~Proverbs 16:24 Pleasant words [are as] an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
How wonderful to have a friend who always knows what to say and when to say it! To lift up the weariest soul with encouraging words is a gift. This gift doesn’t come naturally – I have found that it must be learned. Genuine words are effective and they touch the very depths of a hurting heart. However, fake and insincere words are heard but for a moment. Today’s text teaches us that pleasant words bring health – they bring healing to the mourning soul – They bring healing to the wayward soul – They bring healing to the soul with chronic pain. These words have healing as their “end result,” not momentary pleasantries and flattery.
