Son to pay the penalty for our wicked sins so that we may have eternal life with Him! His birth, sinless life, death and resurrection are the very foundation of Christianity! The Creator paid the debt for His creation so that He could spend eternity in fellowship with His creation! That is true love! Amen?!

Psalm 119:90 (KJV) Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth. | Psalm 119, Bible scriptures, Psalms

Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth. Good morning, dear reader! I pray you are being blessed by this series. I would love to hear from you so please leave a comment 🙂 It’s a nippy day in Virginia and I praise the Lord for heat in my home. I thank Him for providing for our needs!

Although today’s verse doesn’t have one of the synonyms we’ve been following in this devotional, there are words that fully describe the Lord, Jesus Christ. For example, “Thy faithfulness” – there are quite a few verses that describe Him as faithful.

Isa 49:7  Thus saith the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee.

1Th_5:24  Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

Heb_10:23  Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

1Jn_1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Psa 89:34-37 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.  (35)  Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David.  (36)  His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me. (37)  It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah.

Jer_42:5  Then they said to Jeremiah, The LORD be a true and faithful witness between us, if we do not even according to all things for the which the LORD thy God shall send thee to us.

Rev_1:5  And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Furthermore, we know that today’s verse describes Jesus because He is the One who created all things.

Col 1:12-17  Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:  (13)  Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:  (14)  In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:  (15)  Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:  (16)  For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:  (17)  And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

For anyone who is searching for truth, there is no other book ever written that is error free like the bible. The Scriptures have been left to us so those who are searching can find the Saviour of mankind. That Saviour is the very One who created mankind, therefore, that Creator is the only one who can save His creation! There is no other, reader! Not Buddha, Allah, Confucius; Mary cannot save – the catholic church cannot save – no church can save. Only Jesus Christ can save mankind.

Isa_43:11  I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.

Act 4:10-12  Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.  (11)  This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.  (12)  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

If you are searching and this post stirs up anger or doubt, remember that the Scriptures are the mouthpiece of God to man. If you want to learn the truth, the Scriptures are where you will find it. Don’t take my word for it but study for yourself. There is no other way to heaven… NO other way, but through Jesus Christ.

For ever, O LORD, Jesus is settled in heaven. Good morning, dear reader! Let’s praise the Lord for His unending grace and mercy toward us! His blessings are unending – we just need to recognize each one and give Him the glory for all that He does in our lives, amen?! Our heavenly Father gave His only Son to pay the penalty for our sins so that we could have eternal fellowship with Him! That alone is the biggest blessing of all! John 3:16 outlines it all! John 3:16

Jesus Christ: Saviour, Son of God, word of God, Second Person of the Trinity, Lord of all, King of Kings, Alpha and Omega, Advocate, and Shepherd. These are only a few of the names given to our Saviour and King! We could almost post one name per day and it would take us almost a year to cover each one! In fact, maybe it will be the next devotional 🙂 John 1:1

There is only one way to heaven, friend, no matter if the world tries to say differently. No one can point us to salvation and to the Father but Christ. 1 Tim. 2:5 John 14:6 One can argue until he’s blue in the face but that won’t change God’s word. His word is settled – that means it’s final – it’s established – it’s for ever!

The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

Isa 40:8

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Mat 24:35

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Pro 30:5

God’s words were given to mankind so we could find our way to Him. His words point to Christ’s redemptive work so that we may accept His sacrifice as payment for our sin. In so doing, we receive eternal life through Him! Hallelujah! Praise Him! A simple search of the phrase “eternal life” comes up 26 times in the King James Bible. It’s the Scriptures that will lead you to Him! John 5:39 Is it any wonder that the world will make fun of the bible and the devil will do his utmost best to keep you from it?

Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep Jesus! What a beautiful prayer to be speaking to the Lord this morning! Oh Jesus, my Saviour and Shepherd, quicken me and make me alive in Your word. Change me, oh God, and teach me this day. Reveal Your endless grace in my life so I can be a testimony and pointing others to You! Help me, Father, to keep You at the center of my heart … may You sit on that throne of my heart and not me! Teach me today to show others Your beautiful and wonderful grace!

God’s lovingkindness is what is the very foundation of our Christianity, don’t you think? It is this lovingkindness that brings grace into our lives. Grace is defined by Noah Webster as: the free unmerited love and favor of God, the spring and source of all the benefits men receive from him.

We can do nothing to earn that grace and we can do nothing to keep it. It is by the free and undeserved love from God that we gain our salvation after all. John 3:16 reveals this and shows us this grace placed into action. God loved, therefore, He sent His Son to take on our punishment! Oh dear friend, what rejoicing this brings to my heart! Sing with me this morning and praise His Name!!!

Wonderful Grace of Jesus

Wonderful grace of Jesus,
Greater than all my sin;
How shall my tongue describe it,
Where shall its praise begin?
Taking away my burden,
Setting my spirit free;
For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.

Refrain:
Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus,
Deeper than the mighty rolling sea;
Higher than the mountain, sparkling like a fountain,
All-sufficient grace for even me!
Broader than the scope of my transgressions,
Greater far than all my sin and shame;
Oh, magnify the precious Name of Jesus,
Praise His Name!

Wonderful grace of Jesus,
Reaching to all the lost,
By it I have been pardoned,
Saved to the uttermost;
Chains have been torn asunder,
Giving me liberty;
For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.

Refrain

Wonderful grace of Jesus,
Reaching the most defiled,
By its transforming power,
Making him God’s dear child,
Purchasing peace and heaven
For all eternity—
And the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.

Refrain

Bible Verse of the Day - Daily Scripture, Daily Devotions

They had almost consumed me upon earth, but I forsook not Jesus! Good morning, dear reader! Winter is here and the mornings are getting colder and colder. Despite the cold outside, my heart is warmed by how God’s words unfold its truths to teach, lead and direct. How blessed we are … so blessed! Thank You, Lord, for giving us what we need each and every day. May we never take advantage of this!

Today’s verse shows us where David stood in his relationship with God. His feet were firmly planted in God and nothing would shake him lose. Even his friends and enemies were trying, but David continued to say that he did not forsake God. We are promised God’s faithfulness in the verse below, but what about our faithfulness?

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

Heb 10:23

There will be times that we feel as though we are surrounded by our enemies and the thought of giving up is certainly easier than continuing in the battle. But what reward is there in giving up? It only serves to make one feel guilty for doing so and to lose the joy of one’s salvation! Why beat yourself up later? Why not stay in the battle and continue to fight? Why not stay faithful? It will be so worth it to hear Jesus say you’ve done a good job, amen?

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

1 TiM 6:12

His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Mat 25:23

I truly believe that one loses the will to continue in his Christian walk because he has not experienced heart changing moments. When we dig our noses into God’s word desiring His will, we cannot help but change through the power of the Holy Spirit. It’s a natural progression, if you will. Take the time now to draw nearer to Him so you can overcome the battles as David did.

MY TREASURE BOX" : INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES: PSALMS 119:86

Jesus is faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help thou me. GOOD MORNING!!! Praying your day is going well and that you are receiving blessings from this blog. Won’t you please leave me a comment when you visit? It encourages me to know that I’m not just writing for myself 🙂 Today’s verse is so encouraging to my heart! We know that the Scriptures are true and when God tells us that He is faithful, it is true!

Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

Deu 7:9

God does not break His covenant! We may stray from Him but He will not stray from us. The word of God says that Jesus’ blood is His covenant with the believer – it’s everlasting! There is no expiration date on our salvation. It is not dependent on anything we do but instead it has everything to do with what Jesus did, amen?

Heb 13:20  Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

The word of God further says that we are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise! The Spirit woos us to salvation, friend. (Eph. 1:13) Once we are sealed, we are God’s for eternity – through the everlasting covenant of Jesus’ blood! There is no breaking that seal by mankind. God sealed it and that’s it! I challenge you to do a word search in your Bible of the word “seal.” It’s so encouraging to read all the verses which reference the word.

I leave you with this particular one:

(21) Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;  (22)  Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

2 Cor 1:21-22

Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary defines the word “stablish” as:

STABLISHverb transitive [Latin See Stab.] To fix; to settle in a state for permanence; to make firm

http://webstersdictionary1828.com/

The Holy Spirit has sealed us and continually provides us with what we need to bring glory to God and His Kingdom! Live like you are a child of the King, Christian! Represent Him by being faithful to His cause … lead others to Him! Have a blessed day!!

Bible Verse of the Day - Daily Scripture, Daily Devotions

The proud have digged pits for me, which are not after Jesus. Good morning! It’s a cloudy morning here in Culpeper, Virginia but there is “Son”shine in my heart despite the weather or circumstances. We are encouraged by God’s word to always remember this. The following verses are only a few of what one can feast on at the Scriptures’ banquet table! Today’s verse clearly tells us that the unsaved look for ways to trap believers in their faith. David was no different. David was solid enough in his faith to know that these pits were created by those who did not believe. The enemy couldn’t care less about God’s word and what it stands for.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,  (39)  Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38-39

(11) For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.  (12)  Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.  (13)  And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Jeremiah 29:11-13

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Rom 8:1

I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

Proverbs 8:17

Why does Satan go to such lengths to destroy God’s word? He knows that the Scriptures have power and its effect on the believer cannot be measured! Have you ever been so down in the dumps spiritually and begged God to give you “something” in His word to encourage you? Then you open your Bible and voila! There’s the right verse at just the right time!!! 🙂 Yes, indeed! This happens frequently to the believe who goes searching.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Heb 4:12

David was no different except for the fact that he did not have the written word of God in his hands as we do today! How blessed we are, amen?!!! Take advantage of this, Christian! There may come a day before the Rapture when believers will be imprisoned for their beliefs and they won’t have a Bible to open. That believer will need to resort to remembering the Scriptures they have memorized. How familiar are you with your Bible? Take advantage of the time you have on your hands to dig in and commit to memory all that you can, Christian.

God bless your day and give you the courage to be bold for His cause. Don’t give up but keep pressing forward!

Psalm 119:84 How many are the days of your servant? when ...

How many are the days of thy servant? when wilt thou execute Jesus on them that persecute me? How blessed I am to be able to have this quiet time with the Lord and to dig into His word! So many around the world do not have His word easily available. The sun hasn’t risen yet for me and the house is still – my heart is ready to be stirred! Excite me with your message today, oh Lord, and quicken me!

Today’s verse is a “heavy” one! David is asking the Lord how long he must wait to see judgment passed on those who persecuted him. Goodness, David, you are not alone! There have been times where I have been hurt by another believer or wrongfully accused. I must admit I have asked the Lord when He would execute His judgment! Yes, Jesus will be the judge of all things, my friend. According to His word, He will judge the world in righteousness:

Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

Acts 17:31

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

2 Corinthians 5:10

For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:

John 5:22

There are many more verses which show that Christ is and will be the judge of all things. Friend, no matter how much we have been wronged by others, the bible teaches us that Jesus will bring all things done in secret to light. Your enemies’ motives will be brought to light one day and Jesus will judge.

For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.

Mark 4:22

Don’t be discouraged – don’t be the judge – don’t take matters into your own hands, Christian. Let the Judge of all take care of these matters in His own time. There is coming a day when all things will be revealed. Better still, do inventory on your own life and check your own heart. Be at peace as much as possible and let the Lord take care of matters beyond your control.

For I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget Jesus. Good morning, reader! It’s a glorious day in the Lord, isn’t it? Despite what is going on in the world around us, we are blessed to be able to open God’s word and be reassured that He is still in control, amen? A little history lesson is needed to be able to interpret today’s verse. At the time of its writing, wine was kept in skins. When they were emptied, they were kept in a tent. The skins became black with soot when the tent was filled with smoke. Furthermore, when they became over heated, they would get wrinkled and worn out.

David’s comparing himself to one of these wine skins. His weather beaten face is now wrinkled and worn. The world has beaten him down due to his poor testimony. He feels defeated but yet he does not forget God’s word! Friend, there is nothing in your life that can be so bad that the Lord can’t heal and turn around. After all, David was an adulterer and he ordered Uriah’s murder. But yet God saw fit to include David’s writing in the Scriptures so we could reap from them! There is nothing in your life that can’t be forgiven and nothing that can’t be healed.

This is a message of hope, Christian! Despite David’s sin having worn him down, he still hoped in God’s word and it upheld him. No matter what has happened in my life, I am encouraged when I open my bible and read. There is a verse (many times more than one) that can be found which will encourage your heart and put your mind at ease.

Isaiah 41:10  Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

David had gotten old and worn, but his heart was fixed on the Lord. He knew that God’s word was the only thing that was steady. This is true today! Despite what is going on around us, we have the wonderful words of God easily available to us. We have the internet where we have all the resources available to read! This was not so in David’s day. We are so blessed, Christian!

Are you feeling old, unusable, worn and exhausted? You are not alone! But re-read Isaiah 41:10 and encourage yourself in the Lord! God has a purpose for you no matter how old you are. There’s always a task that needs to be done – always a heart that needs to be encouraged – always someone in need of a smile or word of encouragement. This won’t remove the wrinkles but it will soften the face 🙂 Be that someone!!

Bible Verse of the Day - Daily Scripture, Daily Devotions

Mine eyes fail for Jesus, saying, When wilt thou comfort me? Have you ever hoped for something for a long time and then got discouraged because what you hoped for was taking too long? One has a tendency of getting discouraged when one has to wait too long. This reminds me of Proverbs 13:12.

Pro 13:12  Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.

Today’s verse is a blessing to me. When I was first saved, I read my Bible at least four to five hours nearly every day. My husband worked evenings and I would read until I couldn’t keep my eyes opened anymore. The Lord used this time to draw me near to Him.

My husband was not saved and he truly resented the woman I had become. I was no longer the woman he had married and my interests had changed. I no longer cursed and didn’t like to “party” anymore. This upset my husband and life became unbearable. I turned to the Lord over and over praying and hoping that my husband would get saved so that we would not be unequally yoked. My hope for his salvation kept being “deferred” and it was discouraging at times. Oh how I wanted the Lord Jesus to make Himself known to my husband and for His Holy Spirit to change his heart!

I’m sure each of you reading this has something they’ve been praying and your prayer has not been answered yet. Or maybe it has and it’s not the expected end you had hoped for! Dear reader, Jesus will answer your petitions but not always the way you want. Here’s a quote by Charles Spurgeon which is truly a blessing:

We may not set times to God, for this is to limit the Holy One of Israel; yet we may urge our suit with importunity, and make fervent enquiry as to why the promise tarries.

Charles spurgeon

The Lord wants to hear from us. He wants us to tell Him exactly what we’re feeling – our fears – our anxieties. After all, He is our Father and we are important to Him. Share those fears with Him… He awaits to hear from you!
