Single or Married – Day 5 – What Kind of Man Should I Look For?

Dating is made simple when a man or a woman takes the time to watch a person before even dating that person. In the next couple of days, we will look at what characteristics a Christian should be looking for in a person they want to date.

Today, we will look at what a woman should be looking for in a man. When she observes this man in action, she can save herself heartache and trouble even before that first date. What should you be looking for in a man? The suggestions below are to make you think. They are not in any particular order of priority nor are they the only things you should be looking for in a man. I want you to be able to focus on what characteristics are important – what characteristics last a life time – what characteristics make “the godly man.”

1. Are you convinced of his salvation? Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? (2 Cor 6:14)

2. Does he appear to love God above all else? Is he “in his Bible” and studious of it? Check out his walk with the Lord. If he is mediocre in this area, he will be mediocre in everything else. And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. (Deu 6:5)

3. Is he a faithful soulwinner? If he doesn’t care for the lost, it’s hard to imagine that he is a true Christian. They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. (Psa 126:5) He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. (Psa 126:6)

4. Is he in church whenever the doors are open? Although faithful church attendance does not save anyone, it is a fruit of salvation. Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. (Heb 10:25)

5. Does he work in a ministry? Is he excited about his ministry? Is he faithful to it? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. (Jam 2:17)

6. How does he treat the Pastor? Is he seeking to be a help to him? Is he attentive to him? Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you. (Heb 13:17)

7. Does he honor and respect his parents? How does he treat them? Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) (Eph 6:2)

8. How does he treat the senior ladies in the church? Is he respectful? Is he a gentleman? Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. (Tit 2:6) In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, (Tit 2:7) Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you. (Tit 2:8)

9. Does he belittle others in public to make himself seem better than they are? Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. (Phi 2:3)

10. Is he a servant? Does he look well to the needs of others? If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. (Joh 13:14)

I’m sure this list could have a few more things added to this but I believe it’s a good start. If you can answer these questions favorably, then dating this man will allow you to learn more about him.

Single or Married – Day 4 – So You’re Thinking of Dating

So you’re thinking of entering the “dating scene”! The Christian dating scene should be nothing like the world’s. In fact, the Christian’s perspective needs to be totally opposite what the world’s perspective is. Why? Because the Lord says, Be ye holy for I am holy.” Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God. (Lev 20:7) But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; (1 Pet 1:15) Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. (1 Pet 1:16) This includes being holy in dating.

First of all, I believe the most important thing about dating is that as a believer you should date only other believers who love the Lord as much as you. Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? (2 Cor 6:14) The unbeliever is likened to unrighteous and darkness in this verse. Don’t be fooled into thinking that you will lead this unbeliever to the Lord if you date him/her. The unbeliever will drag you down spiritually. The unbeliever will cause you to stumble in your Christian walk. It won’t be all at once but slowly so you don’t see it happening. I’m sure you’ve been around unsaved friend. Being around this unsaved person is truly a challenge, is it not? We can all speak from experience that when we are around an unbeliever, we hear things we shouldn’t hear. We are also exposed to things that we would not normally be exposed to. It will be ten times worse with dating an unsaved person. The more familiar and comfortable that person gets with you, their true colors will come through. They serve their father the devil, so why would you think they would be interested in the things of God? They won’t be so don’t be fooled. Jesus says this of the unsaved, Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (John 8:44)

And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? (2 Cor 6:15) This is pretty serious! Christ likens being with unbelievers as being with Belial, a demon or wicked person! That’s pretty serious stuff! How much more true can this be of dating an unsaved person?!

And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. (2 Cor 6:16) Since you are born again, you are the temple of God. Therefore, why would you want to date a person who is likened to an idol? This unsaved person will lead you to idolatry, my friend. This unsaved person will turn your focus away from God and onto the world. Anything that occupies our thoughts and actions more than God is considered an idol. Remember, a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. This is so important that it is mentioned twice: Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? (1 Cor 5:6) A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. (Gal 5:9)

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, (2 Cor 6:17) The Lord tells you to come out from the world and to not even touch anything of the world. You will be getting to know this unsaved person in a more personal way than you would most things in the world. This verse is definitely more applicable to those we come into close fellowship with.

My best advice to the single Christian today is to take your time finding someone to date. You will be glad you did. If you wait on the Lord, it will save you possible sin and heartache down the line. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. (Psa 27:14) Next time, we will cover what type of Christian you should be looking to date. Until then, keep your eyes focused on the Lord and don’t be consumed with the idea of dating. Let the Lord lay the ground work for you. Only then will it be permanent.

Single or Married – Day 3 – Thinking of Taking a Chance?


But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out. Num. 32:23 I’m sure most of you read about this guy’s lie and how his sin was brought into the open. Keep this in mind as we discuss the next step in living the single Christian life.

When it comes to purity, if you’ve decided that you’re going to go the world’s way rather than God’s, be sure that your sin will find you out. Do you really think that God will be mocked? God never changes. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. (Heb. 13:8) The Word never changes. God says that fornicators won’t go to heaven! That’s serious stuff. God is serious about this sin of fornication. Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, (1 Cor. 6:9) This sin is placed right along side sodomites!

Are you saved? Then yes, when you repent, this sin of fornication will be forgiven, but you will receive punishment from a Holy God. Don’t mock Him with your actions! God actually promises the believer that he will be punished for his sin. My friend, if we are truly saved, our punishment does not lie in eternity because we have been promised eternal life with Christ. Therefore, it stands to reason our punishment will come in this lifetime here on earth. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. (Gal 6:7)

Times are no different. People mocked God in the Old Testament and they are still mocking God today. Our Father in Heaven has such compassion for us and loves us so much that He has given His Word and sent people to warn us of what will happen if the saved Christian willingly disobeys His Word. And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place: (2 Chron. 36:15) But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy. (2 Chron. 36:16) Do you really want to go against God and mock Him only to reap His wrath against you until there is no fixing your problem?

My friend, fornication will reap a whirlwind. Do you really want to receive a punishment that cannot be fixed? Are you ready for a pregnancy? Are you ready for a sexually transmitted disease that will be with you for life? These two end results of fornication are permanent – they cannot be fixed. The child you bring into this world, whether you keep the child or not, will haunt you for the rest of your life. That child will some day want to know who his/her birth parents are and will find you. How will you explain this child to your future husband or wife? You will have to tell them – if you don’t, you’ll be living a life of lies. How will you deal with the disease you’ve contracted? What about your future spouse? You will have to tell him/her. Otherwise you will pass on to them this payment you’ve received for your sin. Pay day some day, my friend. Oh the heartache that comes with a wrong choice. Oh the punishment from God that comes with the sin! Don’t do it!

We serve a just God. Why would God bring punishment like this on His children? Because He loves us. We spank and punish our children because we want them to grow up in the admonition of the Lord. We want them to grow up following God’s Word. We want them to be good citizens representing their Heavenly Kingdom as well as their earthly country. Think of your testimony if you choose to go the route of this sin! The unsaved world is watching! Don’t you think they are mocking God because they see you in action? God has every right to ask us to be pure because we are His. Psa. 24:1 [A Psalm of David.] The earth is the LORD’S, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. Christ paid for our sin debt with His life! For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. (1 Cor. 6:20) We’re commanded here to glorify God in our bodies.

Paul warned us clearly what was expected of us: 1 Cor. 6:15-18, Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. (15) What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. (16) But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. (17) Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. (18) My friend, if you give up your purity before marriage, you will be sinning against your own body. Your punishment will come in like manner. The world may seem to be getting away with this sin but remember that their punishment will be for all eternity.

It seems to me that the average Christian today has become complacent toward this sin. But it is sin, nonetheless. 2 Tim. 4:3 explains why today’s believer sees no problem with giving up his/her purity. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth and shall be turned unto fables. 2 Tim 4:3 The believer today will search out a church to attend where the preacher does not dwell on this sin. Are you guilty of being this believer in these end times? Don’t be fooled, my friend. Any kind of touching with the opposite sex which will lead you to thinking “more” and will lead to desiring “more.” You can count on it.

When God says He forbids something, He FORBIDS it – period! Don’t think about it – don’t watch things on TV about it or read books about it or listen to music about it. Doing so will get your brain going and eventually your heart. You’ll be setting yourself up for a battle that you will lose. If this does not scare you, I hope the repercussions will keep you from even entertaining the thought. We hear so much about God’s goodness and mercy but we don’t hear enough about His judgment.

Honor God in your body and in your mind. Distract yourself and keep yourself busy with the things of God. Stay in His Word and practice it. You will not regret it!

Act 21:13 Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.

Act 21:21 And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.
Act 21:22 What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come.
Act 21:23 Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a vow on them;
Act 21:24 Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law.
Act 21:25 As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.
Act 21:26 Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.
Act 21:27 And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands on him,
Act 21:28 Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place.

Act 21:30 And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took Paul, and drew him out of the temple: and forthwith the doors were shut.
Act 21:31 And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.
Act 21:32 Who immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down unto them: and when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they left beating of Paul.
Act 21:33 Then the chief captain came near, and took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and demanded who he was, and what he had done.
Act 21:34 And some cried one thing, some another, among the multitude: and when he could not know the certainty for the tumult, he commanded him to be carried into the castle.
Act 21:35 And when he came upon the stairs, so it was, that he was borne of the soldiers for the violence of the people.
Act 21:36 For the multitude of the people followed after, crying, Away with him.
Act 21:37 And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto thee? Who said, Canst thou speak Greek?
Act 21:38 Art not thou that Egyptian, which before these days madest an uproar, and leddest out into the wilderness four thousand men that were murderers?
Act 21:39 But Paul said, I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and, I beseech thee, suffer me to speak unto the people.

Revelations 21

Rev 21:11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;

Rev 21:13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.

Rev 21:15 And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.

Rev 21:21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.
Rev 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
Rev 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
Rev 21:24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
Rev 21:25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
Rev 21:26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.
Rev 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

Single or Married – Day 2 – Purity and Chastity

It’s wonderful to see single Christians today dedicate themselves to the cause of Christ! It’s even more wonderful to hear that they have committed to God that they will remain pure until marriage. The devil has been busy working through the world in convincing people that they cannot possibly remain pure until marriage. Although the temptations exist, it is possible to remain pure and chaste as a single Christian – but it will take the Word of God.

Remaining pure until marriage can be a battle if the believer does not protect his senses from the world. The eyes are attacked from everywhere! Billboards, magazines, television and books are filled with pictures that can cause a believer to stumble. Glancing at these pictures is not the sin but dwelling on them will result in sin. The Word has much to say about lust. Christ taught that adultery (or fornication for the single person) is not just a sin of action but a sin that is begun in the heart. But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. (Mat 5:28) The world thinks we’re crazy because we believe the Word of God on this issue! God has not changed, my friend. He is as adamant about purity in our bodies as He was in Christ’s time as well as when the Ten Commandments were given to us.

But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. (Jam 1:14) Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. (Jam 1:15) Young people are tempted so much in today’s world because the media has exploded! What use to be subtle advertisements are now in-your-face and the Christian has to protect himself from them. It’s easy to become complacent to the point where these things don’t even bother you any more. That is what is called grieving the Holy Spirit of God. Have you ever worked in an office where they had “elevator-type” music playing all the time? It gets to the point where you don’t even hear the music any more, right? It’s the same with viewing pictures of scantily clad people. It comes to a point where you are no longer troubled by it. Protect your eyes, Christian! Protect your ears from the world’s language. The more you see and hear what the world has to offer, the more desensitized you will become and the less you will be convicted by the Holy Spirit!

If you’ve already grieved the Holy Spirit, it’s not too late to invite Him to start a new work in your heart! It will take effort on your part. Remove the music, the books, etc. that entice you. Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, (Heb 12:1) Replace these items with godly ones. Ask the Holy Spirit to renew a right spirit within you. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. (Psa 51:10) Your Heavenly Father will welcome this request from you!

Reading the Word will be instrumental in developing a right spirit and a chaste mind. Yes, developing – this will not happen overnight. Your flesh and the devil will battle you every step of the way. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (1 Jo 4:4) You can and will win over your flesh if you are in the Word. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (Psa 119:11) It’s only with the Word and through the Word that a believer can overcome sin. The more you are in the Word, the less you will sin. It is as simple as that.

Turn to the Lord every time you are tempted in this area. You are not the only one who has battled this and overcome and you won’t be the last. However, it is the same God who has brought them all through it. Lastly, get involved with the things of God. Keep yourself occupied by diving into the ministry God has given you – if you don’t have one, get one. Keep your mind and heart focused on the Lord and He will bless you. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. (Pro 4:23)

Dear God…

Acts 20

Act 20:1 And after the uproar was ceased, Paul called unto him the disciples, and embraced them, and departed for to go into Macedonia.

Act 20:9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.
Act 20:10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.
Act 20:11 When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.
Act 20:12 And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.
Act 20:13 And we went before to ship, and sailed unto Assos, there intending to take in Paul: for so had he appointed, minding himself to go afoot.
Act 20:14 And when he met with us at Assos, we took him in, and came to Mitylene.
Act 20:15 And we sailed thence, and came the next day over against Chios; and the next day we arrived at Samos, and tarried at Trogyllium; and the next day we came to Miletus.
Act 20:16 For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.
Act 20:17 And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.
Act 20:18 And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,
Act 20:19 Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:
Act 20:20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house,
Act 20:21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
Act 20:22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:
Act 20:23 Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.
Act 20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
Act 20:25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.
Act 20:26 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.
Act 20:27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.
Act 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
Act 20:29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
Act 20:30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.
Act 20:31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.
Act 20:32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
Act 20:33 I have coveted no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel.
Act 20:34 Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.
Act 20:35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
Act 20:36 And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all.
Act 20:37 And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul’s neck, and kissed him,
Act 20:38 Sorrowing most of all for the words which he spake, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship.

Revelations 20

Rev 20:1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
Rev 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Rev 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
Rev 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Rev 20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
Rev 20:7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
Rev 20:8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
Rev 20:9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Rev 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Psalm 19

Psa 19:1 [To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.] The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
Psa 19:2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.
Psa 19:3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.
Psa 19:4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,
Psa 19:5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.
Psa 19:6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
Psa 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
Psa 19:8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
Psa 19:9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
Psa 19:10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Psa 19:11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
Psa 19:12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.
Psa 19:13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
Psa 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Psalm 49

Psa 49:1 [To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah.] Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world:
Psa 49:2 Both low and high, rich and poor, together.
Psa 49:3 My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.
Psa 49:4 I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.
Psa 49:5 Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?
Psa 49:6 They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;
Psa 49:7 None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: Psa 49:8 (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)
Psa 49:9 That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.
Psa 49:10 For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.
Psa 49:11 Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.
Psa 49:12 Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.
Psa 49:13 This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.
Psa 49:14 Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.
Psa 49:15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.
Psa 49:16 Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
Psa 49:17 For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.
Psa 49:18 Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself.
Psa 49:19 He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.
Psa 49:20 Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.

Psalm 79

Psa 79:1 [A Psalm of Asaph.] O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.
Psa 79:2 The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.
Psa 79:3 Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them.
Psa 79:4 We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.
Psa 79:5 How long, LORD? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?
Psa 79:6 Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.
Psa 79:7 For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his dwelling place.
Psa 79:8 O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

Psa 79:10 Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.
Psa 79:11 Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;
Psa 79:12 And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.
Psa 79:13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

Psalm 109

Psa 109:2 For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue.
Psa 109:3 They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.
Psa 109:4 For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer.
Psa 109:5 And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

Proverbs 19

Acts 19

Act 19:1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
Act 19:2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
Act 19:3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism.
Act 19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
Act 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Act 19:6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
Act 19:7 And all the men were about twelve.
Act 19:8 And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.
Act 19:9 But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.
Act 19:10 And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.
Act 19:11 And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:
Act 19:12 So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.
Act 19:13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.
Act 19:14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.
Act 19:15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
Act 19:16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
Act 19:17 And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.
Act 19:18 And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds.
Act 19:19 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.
Act 19:20 So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.
Act 19:21 After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome.
Act 19:22 So he sent into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him, Timotheus and Erastus; but he himself stayed in Asia for a season.
Act 19:23 And the same time there arose no small stir about that way.
Act 19:24 For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, which made silver shrines for Diana, brought no small gain unto the craftsmen;
Act 19:25 Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth.
Act 19:26 Moreover ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands:
Act 19:27 So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth.
Act 19:28 And when they heard these sayings, they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.
Act 19:29 And the whole city was filled with confusion: and having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul’s companions in travel, they rushed with one accord into the theatre.
Act 19:30 And when Paul would have entered in unto the people, the disciples suffered him not.
Act 19:31 And certain of the chief of Asia, which were his friends, sent unto him, desiring him that he would not adventure himself into the theatre.
Act 19:32 Some therefore cried one thing, and some another: for the assembly was confused; and the more part knew not wherefore they were come together.
Act 19:33 And they drew Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander beckoned with the hand, and would have made his defence unto the people.
Act 19:34 But when they knew that he was a Jew, all with one voice about the space of two hours cried out, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.
Act 19:35 And when the townclerk had appeased the people, he said, Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?
Act 19:36 Seeing then that these things cannot be spoken against, ye ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rashly.
Act 19:37 For ye have brought hither these men, which are neither robbers of churches, nor yet blasphemers of your goddess.
Act 19:38 Wherefore if Demetrius, and the craftsmen which are with him, have a matter against any man, the law is open, and there are deputies: let them implead one another.
Act 19:39 But if ye enquire any thing concerning other matters, it shall be determined in a lawful assembly.
Act 19:40 For we are in danger to be called in question for this day’s uproar, there being no cause whereby we may give an account of this concourse.
Act 19:41 And when he had thus spoken, he dismissed the assembly.

Rev 19:2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.

Rev 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
Rev 19:8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
Rev 19:9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
Rev 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
Rev 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
Rev 19:12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
Rev 19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
Rev 19:14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
Rev 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
Rev 19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
Rev 19:17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;

Single or Married – Day 1 – To Be Single or Not to Be Single?

Is it your desire to be single or married? That is a question every young person asks themselves. But for the Christian, this question is even weightier. Unlike what the world believes, marriage is forever. The world would have you to believe that it’s OK for a Christian to be divorced and remarried, but God’s Word says differently. And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. (Mar 10:11) And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery. (Mar 10:12)

This month, we will discuss what the Word has to say about being single, dating, being engaged, marriage, divorce and remarriage. God instructs His people quite clearly, although man has added his own teaching and opinion. This was true even in Moses’ time. Marriage is so serious and so permanent that God put it in the Ten Commandments. Thou shalt not commit adultery. (Exo 20:14) …thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife…(Exo 20:17) Also, fornication (which is sex before marriage) was spoken of 28 times in the New Testament alone! Just because the Ten Commandments are in the Old Testament, it does not mean that we are not obligated to follow them. God thinks purity before marriage is just as important as fidelity after marriage, my friend.

The Law (the Ten Commandments) show us our sin. Once we acknowledge our sin before a Holy God, we are pointed to a need for a Saviour through our Lord Jesus Christ. When it comes to finding out how to living a godly single life as a believer, the Word says it best. Here are some good verses to ponder:

Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. (1 Cor 7:1) and vice-versa.Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. (1 Cor 7:2)For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. (1 Cor 7:7) Not everyone is called of God to remain single. But for those who are single, God’s Word says it is “do-able” through Christ.

I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. (1 Cor 7:8)

But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. (1 Cor 7:9) Notice how serious Paul says it is here? Fornication for the single person will cause him to burn! The sins from the Old Testament are alive and well in the New Testament. God views fornication as sin and deals with it severely!

But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord: (1 Cor 7:32)But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife. (1 Cor 7:33)There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. (1 Cor 7:34)

Paul said it was good to be single. However, one should be married in order to avoid fornication. Paul encouraged the believer to remain single because when one is single they can care for the things of the Lord and not of the world. A single person does not have to worry about staying out longer on his bus route or soul winning. A single person does not have to check with his spouse if he wants to go straight to a Bible study after work.

Being chaste and pure in today’s world is certainly a battle. To win this battle means the Christian must be totally devoted to the cause of Christ and walking closely beside Him. Being pure is do-able, my friend! The world would have you think that the Christian cannot contain himself. The world would have you think that there is no way you can abstain from fornication. The Word heals all things and the Word will keep the single Christian on the right path if the single Christian turns to it. You’ve heard the saying, “The Bible will keep you from sin and sin will keep you from the Bible.” There is not a truer statement.

One of the major hurdles a single Christian today must overcome is controlling their thought life. It’s the mind that sets the groundwork for sin. When we nurture a lustful thought and dwell on it, you can be sure it will end in sin. A few good verses that would be worth committing to memory are:

Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. (Pro 16:3)

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Phi 4:8)

And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him; (Mar 7:18) All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. (Mar 7:23)

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (Jam 4:7)

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (1 Jo 4:4)

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. (1 Cor 10:13) I have personally heard from the mouth of a single Christian that they did not think they could remain chaste and pure until marriage. This verse says otherwise. If the Christian does not put himself in a situation where he will stumble, he won’t. If the Christian protects his thought life, he won’t be busy thinking of what he can’t do but of what he CAN do with the help of Christ. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. (Phi 4:13)

Oh single Christian, you can remain pure and chaste until marriage. The devil would have you to believe that you cannot but he is the father of lies (John 8:44). It’s a mind set and a heart set. Stay away from situations which will cause you to stumble. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. (Pro 4:23) The devil wants you to be weak. But we serve the King of kings, the Lord of lords! We serve a mighty God. Would our God lie to you? Of course not. But Satan surely would. You CAN do ALL things through Christ because He WILL strengthen you. Don’t fall for the devil’s lies, my friend.

In closing, let me leave you with a thought. It is better to remain single than to go down the aisle with the wrong person. Marriage can be sweet and heavenly when it is with the person God has picked for you. Being married to anyone other than the one God picked for you will give you a mediocre marriage. You will go through greater trials and tribulations. All marriages have trials and tribulations. However, when you’re married to the one God has picked for you, there are greater blessings as a result of these trials.

Take heed to the warnings you have read. God gave Eve to Adam – let Him give your mate to you. Wait on the Lord – and if God desires you to be single, accept His will for your life and serve Him to your utmost. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. (Psa 27:14)

Dear God…
Help my thoughts be focused on You
When temptation comes my way
Encourage my heart as I read Your Word
So my thought life is pure today

Day 30 – Christ, The Victor

Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. Psalm 20:7 Chariots and horses were the tanks and fighter jets of David’s day. Battles were won because of chariots and horses. But in that same statement, David goes on to say that he would remember the name of the LORD our God. David recognized where his help came from. [A Song of degrees.] I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. (Psa 121:1) My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. (Psa 121:2)

Do we really know where our help comes from? Do we realize just Who we are serving? Our King will not lose! The battle is not ours, my friend. The battle is His. And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’S, and he will give you into our hands. (1 Sam. 17:47) The Book of Revelation shows us Christ is the Victor in the end! He will have the final victory over the enemy! I found it interesting that the phrase “every knee” appears only three times in the Word. Each time, the reference is to Christ!

I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. (Isa 45:23)For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. (Rom 14:11)

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; (Phi 2:10)

We will all bow our knee to the King of kings and Lord of lords! Our battles on this earth will all be behind us! Jesus Christ, the King, will have won not only the battles but He will have won the war against Satan! Ole slew foot’s time is almost over! He is fighting his battles with all fervancy trying to defeat the Christian. Are you going to allow the devil to win in your battle? If you do, you will be ashamed when you stand before Christ and give account for your little faith. Why not have victory instead so your tears will be tears of joy and not of shame and sorrow?!

Psalm 138

Proverbs 18

Acts 18

Act 18:1 After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;
Act 18:2 And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.
Act 18:3 And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.
Act 18:4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.
Act 18:5 And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.
Act 18:6 And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.
Act 18:7 And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man’s house, named Justus, one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue.
Act 18:8 And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.
Act 18:9 Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:
Act 18:10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.
Act 18:11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.
Act 18:12 And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,
Act 18:13 Saying, This fellow persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law.
Act 18:14 And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you:
Act 18:15 But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters.
Act 18:16 And he drave them from the judgment seat.
Act 18:17 Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things.
Act 18:18 And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.
Act 18:19 And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.
Act 18:20 When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not;
Act 18:21 But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.
Act 18:22 And when he had landed at Caesarea, and gone up, and saluted the church, he went down to Antioch.
Act 18:23 And after he had spent some time there, he departed, and went over all the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.
Act 18:24 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.
Act 18:25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.
Act 18:26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.
Act 18:27 And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:
Act 18:28 For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.

Revelations 18

Rev 18:1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.
Rev 18:2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
Rev 18:3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
Rev 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
Rev 18:5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
Rev 18:6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.
Rev 18:7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
Rev 18:8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.
Rev 18:9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,
Rev 18:10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
Rev 18:11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:
Rev 18:12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,
Rev 18:13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.
Rev 18:14 And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.
Rev 18:15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,
Rev 18:16 And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!
Rev 18:17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
Rev 18:18 And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!
Rev 18:19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.
Rev 18:20 Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.
Rev 18:21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.
Rev 18:22 And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;
Rev 18:23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.
Rev 18:24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.
