Why is the Bible So Important?

~1 Kings 17:24 And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth.

What does the catholic church do with its former popes who did not abide in truth?

~Psalm 33:4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.

If God’s Word is right and all His works are done in truth, there would be no additions or need for change as the catholic church has done with its dogmas, traditions and magisterium.

~Psa 138:2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

If God magnifies His word even above His name, why would He allow anything to come ahead or equal to His word?

~John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

It is Jesus and His Gospel that is Truth. He would not change it, add to it or take away from it because it would no longer be truth!

~John 17:17) Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

It is not traditions or magisterium that are truth but God’s Holy Word is Truth!

~2 Corinthians 4:2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.

Allowing traditions and magisterium to be equal to Scripture is handling the word of God deceitfully. The previous verse says that God’s word is truth – nothing else.

~Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

and

~Col 1:5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;

and

~1 Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

Is it any wonder that the catholic church adds tradition and magisterium to be equal to the Word of God? It is because they do not want the dear catholic to find true salvation. Salvation outside the Word of God is not the truth!

~2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Is it any wonder that the catholic church fills its members heads full of catholic history so their minds are pre-occupied with catholic history instead of Bible?

I pray these verses will speak to the heart of a dear catholic today!

When did Sacred Tradition Become Equal to the Bible?

The Council of Trent, (AD 1545-63) placed “Sacred Tradition” equal to God’s Holy Word. Does this not cause you to wonder why it took 1,500 years for this to become dogma? What did the catholic believe prior to that? They believed that God’s Holy Word was final authority. All these years, the poor catholic has believed that the catholic church has had this “dogma” ever since Christ arose into Heaven. However, far is it from the truth. The catholic church states:

Hence there exist a close connection and communication between sacred tradition and sacred Scripture. For both of them, flowing from the same divine wellspring, in a certain way merge into a unity and tend toward the same end. For sacred Scripture is the word of God inasmuch as it is consigned to writing under the inspiration of the divine Spirit. To the successors of the apostles, sacred tradition hands on in its full purity God’s word, which was entrusted to the apostles by Christ the Lord and the Holy Spirit. . . . Consequently, it is not from sacred Scripture alone that the Church draws her certainty about everything which has been revealed. Therefore both sacred tradition and sacred Scripture are to be accepted and venerated with the same sense of devotion and reverence. Sacred tradition and sacred Scripture form one sacred deposit of the word of God, which is committed to the Church. . . She [the Church] has always regarded the Scriptures together with sacred tradition as the supreme rule of faith, and will ever do so. Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation” (Dei Verbum), Documents of Vatican II, par.9, 10, 21, p. 117, 125

Jesus said,

But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. ~ Matthew 15:9
Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. ~Mark 7:7

The catholic church admits that it was founded around the year 300. The average catholic doesn’t even know what year it came about. The website catholic.com says the catholic church was established around the year 107 and americancatholictruthsociety.com says around 397. However, historical fact says that for the first four centuries, the catholic church did not exist. The early church age believers did not believe in a purgatory or indulgences, neither did they have a of a pope. They had never heard of transubstantiation or mariology! These dogmas were attached to the true Gospel hundreds of years later by the roman catholic church.

The early church’s Gospel was left to the Apostles by our Lord and was considered complete. The Rock, Jesus, and the foundation of His Gospel were the Gospel His followers preached (see Matthew 24:14, 26:13, and Mark 14:9). The catholic dogmas made by men centuries later were not even a part of the original Gospel of Jesus Christ. The early believers werre confident that when they died they went to be with Christ. So much so, Paul mentioned it twice:

Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
~2 Corinthians 5:6

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. ~2 Corinthians 5:8

I doubt very much that if there had been purgatory, Paul would be so willing to be absent from the body if he knew he were going to a place of burning and judgment.

If you are a catholic reading this today, ask yourself why the Scriptures vary from the catholic church’s traditions. If they are suppose to agree together, how come there are so many contradictions between the Bible and the traditions of your church? When there are disagreements between the two, which one is to be obeyed? God or man? Does this not bother you? It should bother you! God wants it to bother you so that you will research it for yourself instead of allowing man and the catholic church to rule your heart. Rather, let God rule your heart and you will never go wrong!

Obama had greater role on liberal survey

During his first run for elected office, Barack Obama played a greater role than his aides now acknowledge in crafting liberal stands on gun control, the death penalty and abortion — positions that appear at odds with the more moderate image he has projected during his presidential campaign.

The evidence comes from an amended version of an Illinois voter group’s detailed questionnaire, filed under his name during his 1996 bid for a state Senate seat.

Late last year, in response to a Politico story about Obama’s answers to the original questionnaire, his aides said he “never saw or approved” the questionnaire.

They asserted the responses were filled out by a campaign aide who “unintentionally mischaracterize[d] his position.”

But a Politico examination determined that Obama was actually interviewed about the issues on the questionnaire by the liberal Chicago nonprofit group that issued it. And it found that Obama — the day after sitting for the interview — filed an amended version of the questionnaire, which appears to contain Obama’s own handwritten notes added to one answer.

The two questionnaires, provided to Politico with assistance from political sources opposed to Obama’s presidential campaign, were later supplied directly by the group, Independent Voters of Illinois — Independent Precinct Organization.

Obama and his then-campaign manager, who Obama’s campaign asserts filled out the questionnaires, were familiar with the group, its members and its positions, since both were active in it before Obama’s 1996 state Senate run.

Through an aide, Obama, who won the group’s endorsement as well as the statehouse seat, did not dispute that the handwriting was his. But he contended it doesn’t prove he completed, approved — or even read — the latter questionnaire.

“Sen. Obama didn’t fill out these state Senate questionnaires — a staffer did — and there are several answers that didn’t reflect his views then or now,” Tommy Vietor, a spokesman for Obama’s campaign, said in an e-mailed statement. “He may have jotted some notes on the front page of the questionnaire at the meeting, but that doesn’t change the fact that some answers didn’t reflect his views. His 11 years in public office do.”

But the questionnaires provide fodder to question Obama’s ideological consistency and electability. Those questions are central to efforts by Obama’s presidential rival Hillary Clinton to woo the superdelegates whose votes represent her best chance to wrest the Democratic nomination from Obama.

Taken together — and combined with later policy pronouncements — the two 1996 questionnaires paint a picture of an inexperienced Obama still trying to feel his way around major political issues and less constrained by the nuance that now frames his positions on sensitive issues.

Consider the question of whether minors should be required to get parental consent — or at least notify their parents — before having abortion.

The first version of Obama’s questionnaire responds with a simple “No.”

The amended version, though, answers less stridently: “Depends on how young — possibly for extremely young teens, i.e., 12- or 13-year-olds.”

By 2004, when his campaign filled out a similar questionnaire for the IVI-IPO during his campaign for U.S. Senate, the answer to a similar question contained still more nuance, but also more precision. “I would oppose any legislation that does not include a bypass provision for minors who have been victims of, or have reason to fear, physical or sexual abuse,” he wrote.

The evolution continued at least through late last year, when his campaign filled out a questionnaire for a nonpartisan reproductive health group that answered a similar question with even more nuance.

“As a parent, Obama believes that young women, if they become pregnant, should talk to their parents before considering an abortion. But he realizes not all girls can turn to their mother or father in times of trouble, and in those instances, we should want these girls to seek the advice of trusted adults — an aunt, a grandmother, a pastor,” his campaign wrote to RH Reality Check.

“Unfortunately, instead of encouraging pregnant teens to seek the advice of adults, most parental consent bills that come before Congress or state legislatures criminalize adults who attempt to help a young woman in need and lack judicial bypass and other provisions that would permit exceptions in compelling cases.”

Both versions of the 1996 questionnaires provide answers his presidential campaign disavows to questions about whether Obama supports capital punishment and state legislation to “ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns.”

He responded simply “No” and “Yes,” respectively, to those questions on both questionnaires.

But a fact sheet provided by his campaign flatly denies Obama ever held those views, asserting he “consistently supported the death penalty for certain crimes but backed a moratorium until problems were fixed.” And it points out that as a state senator, he led an effort to reform Illinois’ death penalty laws.

On guns, the fact sheet says he “has consistently supported common-sense gun control, as well as the rights of law-abiding gun owners.”

After Politico’s story on the first questionnaire, Clinton aides seized on the handgun-ban answer in particular, which a campaign press release asserted called into question Obama’s electability.

That was a curious argument to make in a Democratic primary. But Republicans will certainly seek to make it in the general election if Obama is the Democratic standard-bearer against the presumptive GOP nominee, Arizona Sen. John McCain.

It could also provide ammunition for a line of attack quietly peddled for some time by Republicans. They allege Obama has a penchant for blaming his staff for gaffes ranging from missing a union event in New Hampshire to circulating opposition research highlighting the Clintons’ ties to India and Indian-Americans to underestimating the amount of cash bundled for his campaigns by his former fundraiser, indicted businessman Antoin “Tony” Rezko.

And the questionnaires play into storylines pushed by both Republicans and Clinton suggesting Obama has altered his views to appeal to differing audiences.

That suggestion is galling to many members of IVI-IPO, some of whom have relationships with Obama that date back nearly 15 years. The group had endorsed Obama in every race he’d run — including his failed long-shot 2000 primary challenge to U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Ill.) — until now.

The group’s 37-member board of directors, meeting last year soon after Obama distanced himself from the first questionnaire, stalemated in its vote over an endorsement in the Democratic presidential primary. Forty percent supported Obama, 40 percent sided with Clinton and 20 percent voted for other candidates or not to endorse.

“One big issue was: Does he or does he not believe the stuff he told us in 1996?” said Aviva Patt, who has been involved with the IVI-IPO since 1990 and is now the group’s treasurer. She volunteered for Obama’s 2004 Senate campaign, but voted to endorse the since-aborted presidential campaign of Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich (D-Ohio) and professed disappointment over Obama’s retreat from ownership of the questionnaire.

“I always believed those to be his views,” she said, adding some members of the board argued that Obama’s 1996 answers were “what he really believes in, and he’s tailoring it now to make himself more palatable as a nationwide candidate.”

But the questionnaires provide fodder to question BarackObama’s ideological consistency and electability.

It’s more benign than that, contended fellow board member Lois Dobry, who voted to endorse Obama last year and hosted the 1996 interview session at her home.

That “was a long time ago,” she said. “And anybody who hasn’t refined their ideas over that period of time … is not anybody I’m interested in,” she said. Dobry asserted Obama’s views have evolved mostly at the margins and that he’s still the same person she met in the 1990s.

“He always was right from the start very, very clear on where he was coming from on most issues,” she said, “and he certainly wasn’t letting anybody else decide that for him.”

Dobry, Patt and current IVI-IPO state chairman David K. Igasaki, a Clinton supporter, agreed Obama likely didn’t write every word of his campaign’s 1996 answers. But they all dismissed as unbelievable his presidential campaign’s assertion that Obama never saw or signed off on the state Senate questionnaires.

Campaigns are routinely bombarded with all manner of questionnaires from advocacy groups of every stripe, so it’s not uncommon to have staffers fill them out in candidates’ names. But usually there’s some process by which the answers are vetted to insure consistency with the candidates’ views.

And there were plenty of reasons to believe that occurred in the case of Obama’s 1996 IVI-IPO questionnaire.

The group was very influential in Obama’s South Side district. It also was a leader on government reform issues, which Obama has made a centerpiece of his political persona.

He and his campaign manager, Carol Harwell, were both active with the IVI-IPO prior to his candidacy, and they had once helped interview candidates seeking the group’s endorsement, according to Igasaki.

Dobry called Harwell “an extremely experienced person, also someone highly familiar with IVI. And she would know perfectly well that the candidate would have to answer questions based on these answers and to suddenly have the candidate discover that somebody else had written answers that they were in no way in agreement with would be pretty embarrassing, right?”

Harwell, a veteran Democratic operative who got her start working for the late Chicago Mayor Harold Washington in the 1980s and who now works for Cook County Clerk David Orr, last year told Politico she filled out the first questionnaire.

But she did not return several telephone messages asking about the second questionnaire and the handwritten notes on it.

They appear under a question asking candidates to “list all endorsements you have received so far.” In typed text that matches that of the rest of the answers, both of Obama’s questionnaires list four local Democratic organizations and two aldermen. But the latter questionnaire adds to that with handwritten notes listing another 10 endorsements, including an Illinois seniors group, AFSCME, AFL-CIO, Sierra Club, IBEW and unions representing nurses and firefighters.

Igasaki said Obama was shoo-in for the IVI-IPO endorsement, but that it was important to have a strong showing because “our chapter basically was his field operation. … Those people were already working for him, and it was important for him to identify with us.”

Patt, though, conceded the inevitability of the group’s endorsement could have led Harwell to be “less than 100 percent careful” in filling out the questionnaire, “because it probably didn’t matter that much at the time. It’s only in the context that it’s now found that has much greater importance than anyone could have imagined it would back in 1996.”

Racists again endorse Obama on candidate’s website

New Black Panther Party condemns ‘white men,’ ‘Jews,’ praises Barack

An anti-white and virulently anti-Semitic black supremacist party has once again endorsed Sen. Barack Obama on the presidential candidate’s own website, WND has learned.

Following criticism earlier this month of an online endorsement from the New Black Panther Party, or NBPP, Obama’s campaign removed the controversial organization from the presidential candidate’s official website. The NBPP had been a registered team member and blogger on Obama’s “MyObama” campaign site.

But the NBPP endorsement was reposted on Obama’s official website today.

“Obama is capable of stirring the ‘melting pot’ into a better ‘molten America,’” states the NBPP endorsement posted on Obama’s site.

The NBPP is a controversial black extremist party whose leaders are notorious for their racist statements and for leading anti-white activism.

Malik Zulu Shabazz, NBPP national chairman, who has given scores of speeches condemning “white men” and Jews, confirmed his organization’s endorsement of Obama in a recent interview with WND.

“I think the way Obama responded to the attack on him and the attempt to sabotage his campaign shows true leadership and character. He had a chance to denounce his pastor and he didn’t fall for the bait. He stood up and addressed real issues of racial discord,” stated Shabazz.

Mini-Manna for Little Lambs – Day 19 – How to Act in Church

Coloring/Teaching

Let’s color the picture of God and the earth! Do you see the heart? Do you think God loves you? Yes, God loves you! When you go to church, do you think God wants you to sit still and listen?

How to Act in Church
(sung to On Top of Old Smokie)

I want to show Jesus, how much I love Him
I sit still in church, and pay attention

I whisper to Mommy, if I need to speak
I listen to Daddy, every day of the week.

For God loves obedience, better than sacrifice
So I will be quiet, God’s Word says that’s wise.

Bible Time

(Psa 46:10a) Be still, and know that I am God:

Story

Mary did not like to go to church because she did not like to sit still for almost an hour. So when Daddy said it was time go to church, Mary began to cry. Daddy picked her up and asked, “Mary, don’t you want to hear God speaking today?”

Mary’s eyes got big and she said, “God will talk to us today instead of Pastor?”

Daddy laughed and replied, “No, Mary, God won’t be the standing at the pulpit. Pastor will still be there. But God will speak to Pastor’s heart and God will cause Pastor to say things that He wants us to hear. Don’t you want to hear God speak to you?”

Mary nodded. She did not know that God would speak to her. Do you know that God does speak to us each time we are in church or read our Bibles? (nod your head yes) When we sit still and listen very carefully (cup your hand behind your ear as though you are listening), we will hear something that God wants us to hear. If you disobey and you don’t sit still, you will miss what God has to say. (frown and shake your head no)

God says that to obey is better than sacrifice. When Mommy and Daddy tell you to sit still and you obey them, this makes God AND your Mommy and Daddy VERY happy! (smile and clap your hands) When you obey Mommy and Daddy , you are also obeying God. Our verse says “Be still, and know that I am God:” God wants you to sit still so that you can hear what He has to say to you while your Pastor is preaching.

Dear God…
Help me to sit still in church and to whisper if I must say something to Mommy or Daddy. Amen!

Names of Jesus – Day 8 – The Amen

I can remember my mother telling me when I was growing up, “Just wait until your father gets home! He will have the final word in this matter.” My Dad was the head of our household and when he said something, that was it! :-)

This title for Christ as the Amen, is quite appropriate. I can see Him having the final word in all matters! He is the Creator of all things in the beginning of time and, therefore, it is appropriate that He is known as the Amen.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. ~John 1:1-3

It is also appropriate that our Creator would have the say so as it relates to our lives, how we live our lives and what we do with His Word. Jesus thought it was important enough to teach on in the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30). The Lord has left us His Word to teach us and guide us. With His Word, we can be faithful servants and can fully use the talents He has given to us. Christ’s words to us are a light unto our path (Psalm 119:105). He does not wish for us to fall off a cliff or be deceived. Surely the path to salvation is not one that can be easily seen. It is one that has to be sought. Many will think they are on the right path because their church says they are or because it “feels right” but Jesus said that the way to heaven is a narrow path. Jesus said that many will seek to enter and won’t be able to enter! If anyone will have the final say in this matter, it will be Him – not the catholic church, not a pastor – but The Amen will have the final say.

Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. ~Luke 13:24

Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary defines the word Amen as:

Dependable; faithful; certain.

And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the AMEN, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. ~Revelation3:14-15

This word, with slight differences or orthography, is in all the dialects of the Assyrian stock. As a verb, it signifies to confirm, establish, verify; to trust, or give confidence; as a noun, truth, firmness, trust, confidence; as an adjective, firm, stable. In English, after the oriental manner, it is used at the beginning, but more generally at the end of declarations and prayers, in the sense of, be it firm, be it established.

And let all the people say amen. Psalm 104.

The word is used also as a noun.

“All the promises of God are amen in Christ;” that is, firmness, stability, constancy.

Jesus is “dependable, faithful, certain, firm, and stable! What wonderful attributes to be given to the Lord! Our Rock and Chief Cornerstone is faithful and will have the final word in all things. His Word will be fulfilled to the tiniest jot and tittle!

For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. ~Matthew 5:18

Paul warned the Romans about those who would try to twist God’s Word and would try to preach a lie. Every known major religion today is based on a written word of some kind. They have taken doctrine(s) and formed an entire religion based on that doctrine. Changing God’s Word will surely bring judgment.

Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. ~Romans 1:25

Which some professing have erred concerning the faith… ~1 Timothy 6:21a

Jesus will have the final word. What have we done with His Word today? Have we followed it? Have we given the responsibility of reading and interpreting the Word to other? Catholicism will have its members believe that they cannot interpret the Word of God for themselves because they do not have the ability to do so. The Apostle Peter stated otherwise:

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. ~2 Peter 1:19-20

Why would Peter state that interpreting God’s Word was not privy to any one person? Noah Webster’s definition of private is:

PRI’VATE, a. [L. privatus, from privo, to bereave, properly to strip or separate; privus, singular, several, peculiar to one's self, that is, separate; rapio, diripio, eripio; privo for perivo or berivo.]

1. Properly, separate; unconnected with others; hence, peculiar to one’s self; belonging to or concerning an individual only; as a man’s private opinion, business or concerns; private property; the king’s private purse; a man’s private expenses. Charge the money to my private account in the company’s books.

Therefore, Peter was of the belief that anyone could read God’s Word and understand it. Why should the poor catholic not have the awesome privilege of reading and understanding God’s Holy Word? Why should anyone be deprived of the living water that will quench their thirst? Jesus Christ, wants to speak to us through His Word so that we can come to know the Amen intimately!

Israeli Insider defies Islamic threats, posts banned Fitna film about Koran

This video contains grisly scenes and should not be watched in the presence of children.Israel Insider here posts “Fitna”, the controversial movie by Dutchman Geert Wilders that seeks to show how violent verses of the Koran and preaching of Islamic clerics are translated into global terror. The 15 minute movie starts with the bomb-headed Mohammed cartoon that previously triggered riots throughout the world, and then juxtaposes Koranic passages with grisly scenes of carnage carried out by Muslims in recent years and Moslem clerics calling for murder and violence towards all non-believers. In one case a frenzied imam pulls out a sword and acts out the beheadings he would like to carry out: “By Allah, we shall cut off the Jew’s head! Allah is great! Allah is great! Jihad for the sake of Allah!” The audience, similarly enthused, cheers him on.The film was banned first by internet registrar Network Solutions and then video site LiveLeak.YouTube has continued to allow the streaming of a Dutch version with passable English subtitles, which is embedded here.”http://www.youtube.com/v/bCrCsTMokTU&hl=en”The movie has drawn condemnation from Arab countries around the world, as well as from Australia, Holland, the European Union and the United Nations. Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith rejected the film’s premise of equating Islam with acts of terror and violence and said it was an attempt to incite racial hatred. The Netherlands’ Central Jewish Board called the film’s focus on anti-Jewish preaching by Muslims “counterproductive” and “generalizing.”One of the Koranic verses quoted in the movie reads, “Those who have disbelieved our signs, we shall roast them in fire. Whenever their skins are crispy like a turkey’s skin, we shall substitute new skins for them, that they may feel the punishment. Verily, Allah is sublime and wise.” This is followed by scenes of enemies of Islam being dragged through the streets, a bombed-out bus in London, an imam calling for death to all Jews, and signs at Moslem rallies reading, “Be prepared for the real Holocaust,” “God bless Hitler,” and “Islam will dominate the world.”

Another quoted verse: “Therefore, when ye meet the unbelievers, smite at their necks, and when ye have caused a bloodbath among them, bind a bond firmly on them.” Another Moslem preacher is then seen saying calmly, “Throats must be slit and skulls must be shattered – this is the path to victory.”

Imams and Moslem leaders are shown preaching, “Islam is a religion that wants to rule the world. It has done so before, and eventually will rule it again… By Allah, the day will come when we will rule the entire world again! The day will come when we will rule America! The day will come when we will rule Britain! … You will take over the USA! You will defeat them all! You will get victory!”

The Washington Post has an Associated Press story concentrating on the reactions to the movie, with nothing about its content; the report relates to the film as an “insult” to Islam, with quotes by many Islamic political leaders to this effect and comparing it to the Danish cartoons about Muhammed. An earlier Reuters story in the Washington Post followed the same line, though it included one and a half sentences describing the film’s actual content.

At the end of the film, the seconds tick down and end with an explosion.

Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende said in a statement that “the vast majority of Muslims reject extremism and violence.”

“In fact, the victims are often also Muslims. We therefore regret that Mr. Wilders has released this film. We believe it serves no purpose other than to cause offense.”

This video contains grisly scenes and should not be watched in the presence of children.

Names of Jesus – Day 7 – Lamb of God

When one finally understands why Jesus was called the “Lamb of God,” this name should cut to the core of our hearts! Our salvation required the sacrifice of innocent blood from a sinless Saviour – it required His life. Did Christ sin? No! But why should He pay the price for our wickedness?

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ~John 3:16

Just as God required the Jews to take a spotless lamb to the high priest to sacrifice and atone for their sins, so did Jesus Christ offer Himself as the final sacrifice and His precious blood was the payment for the penalty of our sins so we may have eternal life.

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. ~John 1:29

And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God! ~John 1:36

For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. ~Matthew 26:28

There is no one who can claim this title. Mary cannot claim it. Mohammad cannot claim it. Joseph Smith cannot claim it. None of these were sinless and nor did they give up their lives in payment for our sins. It is only by Jesus’ own shed blood that we can stand before the Father without judgment.

Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. ~Romans 5:9

The Father looks upon the born-again Christian and sees only the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ. The Father does not see our wickedness – He sees His Son’s sacrifice! Therefore, Christ’s blood justifies us and saves us from the wrath to come! The catholic cannot say this because the catholic church teaches that when they die, they go to purgatory. Purgatory is a place where catholics are condemned to fire! Does this sound like Romans 5:9 and its reference to being saved from wrath? Here are a couple of excerpts from catholic writings that help to explain the catholic’s purgatory:

“Whereas the Catholic Church, instructed by the Holy Ghost, has from the Sacred Scriptures and the ancient tradition of the Fathers taught in Councils and very recently in this Ecumenical synod (Sess. VI, cap. XXX; Sess. XXII cap.ii, iii) that there is a purgatory, and that the souls therein are helped by the suffrages of the faithful, but principally by the acceptable Sacrifice of the Altar; the Holy Synod enjoins on the Bishops that they diligently endeavor to have the sound doctrine of the Fathers in Councils regarding purgatory everywhere taught and preached, held and believed by the faithful” (Denzinger, “Enchiridon”, 983).

In Origen the doctrine of purgatory is very clear. If a man departs this life with lighter faults, he is condemned to fire which burns away the lighter materials, and prepares the soul for the kingdom of God, where nothing defiled may enter. “For if on the foundation of Christ you have built not only gold and silver and precious stones (1 Corinthians 3); but also wood and hay and stubble, what do you expect when the soul shall be separated from the body? Would you enter into heaven with your wood and hay and stubble and thus defile the kingdom of God; or on account of these hindrances would you remain without and receive no reward for your gold and silver and precious stones? Neither is this just. It remains then that you be committed to the fire which will burn the light materials; for our God to those who can comprehend heavenly things is called a cleansing fire. But this fire consumes not the creature, but what the creature has himself built, wood and hay and stubble. It is manifest that the fire destroys the wood of our transgressions and then returns to us the reward of our great works.” (P. G., XIII, col. 445, 448 ).

To the born again believer, our judgment has already been paid by Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. We are justified by His blood. The Lamb of God took away our sin and the penalty for it has been paid. Upon our death, we are present with the Lord – we do not need to be purged any further because the precious blood of the Lamb of God was sufficient!

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: ~Hebrews 9:27 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. ~2 Corinthians 5:8

Mini-Manna for Little Lambs – Day 18 – Who is God?

Coloring/Teaching

Let’s color the picture of the wind! When you go outside, can you see the wind? Can you feel the wind? The wind is just like God. We can’t see God but we can feel Him!

God is Like the Blowing Wind
(sung to Mary Had a Little Lamb)

God is like the blowing wind
Blowing wind
Blowing wind
God is like the blowing wind
I feel Him by my side.

Bible Time

(Joh 3:8 ) The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Story

Billy’s Daddy bought him a kite and he was so anxious to go outside to fly his new kite! It had the picture of a butterfly on it and he wanted to see it fly! After Billy finished his lunch, Daddy and he went outside.

Daddy looked around and sadly said, “I’m sorry, Billy! But we can’t fly your kite right now because there isn’t any wind.”

“But why do we need the wind, Daddy?” exclaimed Billy.

Daddy said, “We need the wind to pick up your kite and make it fly, Billy.”

Billy sat on the front steps for a minute with a frown on his face.

“Daddy,” Billy asked, “How will you know when there is wind?”

Daddy responded, “You cannot see the wind but you can tell when it is there because you can feel it. Do you see that tree, Billy? Do you see any leaves moving on it?”

Billy did not see any leaves moving and just shook his head, no.

Daddy continued, “So when all the leaves begin to move, you can be sure it is the wind that is making them move. You will also feel the wind on your face, Billy. Let’s sit down on the front steps and I will tell you how the wind is just like God.”

So Billy and Daddy sat on the steps. Daddy said, “You can’t see God, can you, Billy?” Billy shook his head, no.

“You can’t see God but you can feel Him in your heart. When you tell a lie or when you disobey, don’t you feel badly?” Billy nodded. “That’s God speaking to you.”

“But, Daddy,” said Billy, “I don’t hear God speaking to me!”

“No, you don’t hear His voice but you know that you have done something wrong, don’t you? When you ask Jesus to come in your heart, He lives in your heart and you know He is there because you feel badly when you sin. Just like the wind, Billy. You don’t see the wind but you feel the wind on your face or you see it blowing in the trees. Does that make sense, Billy?”

“Yes, Daddy, it sure does!” said Billy.

Just as Billy finished speaking, he jumped up and screamed, “Daddy! I feel the wind on my face! Can we go fly my kite now?”

Daddy smiled, picked up the kite and off they went! (smile again and clap your hands)

Dear God…
Even though I can’t see You,
I know you are nearby. Amen!

Mini-Manna for Little Lambs – Day 17 – Review

Review

Let’s review what we have learned so far, OK? Do you remember what we learned the past two days? (wait to see if they will answer – if they answer correctly, clap your hands and say, “Yeh! That’s right! Good job!) We learned about being content and not telling lies, didn’t we!

Do you remember our Bible verses? Let’s go over them together:

Bible Verses

Mat 6:26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

What does it mean to be content? Do you remember the story about being content? Who feeds the birds? (Wait for an answer) Yes, God feeds the birds! (clap your hands) Do the birds complain about their food? (shake your head no) No, the birds eat whatever God gives them. Should you complain when Mommy makes you eat something you don’t like? (shake your head no) No, you should be happy (or content) with anything that Mommy puts on your plate. God is happy when you are content with what you have.

Remember the song we sang?

Song
(sung to The Muffin Man)

I have learned to be content
To be content
To be content
I have learned to be content
And thankful I must beThere are some who have no food
Who have no food
Who have no food
There are some who have no food
So I must not complain

There are some who have no clothes
Who have no clothes
Who have no clothes
There are some who have no clothes
God takes care of me

Good job!! I’m so glad that you remember what we learned! You are doing such a great job! Mommy and Daddy are very proud of you! (clap your hands)

What else did we learn? (wait to see if they remember then clap your hands if they do!) We learned that lying is a sin, didn’t we? Is it ever O.K. to tell a lie? (shake your head no and frown) What does God think of lying? (wait for answers) Yes, that’s right – God is sad when you lie. (clap your hands and smile) It’s always right to tell the truth right away. (smile and shake your head yes) God wants you to tell the truth. What was our verse? Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy brother (Exo 20:16) Let’s repeat it again! Good job (clap your hands)!! Let’s sing our song – do you remember it?

You Must Not Tell a Lie
(sung to The Farmer in the Dell)

You must not tell a lie
You must not tell a lie
God says that lying is a sin
You must not tell a lie

I must not tell a lie
I must not tell a lie
It makes my parents really sad
I must not tell a lie

Mommy and Daddy are so happy when you tell the truth! (clap your hands and smile) Telling the truth makes God happy, too! Good job!! (clap your hands again)

Dear God…
Please help me to always tell the truth and to always be happy with what I have.
Amen!
