Start the New Year

What better way to end an old year and start a new one by accepting the gift of eternal life given to us by God Himself through His Son, Jesus Christ!

~Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

~Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

~Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

~John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

~John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

~Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

~Luke 13:5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

~Acts 16:31a And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved,

~Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

So don’t let 2010 come and go just like 2009 did. Let God give you the gift of life through His Son. There is no other way.

Act 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

One never knows the hour or moment when death will be faced. Enjoy this little cartoon booklet – it sums it all up! Happy New Year! And if you have accepted Christ today, Happy New Life!

Understanding

~Psalm 147:5 Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.

This same Creator … this same Shepherd … this same God who created us and loves us has great power! This same God who can move mountains can move the weight of mountains from your shoulders! Are you burdened with the cares of life? Are you struggling with cancer or a chronic illness today? Are you in the middle of a rough marriage? God understands. God knows exactly what you are going through and is waiting to help you.

Sometimes He helps without us even asking. He knows how much we can take and He never gives us more than we can handle. That is why He sends blessings our way to give us reprieve from our burden.

Turn to Him today … He’s waiting to lead you to the still waters so you can rest and drink. Let Him do the guarding … let Him do the fighting … let Him do the problem solving! Enjoy His peaceful rest.

~Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Merry Christmas

~Luke 2:1-17 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

Mary Did You Know

Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you’ve delivered, will soon deliver you.

Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby, you have kissed the face of God.

The blind will see, the deaf will hear and the dead will live again.
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak, the praises of the lamb.

Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven’s perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you’re holding is the great I am.

~John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Be Not Afraid!

~Matthew 17:7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.

Have you been touched by Christ? Don’t just automatically answer “yes” to my question. Reach deep down in your heart of hearts and answer truthfully … just between you and God.

Anyone you talk to who has ever received an absolutely wonderful Christmas gift can tell you who gave it to them, what Christmas the gift was given, and exactly how they felt when they opened it. Correct? The same is true with the gift of salvation. One knows when they receive this gift and when they received it. Everyone goes through the salvation experience differently, but everyone knows the gift they have been given.

The Father loved us so much that He gave us a Gift through His Son, Jesus Christ. The beautiful gift of salvation began in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve first sinned. The gift arrived when Christ was born. The gift was fulfilled when He arose from the dead. And, finally, the Gift awaits us when we reach Heaven. Our faith will be made sight and we will be with Him for all eternity.

So, my friend, have you been touched by Jesus? If you have, then arise and be not afraid! We do not know what our future on earth holds – whether our country will survive the birth pangs of the end times – whether the Rapture will happen today or in 20 years. But one thing we know for certain – Christ touched us and we need not be afraid!

Stand out amongst the lost and rejoice! Give Christ the sacrifice of a thankful heart this Christmas. Let everyone you know hear you rejoice in the God of your salvation! Praise be to God in the highest!!!!

The Geese

There was once a man who didn’t believe in the incarnation or the spiritual meaning of Christmas, and was skeptical about God. He and his family lived in a farm community. His wife was a devout believer and diligently raised her children in her faith. He sometimes gave her a hard time about her faith and mocked her religious observance of Christmas.

One snowy Christmas eve she was taking the kids to the Christmas eve service at church. She pleaded with him to come, but he firmly refused. He ridiculed the idea of the incarnation of Christ and dismissed it as nonsense. “Why would God lower himself and become a human like us?! It’s such a ridiculous story!” he said. So she and the children left for church while he stayed home.

After they left, the winds grew stronger and the snow turned into a blizzard. As he looked out the window, all he saw was a blinding snowstorm. He sat down to relax before the fire for the evening. Then he heard a loud thump, something hitting against the window. And another thump. He looked outside but couldn’t see. So he ventured outside to see. In the field near his house he saw, of all the strangest things, a flock of geese! They were apparently flying to look for a warmer area down south, but got caught in the snow storm. The snow had became too blinding and violent for the geese to fly or see their way. They were lost and stranded on his farm, with no food or shelter. They just fluttered their wings and flew around in circles around the field blindly and aimlessly. He had compassion for them and wanted to help them. He thought to himself, “The barn would be a great place for them to stay! It’s warm and safe; surely they could spend the night and wait out the storm.”

So he walked over to the barn and opened the barn doors for them. He waited, watching them, hoping they would notice the open barn and go inside. But they just fluttered around aimlessly and didn’t notice the barn or realize what it could mean for them. He moved closer toward them to get their attention, but they just moved away from him out of fear. He went into the house and came back out with some bread, broke it up, and made a bread trail leading to the barn. They still didn’t catch on.

Starting to get frustrated, he went over and tried to shoo them, run after them, and chase them toward the barn. They only got scared and scattered into every direction except toward the barn. Nothing he did could get them to go into the barn where there was warmth, safety, and shelter. Feeling totally frustrated, he exclaimed, “Why don’t they follow me! Can’t they see this is the only place where they can survive the storm! How can I possibly get them into the one place to save them!” He thought for a moment and realized that they just won’t follow a human. He said to himself, “How can I possibly save them? The only way would be for me to become like those geese. If only I could become like one of them! Then I could save them! They would follow me and I would lead them to safety.”

He stood silently for a moment as the words that he just said reverberated back to himself in his mind: “If only I could become like one of them –then I could save them.” He thought about his words, and remembered what he said to his wife: “Why would God want to be like us? That’s so ridiculous!”

Something clicked in his mind as he put these two together. It was like a revelation, and he began to understand the incarnation. We were like the geese– blind, gone astray, perishing. God became like us so He could show us the way and make a way available to save us. That is the meaning of Christmas, he realized in his heart.

As the winds and blinding snow abated, his heart became quiet and pondered this thought. He understood what Christmas was all about. He knew why Christ had come. Suddenly years of doubt and disbelief were shattered, as he humbly and tearfully bowed down in the snow, and embraced the true meaning of Christmas.

Sanctification

Snow

~1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

Peter exhorts us to sanctify the Lord God in our hearts. But how do we actually do that? Noah Webster defines the word sanctify as:

To cleanse from corruption; to purify from sin; to make holy by detaching the affections from the world and its defilements, and exalting them to a supreme love to God.

We are to totally cleans ourselves from corruption – totally purify ourselves from sin – totally detaching ourselves from the affections from this world and its defilements and lifting them before God so He can create in us a holy heart. Wow … can you imagine just what God could do through us if we were to set ourselves apart in this manner?

What a wonderful Christmas gift to the Lord Jesus Christ this would be if we were to take this verse with all seriousness of heart! Then we could truly tell others about this hope that Christ has given to us through His precious blood shed on the cross so we may gain eternal life with Him in Heaven!

Celebrate this Christmas by giving Christ the one thing He truly desires … our sanctified hearts!

Peace

101_0207

~John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

This time of year is where people hear about “peace” the most. But what kind of peace does this world have to offer? It comes disguised in materialism. However, “things” bring only temporary happiness. There is no permanent joy in “things.” They do not bring peace at all. In fact, the more stuff we have, the more we have to worry about. Isn’t it a conundrum?

Our precious Saviour is the only one who can truly give this peace and joy – and His comes with a guarantee of eternal life! What blessings! One can be in the middle of a spiritual battle, a physical ailment, or an emotional struggle – but yet, peace surrounds them like a warm blanket! Christ knows what we are going through every step of the way. As we ache when our children are hurting, so does He. He is always waiting to comfort us!

Let Christ work in your heart this Christmas season. There’s no reason to be caught up in worry and stress. Reach out to Him for the peace which is beyond your comprehension!!

~Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Trust

~Psalm 28:7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

There are days when I feel like I just can’t go on. No matter what I do or how I handle a situation, there are road blocks and closed doors. I’m thankful that I can run to my Father and seek His help and guidance. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that He will help me. He may not solve my problem but He gives me strength to go through my trial. He also gives me sweet peace in the midst of turmoil.

Thank You, Lord!!!

Burdened?

~Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

It seems at times that our lives are filled with burdens and cares. It’s as though there is no relief in sight.  But there is relief in sight for the believer! Our Heavenly Father has given us the gift of His Son who has promised rest to those that come to Him.

There is no better place for the Christian to be than at rest from life’s burdens!  Despite the tumultuous seas about us, we are promised that our hearts can be at peace!  This speaks volumes to a world that has no such peace!

Thank You, Lord!
