Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn Jesus! Oh yes!! What a blessing this verse is for today! In light of the abortion controversy, this verse proves that God was the One who designed me! Noah Webster defines “fashioned” as:

Made; formed; shaped; fitted; adapted.

God shaped me into the person He wanted me to be. He fitted me with everything I would need in my life! He adapted (made me suitable) for His mission. My word, friend, does this not excite you? Every detail within my DNA was designed with a purpose! The first and foremost priority in one’s life is to accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour. There is no other name under heaven that one can call on to be saved from our sins.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Act 4:12  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

What an impact these two verses have on an individual. This is where the rubber meets the road. You have to get this part of your life straight before you can see what God’s intentions are for you. He designed you with a purpose. What is your purpose? With the salvation that God has gifted to you through His Son, your responsibility is to communicate this to others. It doesn’t matter what platform you use, whether person to person or through a blog such as this. Just use that and tell others the wonderful news of Jesus Christ! Yes, He IS the Good News in a world gone mad! He alone brings peace in the midst of chaos and suffering! Amen?

Psalms 119:72 by mvcquotes on DeviantArt

Jesus’s words are better unto me than thousands of gold and silver! Just what would you pay to obtain absolute truth? If you knew that someone could provide you with all the answers to life, give you direction in the way you should live your life, and even provide you with a secure spot in Heaven, just how much would you pay that person? I’d venture to say if there was such a person, you’d probably sell everything you had to have these kinds of guarantees, amen?

Psa 19:9  The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. 10  More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

God’s word provides us everything we need in life. It endures forever according to Psalm 19:9. But what else does God’s word provide to us? First and foremost, its pages depict salvation which secures where we spend eternity. There are countless verses which show us the way but these two show us who provides that salvation and where the “world” gets it wrong:

Eph 2:8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Secondly, once we recognize that God is the source of everything we have, we can rest assured He will provide exactly what we need, when we need it! Amen? The Bible guarantees peace and joy when we seek God’s will for our lives. We may not like the situation we are in but rest assured that God has allowed it for His glory and for your benefit!

Php 4:19  But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Where are you today, Christian? Are you dependent on money and status more than Christ and His provision in life? Do a moral inventory and see where you’re sitting?

Daily Bible Verse - Psalm 119:70 | Psalm 119:70 Their heart … | Flickr

Their heart is fat as grease, but I delight in Jesus. Today’s verse reminds me of someone who delights in the “fat” of money, material excess, etc. What the heart desires, this person succumbs to it and does not deprive it of any worldly thing. However, David says that he delights in the Lord! David had wealth as a King and was able to get anything he wanted. But in today’s verse, we see that the Lord was his delight.

Where does that leave me? Let’s ask ourselves a few questions: Where does my heart delight? In what does my heart delight? What do I put before my love for the Lord? Where do the things of God appear in my daily calendar? Is He the last thing I turn to, if at all? These are all pretty poignant and soul searching questions but ones we should ask ourselves when doing our moral inventory.

When our eyes focus on giving our flesh all of its desires, our eyes are certainly not on the Lord. When our eyes are on the Lord, those worldly desires fall by the wayside and are no longer a priority.

Thou art good, and doest good; teach me Jesus! God is so patient and kind; there is nothing that He does that is not surrounded by love and goodness. So much so, He desires that all His creation be saved from eternity in Hell. He wants us all to repent and accept His Son’s work on the cross for the penalty for our sins. He gave His only Son in order to accomplish this task. What more love can be shown than to do this?

2Pe 3:9  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Everything we need in life is in God’s word. It teaches about salvation from the first pages of Genesis all the way through to Revelation. No other book guides mankind in this manner. Everything in its pages leads us to Christ. If only man would pick up the Bible and learn about Jesus. He can be found and will reveal Himself to you! Thank You, Lord!

Psalm 119:67 KJV | Bible quotes kjv, Psalm 119, Psalms

Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept Jesus. Trials have a way of drawing us to Christ’s side. When we are not afflicted, our hearts stray and Jesus is not our focus. However, when a trial comes into our lives, we have the tendency to turn to Jesus and seek His comfort and help. 1 Pe 5:10  But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

In order for you to have a car which is dependable, you spend time taking care of it: changing the oil, etc. That car is ready for travel and you’re not afraid that it will break down. It’s much the same with our relationship with Christ. If we were to nurture our time with Jesus when things are going well, we would not fall apart when a trial comes our way, amen? I believe this is what David was referring to today. It’s as though he is saying that now that he is “keeping his relationship with the Saviour,” afflictions will not cause him to stray from the Lord’s side. So it should be with us. It is also especially most needed during the trials. It is the Comforter’s job to minister to us but if we do not seek Him, we miss out on that blessed comfort!

Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed in Jesus! Today, the child of God is absolutely blessed with having God’s words written so that we can access it any time we want! It’s not limited to just Sunday services. I can turn to my Bible anywhere and any time! It illuminates, teaches and inspires us to becoming more like Christ! The words of God are given to us in order for us to be able to make wise decisions and to live a godly life! The whole purpose for our being on this earth is to fear God and to keep His commandments, amen?

Ecc 12:13  Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

The only way we can do this is by first being born again! Joh 3:3  Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Once we are saved, we receive the Holy Spirit and He is the One that teaches us in all things.

Joh 14:26  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

1Jn 2:27  But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

The Holy Spirit will teach us good judgment and knowledge. We must ask and seek. And when we are not sure, we knock until we have His answer!

Thou has dealt well with thy servant, O Lord, according unto Jesus. As we know, Jesus is the word of God. 1 Jn 5:7  For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. Jesus left His Kingly throne to come to earth to pay the price for the sins of mankind. The Law of the Old Testament was our schoolmaster that was to draw us to Christ. However, once Christ’s sacrifice on the cross was complete, the believer was justified by faith. We are no longer under the Law.

God is always fair and good. Not only that, He is merciful and just. He deals with us according to His word. When we are born again, we are justified through Christ. This is what the Father sees. We are no longer under condemnation the Father sees Christ’s righteousness in us. We are now a child of the King and are a part of His family! Praise God!!

The earth, O lord, is full of thy mercy, teach me Jesus! Salvation is open to everyone. There is not one person (past, present or future) who cannot be saved. It is a choice that every human being has to make.

Eph 2:8-9  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Rom 10:13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

If a person realizes a need for God in their life, the Lord will present an opportunity for the Gospel to be revealed in some way. Before I was saved, I joined a Bible study at my job at the invitation of a co-worker. I had no idea what was being discussed but that was the beginning of my journey. God saw the desire in my heart and He sent my best friend to share the Gospel with me.

If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Saviour and God has been working in your heart to seek Him, submit yourself and ask God for direction. He will not refuse for He seeks all to be saved.

1Ti 2:3-6  For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4  Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 5  For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6  Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

Psalm 119:62 KJV | Kjv, King james bible, Psalm 119

At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous Jesus!!!! There is none other who is righteous (no not one) as stated in Rom 3:12  They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Jesus is the only one and He alone could pay the price on Calvary.

1Co 1:30  But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

2Co 5:21  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Jer 33:15  In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.

Heb 7:2-3  To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; 3  Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.

Is there any better reason to rise up at midnight and to praise the One who gave His life for you??? I can’t imagine living without Christ in my life. I was saved from my horrible sin in April of 1980 and have never regretted it for a moment! What did I have to lose? I lost my sin of worry and anxiety. I lost my sin of self righteousness and deceit! I lost all those sins and what a burden was lifted!

Love Lifted Me

I was sinking deep in sin
Far from the peaceful shore
Very deeply stained within
Sinking to rise no more
But the Master of the sea
Heard my despairing cry
From the waters lifted me
Now safe am I

Love lifted me
Love lifted me
When nothing else could help
Love lifted me
Love lifted me
Love lifted me
When nothing else could help
Love lifted me

All my heart to Him I give
Ever to Him I’ll cling
In His blessed presence live
And ever His praises sing
Love so mighty and so true
It merits my soul’s best songs
Faithful, loving service, too
To Him belongs

Love lifted me
Love lifted me
When nothing else could help
Love lifted me
Love lifted me
Love lifted me
When nothing else could help
Love lifted me

Amen and amen!!

Daily Bible Verse - Psalm 119:61 | Psalm 119:61 The bands of… | Flickr

The bands of the wicked have robbed me: but I have not forgotten Jesus. Despite the horrible things surrounding David’s life, he didn’t forget God’s law. The same should go for us. No matter what trials you’re going through, don’t forget Jesus! He is the source of peace and truth. His word is truth and what He says He will do, He will do!

Joh_16:33  These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Jesus tells us to be of good cheer when we go through tribulation. Noah Webster defines this as:

To dispel gloom, sorrow, silence or apathy; to cause to rejoice; to gladden; to make cheerful; as, to cheer a lonely desert; the cheering rays of the sun; good news cheers the heart.

Cheer does not automatically come when we’re in the middle of a trial. Cheerfulness is a muscle that we have to exercise and strengthen. We need to purposefully concentrate on the positive and the blessings that have been bestowed upon us.

Php 4:8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

We can change our thinking by obeying Paul’s words in the above verse. In so doing, we take our eyes off our circumstances and place them on good things, amen?

I made haste, and delayed not to keep Jesus! Jesus is the fulfillment of all the scriptures. The Law of the Old Testament revealed Him as “in the future.” We believers of the New Testament see Him as having come once to die for all mankind’s sins and we are looking forward to His return.

But the words in today’s verse that pierce my heart is the word “delayed not”! Do I strive to keep the words that Christ shared with us in His short ministry on earth? I especially think of how Jesus broke the Law down to two simple commandments:

Mat 22:37-40  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38  This is the first and great commandment. 39  And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Do we strive daily to do these two? Everything we do in the course of the day should have these two verses in mind. This is how we delay not to keep Jesus! Amen and amen!

Psalm 119:59 KJV | Bible psalms, Psalms

I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto Jesus! No matter what you believe or don’t believe, something inside you tells you whether you’re doing right or wrong. Some call it a conscience, some call it a gut feeling. Whatever you choose to call it, we all have it within us.

For the born-again believer, it is the Holy Spirit who resides within us that reveals God’s will for us. He makes it clear when we are not obeying God through the Scriptures or what I like to call “eating my lunch”! 🙂 I love how God lets me know what He expects of me.

If you don’t hear that still small voice of the Lord in your life, maybe you have quenched His Spirit within you through disobedience. David tells us in today’s verse that he thought on his ways. This is what every Christian should do in order to improve his/her walk with God. Think on your ways and align them with God’s word. 1 Thess. 5:19  Quench not the Spirit.  The word “quench” is defined: To check; to stifle; as, to quench the Spirit. If we stifle the Holy Spirit’s work in our hearts, we literally choke Him out of our lives! We allow the weeds of sin to choke out the beautiful seed planted in our hearts when we got saved! It’s time to prune those weeds by beginning today! Jas_4:7  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

If you haven’t trusted in Jesus Christ as your Saviour, think on your ways. When a heart is searching for truth, God makes a way for that heart to reach Him. Jer_17:10  I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. Jer_29:13  And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Joh_5:39  Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. If you need help with this, please reach out to me and leave a comment. I would be happy to show you through the scriptures how you can be saved.

Daily Bible Verse - Psalm 119:58 | Psalm 119:58 I entreated … | Flickr

I entreated thy favour with my whole heart: be merciful unto me according to Jesus. The Treasury of David describes this verse best and I cannot add any more to it.

I intreated thy favour with my whole heart. A fully assured possession of God does not set aside prayer, but rather urges us to it; he who knows God to be his God will seek his face, longing for his presence. Seeking God’s presence is the idea conveyed by the marginal reading, “thy face,” and this is true to the Hebrew. The presence of God is the highest form of his favour, and therefore it is the most urgent desire of gracious souls: the light of his countenance gives us an antepast of heaven. O that we always enjoyed it! The good man entreated God’s smile as one who begged for his life, and the entire strength of his desire went with the entreaty. Such eager pleadings are sure of success; that which comes from our heart will certainly go to God’s heart. The whole of God’s favours are ready for those who seek them with their whole hearts.

Do we seek God’s smile in like manner? Jesus Christ, our Saviour, desires that we seek Him with the same devotion as David. David knew he was a sinner and pleaded for God’s mercy! Praise the Lord that God’s mercy is extended to all us sinners through His Son’s sacrifice on the cross! How thankful we should be that the penalty has been paid and we can enjoy God’s promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ! It is truly a gift!

Rom 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

What a gift indeed. It reminded me of the beautiful hymn, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms – the lyrics are below. Sing it and let it sink into your heart 🙂 Leaning on the Lord’s arms brings to mind a child nestled on a parent’s lap during a thunder storm. That child feels secure despite the storm.

What a fellowship, what a joy divine
Leaning on the everlasting arms
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine
Leaning on the everlasting arms

Leaning, leaning
Safe and secure from all alarms
Leaning, leaning
Leaning on the everlasting arms

What have I to dread, what have I to fear
Leaning on the everlasting arms?
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near
Leaning on the everlasting arms

Leaning, leaning
Safe and secure from all alarms
Leaning, leaning
Leaning on the everlasting arms

Thou art my portion, O Lord: I have said that I would keep Jesus! The Psalmist expresses to the Lord that He (the Lord) is all that David needs in life. David recognizes his need for God and how nothing in life is more important to him. Nothing can fill that emptiness inside man than a personal relationship with the Lord. David seems to prefer God’s word more than the riches of his life. After all, David was king at the time. Everything one dreams of was at his disposal. However, God’s word meant more to David than all these riches.

Oh that we would have this desire in our own hearts about the Lord, Jesus Christ. Do we put Jesus at the forefront of our minds every day? Should we not? Filling our minds with godly thoughts, as opposed to worldly ones, will keep our hearts focused.

Phil. 4:7-8  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

It is when we don’t keep ourselves focused that we get ourselves into trouble. The saying from a few decades ago, “What Would Jesus Do” is quite applicable here. In all we think, say and do, what would Jesus want us to do? What does His word say – not what does the world say? When we base every area of our thought lives and physical lives upon the word of God, we cannot go wrong. We will be as adamant about loving God’s word as David was in today’s verse!

Christ not only provided us with salvation but He provided us with His word so that we would have an instruction book. He did not leave us empty handed or left us to our own devices. No, Jesus knew we would need the scriptures in order to encourage ourselves and have HIS instructions for us. What a loving and merciful God He is indeed!

Joh 1:1-5  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  (2)  The same was in the beginning with God.  (3)  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.  (4)  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.  (5)  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Psalm 119:56 (KJV) This I had, because I kept thy precepts. | Bible scriptures, Psalm 119, Psalms

This I had, because I kept Jesus! With obedience comes peace. When we are walking right with the Lord Jesus, we have peace in our hearts knowing that we are keeping His commandments. The Lord made it easy for us. He explained that the Ten Commandments all stem around two:

Mat 22:37-40  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  (38)  This is the first and great commandment.  (39)  And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.  (40)  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

When Jesus is our focus in life, we can’t help but be prosperous in our spiritual life! Today’s verse reminds us to keep Jesus at the forefront of our day – walk in Him – walk in His Spirit. I would rather be at peace in my relationship with Christ than have wealth or anything else in life. There’s no price on the peace that one can have knowing that he has eternal life and a right relationship with his Saviour!

Php 4:7  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

This is especially important in today’s political climate where the evil one is doing his best to bring chaos into our lives. The child of God doesn’t need to fret or be concerned. Our main concern is to be faithful and to love the Lord with all our hearts. Peace is given to those who go forth with this mission in their hearts.

Josh 22:5  But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Everything else will seamlessly fall into place when we do so. Amen?

Psalm 119:54 | Psalms, Psalm 119, Book of psalms

Jesus has been my song in the house of my pilgrimage!!! Worshiping the Lord in our hearts every chance we get puts us in the right frame of mind, doesn’t it? Things could be going wrong in my pilgrimage (my Christian walk) but focusing on Jesus and what He has done for me always puts things into perspective! Sometimes a song pops into my mind when I do my devotions because the morning reading speaks to me. Today’s reading was no different:

Psa 28:7  The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

Blessed Assurance

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine
O what a foretaste of glory divine
Heir of salvation, purchase of God
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood

This is my story, this is my song
Praising my Savior all the day long
This is my story, this is my song
Praising my Savior all the day long

Perfect submission, all is at rest
I in my Savior am happy and blessed
Watching and waiting, looking above
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love

This is my story, this is my song
Praising my Savior all the day long
This is my story, this is my song
Praising my Savior all the day long

Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake Jesus. Can this verse be any more poignant? Today’s “climate” has nothing to do with weather but everything to do with the sinful heart of man. Everything that stands for moral goodness is being removed. I never dreamed this day would come. Abortion being claimed as a positive part of a political party’s platform! They want the killing of an unborn child to be legal up until the child comes out of the birth canal! How evil and depraved can a society get?! The liberal minded man is no different than those minds during the horrific time of Hitler. The agenda is no different!

Isa 5:20  Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

But for the Christian, this should be our wake up call to be alert for the coming of our Lord is near! Tit 2:13  Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

Be faithful, oh Christian! Don’t give up. In fact, let these disturbing times draw you closer to the Saviour. Jesus is near and the time for Him to remove us from this sinful earth can happen any time!

Mat 24:36-46  But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.  (37)  But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.  (38)  For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,  (39)  And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.  (40)  Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.  (41)  Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.  (42)  Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.  (43)  But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.  (44)  Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.  (45)  Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?  (46)  Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

Psalm 119:52 KJV – KJV Bible Verses

I remembered Jesus of old, O LORD; and have comforted myself. Jesus is the second Person in the Trinity – He is God. All things were made by Him. He came in physical form in order to save us from our sins. Without His first appearance, there is no hope for mankind to reach heaven. However, because of the Messiah’s appearance, born-again believers know they will see Him at Rapture! Praise the Lord!

John 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2  The same was in the beginning with God. 3  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

We do look for that Blessed Hope (Titus 2:13) to come and remove us from this earth! Our world is going downhill quickly. The believer has that hope and encouragement that we will see Christ soon. We comfort ourselves that the Lord is in control and that nothing happens without His knowledge. Nothing catches Him by surprise because all things are held together by Him.

Col 1:17  And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Be comforted, Christian! Know that the God of all creation is aware of every minute detail that occurs in this world. All things work according to His purpose. He cares for you more than He cares for the swallows! Trust in Him! David knew how to comfort himself in the Lord. This is a learned trait: the more you relinquish your worries and hurt to Him, the more you will trust Him!

Psalm 119:51 KJV | Psalms, Psalms quotes, Psalm 119

The proud have had me greatly in derision: yet have I not declined from Jesus. I never dreamed that I would see the day when people would mock God as much as I have seen happening today. The recent protests started out with a cause for Black Lives Matter but now there’s a twist to all of that. Protesters have distorted a good cause and turned it into lunacy. Everything good is being defaced and trashed. And everything sinful is being lifted up and supported.

Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary defines derision as:

DERISION, n.

  1. The act of laughing at in contempt.
  2. Contempt manifested by laughter; scorn.
I am in derision daily. Jer 20.
  3. An object of derision or contempt; a laughing-stock.
I was a derision to all my people. Lam 3.

Christians are being mocked in so many ways. Even the local governments are trying to destroy Christianity. California’s Gov. Newsom is bent on causing as much trouble as possible to churches in his state. However, he lost the battle to Pastor John McArthur! God is still in control, amen?

Dear reader, as Christians we will see more and more derision in the coming months. We will be made fun of and mocked. However, be prepared to stand up for Christ and be ready to share the Gospel. Most certainly we will be ridiculed, but it’s a small price to pay for the price that Christ paid for our salvation, amen?

1 Pet 3:15  But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

Psalm 119:50 (KJV) This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy ...

This is my comfort in my affliction; for Jesus hath quickened me. When we are grieving, in distress, sick or experiencing great difficulty in our lives, Jesus is always the answer. There have been many trials and tribulations in my life where I was in a pit of despair. There is no truer verse than this one.

My husband has Crohn’s disease and at the beginning of the journey, he was fading quickly. I saw a healthy man taken down by this ugly illness. He became a mere shell of a man, frail and weakened. I would sit in my rocking chair, listening to Godly music so I could stay focused, and would look out at God’s creation from my window. I prayed the words to the song “Great is Thy Faithfulness” so many times. The Lord helped me to pull through. I felt as though He was carrying me when I couldn’t go on any further!

Noah Webster defines the word “quicken” as:

  1. Made alive; revived; vivified; reinvigorated.

As I sat crying over my husband’s rapidly declining health, the Lord Jesus quickened my spirit. He revived and reinvigorated me in my faith! He gave me hope and encouragement. He let me know that I was not alone and that He was right there with me, as well as with John. My eyes were focused on Him through prayer, praising Him for His creation, and leaving my fears at His feet. I learned what David learned:

1 Sam 30:6  And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God

Granted, John was still sick and my problem was still very much real. But the Lord touched me and helped me over this despair. This is how a parent is with a child. The parent comforts that child so his fears depart; and this is what Jesus did, and still does, for me!

Thank you, Lord!
