~Romans 1:22, 24-32 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
During Jesus’ ministry, He preached in the Temple to the Jews using the Scriptures (Old Testament). He told His disciples that they would do greater things during their ministry – they would be spreading the precious Gospel. Once the New Testament was finally completed, the two Testaments made God’s complete Word for man. All of it is inspired and all of it is God breathed.
~2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Today’s text is clear about this sin. Even without using the Scriptures from the Old Testament, it is clear that homosexuality is condemned – even though the words were spoken by Paul. Paul’s words were breathed by the Holy Spirit and Paul was inspired by the Holy Spirit and told what to write. We know that Jesus is part of the Triune Godhead. He is one in the three in one (I John 5:7). With that said, the Holy Spirit is also one of this three in one – He is the part of the Godhead that put God’s words into what we call the Bible.
~2 Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
What the Holy Spirit writes through Paul are the Holy Spirit’s words just as much as the words that Christ spoke. What the Holy Spirit writes in the Law of Moses are His words – God’s Words – just as much as Jesus’ own words. The three are one God! Why then should God’s words contradict itself? They don’t! God considers His words above even His own name!
~Psalm 138:2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
When I was witnessing to a homosexual, one of her excuses to continue in her sin was that Christ Himself did not say that being gay was sin. The sodomites in the Old Testament were stoned to death because of their sin. Christ believed, lived by, upheld and preached from the Law of Moses. He was qualified and even called Rabbi as He was preaching to the Jews. Just because the New Testament does not have Jesus quoted as exactly saying, “Sodomy/Homosexuality is sin” does not mean He did not speak of it. There are so many things that Jesus said that could not possibly be recorded because the book would be huge!
~John 21:25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
What we do have is a clear record of Jesus supporting what was written in the Law of Moses. Jesus would be a hypocrite if He supported only part of that same Law! So let’s look at what Jesus did support. Jesus said:
~Mat 19:4-6 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
This shows that Jesus supported the institution of marriage between a man and a woman. Genesis states that God made male and female, not male and male. This has been God’s way since the beginning and this is the sexuality that was instituted. Jesus was born Jewish and lived under the Law of Moses (see ~Galatians 4:4). Since Jesus endorsed and taught the Law of Moses in the temples, it stands to reason that Jesus would condemn the same things that are condemned in the Law of Moses, including homosexuality.
Furthermore, Jesus supports that whatever God has joined together (man and woman), let NO man put asunder – that being the institution of marriage between a man and a woman! According to Genesis 1:27, the union of male and female is a clear depiction of God’s design for human sexuality. Even God’s creation is comprised of a male and female species. There is no regenerating of a species otherwise. Jesus spoke of monogamous female/male marriage relationships – He spoke of the sins of adultery, fornication, promiscuity, etc. All of His sayings revolved around a male/female relationship. Jesus’ knowledge of the Law of Moses was complete for it was His word! Jesus Christ, God Himself, does not change. The Word says:
Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
Therefore, His words from the beginning hold true today. What was considered an abomination, like sodomy, is still an abomination! Do not be deceived. Oh and, by the way, my homosexual friend was gloriously saved and changed by the power of the Holy Spirit in her life. Today, she is married to a wonderful man and has four beautiful children. This, too, can happen to you!
Repent today and be saved!
