~Revelations 21:1-8 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God [is] with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, [and be] their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. 6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

I find myself wondering what Heaven will be like, don’t you?  I dream of entering the gate made of one giant pearl and beholding that street made of gold (Revelation 21:21)!  Glory! 🙂  These are the types of things awaiting us when we enter eternity – nothing material from our lives here on earth will enter with us.

All materialism will pass away.  It is so sad to see people struggling with materialism.  They believe they will find happiness and joy in the next thing that they buy or the next relationship that they have.  They are looking for fulfillment in “the purchase of the moment” or their next fling.  There is nothing that you can buy nor is there a person that you can love that will bring permanent joy.  One may think so but it’s simply an illusion from the god of this world. (2 Corinthians 4:4)

The only thing that will bring lasting joy is a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.  John 3:16 shows us just what God did to extend the gift of eternal life to us.  The Scriptures outline what we must do to receive that gift.

~Psalm 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence [is] fulness of joy; at thy right hand [there are] pleasures for evermore.

We can have fullness of joy in His presence if we are saved.  Psalm 16:11 says that we are His child and we will be in His presence forever!  One of the titles for Jesus is Emmanuel, which means “God with us” – Christ is just that – always with us.

~Hebrews 13:5 [Let your] conversation [be] without covetousness; [and be] content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Our Emmanuel, the Lord Jesus, is right there with us – Christ is all we need in life.  Notice the above text says to be content with what we have.  The Lord will take care of anything that we need.  We should not be busying ourselves with things that we want as that is covetousness. We should, however, be fervent in developing and maintaining our spiritual lives.  Not only is Christ all we need in this life but He is the only One who can provide entrance to Heaven.

We can’t look to the world to meet our spiritual needs.  Only God can do that.  God should be sufficient for us. Look at the account of the rich man and Lazarus in:

~Luke 16:19-31 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that [would come] from thence. 27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: 28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. 31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

The rich man had everything he wanted while he lived on this earth except one thing: he did not develop a relationship with God (he did not get saved) and the time of reckoning arrived.  He was judged, found wanting (Daniel 5:27) and his sentence was Hell.  Hell was not a big party (as some like to brag) with his friends.  The rich man was in torment (verse 28)!

Lazarus, however, had nothing on this earth but he did have was his faith.  Lazarus’ torment was right here on earth but his reward was going to last for all eternity! I love that verse 22 says that Lazarus was seen by the rich man in Abraham’s bosom!  What a tender and wonderful place to be, isn’t it?  It’s as though Lazarus was receiving a “welcome home” hug 🙂

All of the rich man’s power, influence and money couldn’t get him out of Hell!  He was stuck there for all eternity!  He was so distraught about this that he wanted Abraham to send Lazarus to warn his family about this place of torments. (Verses 27-31)  Don’t you find it interesting that Lazarus wanted something from the rich man on earth but now the rich man wanted something from him?  The tables turned indeed.

Sadly, what the rich man had on earth was the best he could/the best would ever get! There is a pay day coming for the unbeliever (Daniel 5:27) but John 14:2-3 is what awaits the believer – a special and prepared place for a special and prepared person. Our rewards for the difficulties and trials of this life will last through eternity – that’s never ending, folks! Our eyes need to stay focused on the goal – on the prize (1 Corinthians 9:24,  Philippians 3:14)

What will you put your faith in?  If this life is “as good as it gets,” that’s pretty discouraging!  But for the believer, our soul is anchored on Christ, (Hebrews 6:19) not the zodiac, not someone’s dream, etc.  Our High Priest, the Lord Jesus Christ, has provided us with the ability to fellowship with the Father and to obtain Heaven because of His (Jesus’) righteousness.  Psalm 17:15 says we will behold His face. The curses of this life will be removed (Revelation 21:4-5).  No tears, no death, no sorrow, no crying, no pain!

All things will be made new!  It will be like Paradise – perfect!  It’s going to get so much better for the believer! Be encouraged! 🙂

What a Day That Will Be
Jim Hill

There is coming a day,
When no heart aches shall come,
No more clouds in the sky,
No more tears to dim the eye,
All is peace forever more,
On that happy golden shore,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

What a day that will be,
When my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand,
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

There’ll be no sorrow there,
No more burdens to bear,
No more sickness, no pain,
No more parting over there;
And forever I will be,
With the One who died for me,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

What a day that will be,
When my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand,
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be

Psalm 119:89-96

LAMED
89 For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.
90 Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.
91 They continue this day according to thine ordinances: for all are thy servants.
92 Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction.
93 I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me.
94 I am thine, save me; for I have sought thy precepts.
95 The wicked have waited for me to destroy me: but I will consider thy testimonies.
96 I have seen an end of all perfection: but thy commandment is exceeding broad.

Journaling:

1. Find all the things the Bible will do for you
2. Find the things you are suppose to do with your Bible
3. Find the things the Bible is likened to

The Psalmist opens this next section of Psalm 119 with an emphatic verse.  He has complete and unshakable confidence in his statement.  Along with Psalm 12:6-7, these verses support the fact that God can and did preserve His word throughout the ages!

God does not preserve His word for a period of time; nor is His word preserved through the capability of man or his intelligence! God’s word is settled in heaven (Psalm 119:89).  I see several things, just in this one verse:

  1. Who:  Whose word is referenced in Psalm 119:89?  Thy word – God’s word, not man’s.  The Devil’s desire is to corrupt the word of God for several reasons: to remove the deity of Jesus Christ and, therefore, so man cannot find salvation, and so he (the Devil) can take God’s place.  The only time Lucifer is mentioned in the Bible is in Isaiah 14:12.  But don’t go finding his name in the NIV, NASB, ESV, etc.  It can only be found in the King James Bible!  Why?  Because the Devil, Lucifer, does not want man kind knowing the truth about him or about Jesus Christ, the Saviour.  If the Devil can place doubt in man’s mind about the inspired and preserved word of God, he has succeeded already.  He removed his name from Isaiah 14:12 and replaced it with “morning star,” which is a name for Jesus Christ (Revelation 22:16).  Ask yourself, Christian, “Who stands to gain from changing God’s word?” Satan stands to gain – and he has succeed in producing over 200 different versions of the Bible.  Is it any wonder the world is falling apart at the seams?!  Is it any wonder that the world doesn’t think God’s word exists today?
  2. What:  What is spoken of in this verse?  God’s word is what is settled.  God’s word is what shows man his sin.  God’s word is what leads man to salvation. God’s word speaks about His Blessed Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.  Psalm 12:6-8 give us a clearer picture about the purity and eternality of God’s word and what happens to the “scholars” who change His word:(6) The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. (7) Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. (8) The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted. God’s word is perfect. He has promised to preserve those words for us for ever!  It’s settled! The men who are responsible for the corrupt translations have done a horrible act. They have followed their father, the Devil, and have taken down many souls with them. Oh the price they will pay throughout eternity for changing God’s word! It is a frightening thing to be in the hands of an angry God: ~Revelation 22:18-19 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.  No author on earth would appreciate someone else changing their writing.  In fact, there are laws against it and it is called plagiarism!
  3. Where:  Where is God’s word settled?  Heaven!  Heaven is the perfect dwelling place.  No sin can enter Heaven.  No corruption can enter Heaven. God’s plans for mankind were spoken, written and settled – PERIOD.  Once a court of law in our land reaches a settlement in a trial, it cannot be changed.  It is final! This is what the word means.  It’s not rocket science and even a child can understand it.
  4. When: How long is God’s word settled? FOR EVER! It will not change – it cannot be changed. The Devil has changed it through the years by using his minions. However, God’s word is settled forever and we know Who will win in the end! Ignorant man, despite his knowledge and Ph.D.’s, has been the puppet of the all-time Deceiver, the Father of Lies, Satan! But the Victor is Jesus Christ, Lord of Lords and King of Kings! He preserved His words for us through the uncorrupted King James Bible. We do have God’s word in the English language. All others are heretical attempts to discredit the blood of Christ, His virgin birth, His deity, and His triumpant return!
  5. For How Long: Psalm 119:90-91 give us an answer!  God is faithful – His word is faithful – His promises are for ever!  The faithfulness of His word continues to ALL generations (verse 90) and they continue according to His word!

God’s word existed before the creation of all things. His word spoke everything into existence. His word is as much with us today as much as it was with people living before, during and after Christ!  How strange it is that people can believe that God created all things in the universe yet He is not able to keep His word from corruption!  You limit God by saying such things!  God’s abilities are limitless and powerful – just read and enjoy the following verses:

Deuteronomy 3:24,
Deuteronomy 9:3,
II Samuel 22:32-34,
I Chronicles 29:12,
Psalm 18:1-2,
Psalm 62:7-8,
Psalm 68:35,
Luke 1:37,
Isaiah 40:28-31,
Job 9:4,
Jeremiah 5:22,
Jude 1:25.

It’s settled, my friend. God has settled it!

~John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Only the Son, Jesus Christ, can set us free what the bondage of sin! Only the Son, Jesus Christ, can set us free from eternal damnation in hell. Only the Son, Jesus Christ, has paid the price for our penalty of sin! No one else! There are not many roads to Heaven, my friend. The Word says that Christ is the only way.

~Acts 4:10-12 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

There is no salvation in Buddah, none in Allah, none in good works, and none in being a member of any particular church! There is not other way to Heaven but by Jesus Christ. One cannot save himself by doing good works. Your good deeds will NEVER outweigh your sin on justice’s scales? Why? Because even ONE sin will keep you from entering Heaven.

~Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.

Death, both spiritual and physical, come to us because of one sin. We ALL have sinned, therefore, we all will go to Hell unless we are born again (John 3:3). It is only Jesus Christ’s blood that cleanses us from sin at the time of salvation – not Buddah’s, not Allah’s, not your own good deeds.

~1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Do not be deceived! Do not let man carry you away with their words. Use the brain that God has given to you and search His Word and learn the truth about salvation!

~John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Joh 8:32  And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

~2 Kings 2:11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

Elijah’s exit from earth and entrance to Heaven must have been spectacular! To think that one could be carried away in a horse-pulled chariot that were so bright they appeared as though they were on fire! I would have loved to witness that for myself!

The Word records a similar episode.

~Luke 24:51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.

Again, I would have loved to be with those who witnessed this blessed event.

Some Christians will be able to experience a similar event at the Rapture of the Saints!

~1 Corinthians 15:51-53 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

~1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Praise the Lord that the believer can live in the midst of the turmoil but yet have peace because he knows the time is near, even at the door!

My heart is longing for a country I’ve never seen!
With rolling hills, beautiful valleys and fields of green.
Glorious sunrises and sunsets are painted on the horizon,
By the Hand of a Saviour who loves His creation!

Fix your eyes upward and long for that day.
Do not be distracted by this world on your way.
To a country where a rainbow lies behind a Great Throne
Be encouraged as you walk toward your Heavenly Home.
