I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. (Psa 139:14) My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. (Psa 139:15) Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. (Psa 139:16)

I’ve been doing a study on the use of birth control pills. I was reading how some versions of “the pill” prevented the egg from implantation into the uterus and how sometimes the egg has already been fertilized. This began to bother me so I did the study. Not because I need to convince myself that life begins when the egg is fertilized, but because some Christians don’t seem to know when life begins. God’s Word is the only tool we should use to convince ourselves as well as others. Man’s opinions are many, but God’s Word should be final to the believer.

I noticed in God’s Word that He refers to man’s “seed.” I often wondered why God chose the same word for plant seeds as man’s seeds. I researched the plant seed and when the seed comes to life (germination). This quote was taken from www.fastplants.org:

Germination is the awakening of a seed (embryo) from a resting state. It involves the harnessing of energy stored within the seed and is activated by components in the environment. Growth represents increase in size, number and complexity of plant cells and organs. Environment and genetics play fundamental roles in regulating growth. The energy for growth comes from photosynthesis

As you can see, a plant’s seed life cycle is no different from the human’s seed life cycle. We can almost take the same quote and replace germination with fertilization, etc. In fact, let’s try that:

Fertilization is the awakening of the embryo from a resting state. It involves the harnessing of energy stored within the seed and is activated by components in the mother’s body. Growth represents increase in size, number and complexity of the fetus’ cells and organs. Environment and genetics play fundamental roles in regulating growth. The energy for growth comes from within the mother.

As you can see, I did not have to change much in that quote to convert it to a human seed definition. I have said all of this to make the following points. Please bear with me.

Christians today believe that taking birth control pills is a “private and personal” matter. They believe that the fertilized egg is not yet alive since science says the heart begins to beat at the earliest at 12 weeks. These same Christians back this belief with Leviticus 17:11 which says that life of the flesh is in blood. Therefore the Christian believes the fetus’ life does not begin until at least 12 weeks because that is when the heart begins to pump blood. Let’s pick that apart a bit.

I think we can all agree that NO cell can reproduce if it is a dead cell. Ovulation usually takes place in the middle of a woman’s cycle. The egg can only be fertilized at this time. If the egg is fertilized, it will travel to the uterus and implant into the uterus. The woman will then miss her cycle and begin to suspect pregnancy. By the time she has missed her cycle, the egg has been growing for about a week or so.

If the egg is not fertilized, the egg is released with her next cycle. As well, if the egg is fertilized but the cells within it die, whether prior to implanation or afterwards, a miscarriage occurs. It stands to reason that the fetus does not continue to grow if the cells have died.

With that said, how then, can these same cells separate, divide and reproduce prior to 12 weeks prior to when the heart begins to beat if they are not alive? These same living cells are conducting “business as usual” prior to the heart even beginning to beat. This is science, plain and simple. One cannot refute this scientific fact. But does God’s Word state the same facts? Should the Christian depend on science to know when life begins? Or should the Christian depend on God’s Word to guide and direct in this area?

What then does God’s Word have to say about when life begins? Psalm 139:16 states that God’s eyes see our substance, yet being unperfect. The Greek word for unperfect is H1564 golem meaning unformed mass. The verse goes on to say that the members are written in Heaven when as yet they had no form. Each of our members are written in heaven. God has recorded in Heaven whether this baby’s index finger will have a freckle on it or not or whether his big toe will curl in like its father. According to the Word, this fetus continually grows until birth.

Read the end of verse 16: when as yet there was none of them. Is God referring to the egg prior to fertilization here? I don’t think so. This surely sounds like a fetus in its early stages having no form yet – no feet or hands – no heart or heart beat. When as yet there was none of what? Of them – the members! God’s Word says that He has written in heaven everything about this fetus even when the members were not formed – even the heart! If God did not regard a fetus at conception through 12 weeks as a living soul, this verse would not be in the Word as it would be in direct contradiction.

God’s ways and thoughts are not the same as ours. The knowledge of man and his science are taken as law amongst God’s own. Just because man says that life does not begin until the fetus is at least 12 weeks does not mean that it is so according to God. God’s Word says that His thoughts are not the same as man’s. In fact, God wants to make it so perfectly clear that He emphasizes it by stating it twice, one right after the other! For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. (Isa 55:8) For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isa 55:9)

Some Christians will probably read this and say, “Well, what about the other 50% of the time where the egg is not fertilized?” OK, this is true … but can you pick the time? How can you be sure that in the time one takes the birth control pill that an egg won’t be fertilized at least once? Christian, are you willing to keep this baby from implantation into the mother’s uterus? Are you willing to take the chance of losing a living soul that God has given you? That baby’s members are written in heaven. That baby, yet unformed, is seen by God. That baby’s cells started splitting and duplicating and separating the day the egg was fertilized. The day that egg was fertilized, life began because cells started separating and forming.

I pray that as Christians read this, they will realize that science has deceived the Christian into believing their agenda of convenient conception. Science conveniently can say that a cell is alive when it is splitting but then contradicts itself by saying that a fetus can be aborted because it has not been born yet. The “conservative” Christian says that the fetus IS alive but only when the heart begins to beat. But science and God come together and agree that when a cell begins to split, it is alive. It’s not often that the Word and the world’s science agree but they do agree on this point. Why then does the Christian say the fetus isn’t alive prior to the heart beating? Please, Christian, won’t you study the Word for yourself? I pray my study encourages you to get into the Word and study for yourself.

God’s Word says Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. (Psa 139:16)

The Mayo Clinic is probably one of the most reknown medical facilities in the world. I was on their website today and the Lord truly blessed me with the research. I am a firm believer that any baby is a human life even at the point of conception. However, for those of you who support abortion, I plead with you to look at this logically.

According to the Mayo Clinic, during the week after fertilization, the blastocyst (fertilized egg) attaches itself to the uterine wall. This marks the week where the embryonic period begins and this is:

“when the baby’s brain, spinal cord, heart and other organ begin to form. Your baby is now 1/25 of an inch long. (emphasis mine)

Notice how Mayo Clinic calls this embryo a baby? It’s so convenient for the world to have abortions when they are told that this embryo or fetus is not “really” a human life. However, what does the word of God say?

The Scripture says that the life of flesh is in the blood. (Lev 17:11a) For the life of the flesh is in the blood: When does blood actually begin to flow during the gestation period? According to the Mayo Clinic,

Week 5: Baby’s heart begins to beat – Your baby at week five (three weeks after conception)
——————————————————————————–
At week five, your baby is 1/17 of an inch long — about the size of the tip of a pen.

This week, your baby’s heart and circulatory system are taking shape. Your baby’s blood vessels will complete a circuit, and his or her heart will begin to beat. Although you won’t be able to hear it yet, the motion of your baby’s beating heart may be detected with an ultrasound exam.

With these changes, blood circulation begins — making the circulatory system the first functioning organ system. (emphasis mine)

I have emphasized the word “baby” throughout this quote from Mayo Clinic’s website to show you that even they consider this to be a baby. Did the Mayo Clinic really mean to call this a baby or was it convenient?

When it is inconvenient (for those proponents of abortion), this baby is considered a fetus. To the woman guilty of desiring an abortion, this detaches her from any emotional tie to her baby. She views this as a choice and not a baby. The Bible says that life begins with the blood of all flesh – even the Mayo Clinic says that this baby’s (this “life”) circulatory system and heart are now working! Thus we have a living, human life form – a precious and beautiful baby!

What do you do with this? Of course, if you want to justify your sin of murder, you would say that you do not believe the Bible. You would further say that there is no God. (Psa 53:1) [To the chief Musician upon Mahalath, Maschil, A Psalm of David.] The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.

(Psa 10:13) Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it. The murderer will be required to pay for the spilt blood of an aborted child. God said, (Exo 20:13) Thou shalt not kill. It will be required of you to pay for this sin, my friend. (Exo 21:12) He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death. Murder is the killing of human life. Life begins with the beating heart, therefore, it stands to reason that this life ceases when the heart stops beating.

This baby is surely considered a living being according to God’s word. But if you need the world’s opinion, the Mayo Clinic states that this baby’s heart is beating and its brain is functioning. Ironically, the world states that when the heart and brain stop functioning, a human life has died. Why then can’t the world reverse this thought process and say that life actually began with the brain and heart functioning? They cannot because that would mean that they have allowed legalized murder and they are guilty themselves of murder! As of this date (June 2011), New York City has a 70% abortion rate, according to the CDC. Each mother and father that has agreed to an abortion is a murderer. Each doctor and nurse who has participated in abortions is guilty of murder!

The life is in the blood – The Mayo Clinic has unknowingly agreed with the Word of God. How ironic. My friend, if you have had an abortion, I ask that you write to me. The Lord Jesus is ready to forgive you of your sins and you can be born again in newness of life. (John 3:3, 2 Corinthians 5:17)

If you are contemplating an abortion, won’t you wait? Please write to me! Let me show you what God’s Word has to say. If you are under conviction, praise the Lord God Almighty. It is not too late to be born again! Today is the day! Won’t you come to Jesus now, repent of your sin and be saved? (Mat 11:28 ) Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

1. There is a preacher and wife who are very, very poor. They already have 14 kids. Now she finds out she is pregnant with her 15th. They are living in tremendous poverty. Considering their poverty and the excessive world population, would you consider recommending abortion?

2. The father is sick with sniffles, the mother has TB. They have 4 children. The first is blind, the second is dead. The third is deaf and the fourth has TB. The mother finds she is pregnant again. Given the extreme situation, would you recommend abortion?

3. A man raped a 13 year old girl and she got pregnant. If you were her parents, would you consider recommending abortion?

4. A teenage girl is pregnant. She is not married. Her fiancee is not the father of the baby, and he is very upset. Would you recommend an abortion?

If you have answered “yes” to any of these situations:

In the first case you would have killed John Wesley, one of the great evangelists of the 18th century.

In the second case, you would have killed Beethoven.

In the third case you would have killed Ethel Waters, the great gospel singer.

In the fourth case you would have recommended the murder of Jesus Christ.

With U. S. abortion deaths topping 30 million, only God knows what we have sacrificed in lost human talent and creativity.

Psalm 119:121-128

AIN
121 I have done judgment and justice: leave me not to mine oppressors.
122 Be surety for thy servant for good: let not the proud oppress me.
123 Mine eyes fail for thy salvation, and for the word of thy righteousness.
124 Deal with thy servant according unto thy mercy, and teach me thy statutes.
125 I am thy servant; give me understanding, that I may know thy testimonies.
126 It is time for thee, Lord, to work: for they have made void thy law.
127 Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold.
128 Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way.

Standing up for what is in alignment with God’s word is not always easy.  I can sense the frustration expressed by the Psalmist in these next eight verses. Here in Psalm 119:121, he tells the Lord how he has done what is right in His sight and he pleads that God would not allow his enemies to overcome him.  So many times we do what we know to be right but we create waves and ruffle some feathers in the process.  It’s never easy taking a stand for what is righteous!  In fact, it is then that we will receive persecution.  Many a Christian mouth has been silenced for fear of the repercussions from those who hate God’s word! To submit to this is cowardly! We are no better than Peter (Matthew 26:74) when he denied knowing Christ!  Oh what a wicked world we would change if Christians would be bolder in speaking out for what is right!

I can almost hear the Psalmist (Psalm 119:122) as he pleads to God in the night hours: “Lord, I know that what I have to do is the right thing in this situation and I know that those who oppose me will create a major stink over this! Please let me be secure (safe) in Your word as I stand for what is right.”  He pleaded his cause so much that he couldn’t even see straight (Psalm 119:123)!  “I’ve cried and searched my Bible in the wee hours of the night, to the point where I can’t see straight, Lord!  If I’m wrong, show me – deal with me mercifully if I am, and show me Your will so I can do that which is right! (Psalm 119:124) And Lord, I’m your child so please give me understanding in this situation as I read Your word! (Psalm 119:125).  I want to do what is right!”  Can’t you just hear him?

What a prayer!  How many times have I personally prayed a similar prayer in time of crisis!!?? Horrible sins are going on all around me! But when I speak up for what is right, I’m told I’m judgmental or legalistic. Read Psalm 119:126 as the Psalmist experiences the same thing. I can’t tell you how many times I have prayed this verse (in my own words) when I see the injustices of abortion and sodomy in our land! “Lord, please judge these wicked, wicked sins and purge our land. Heal our land, Lord! These people do not care a thing about Your word and we’re seeing the effects of their sin through your judgments!” The Psalmist’s enemies didn’t take God’s laws seriously back then either!

The last two verses reflect a heart that has found peace after long sleepless hours begging God for His guidance. I love when the Lord puts a verse right in front of my eyes and I’m covered like a warm blanket by His Spirit as He gives me the answers I’ve been searching for! Psalm 119:127-128 reveal that the Psalmist got exactly what he needed from his time in the word! So much so, he compares it to fine gold – priceless! There can be no price placed when God gives peace and comfort! The joy that comes in the morning after a night of tears and pleading is a wonderful reward for our search! (Psalm 30:11) The enemy can be all around us but we can be safe in God’s shelter!

You can be certain that you will encounter much persecution when you stand on God’s word! The separated Christian will not only suffer at the hand of the unsaved but will also suffer at the hand of believers who have been led astray by wrong doctrine. Let’s take abortion, for example. A sad statistic is found at http://abortionno.org:

Women identifying themselves as Protestants obtain 37.4% of all abortions in the U.S.; Catholic women account for 31.3%, Jewish women account for 1.3%, and women with no religious affiliation obtain 23.7% of all abortions. 18% of all abortions are performed on women who identify themselves as ‘Born-again/Evangelical’.

Has this sickened you? It ought to! What a horrible testimony to the Lord, Jesus Christ! I can’t believe that true born-again believers would have an abortion. If a woman believes herself to be saved and does have an abortion, I think she should seriously look to God’s word and reevaluate her profession of faith. If she is saved, repentance is surely needed! Nonetheless, the world sees these statistics as fact as it relates to abortions by born-again believers! The smear on Christ’s name is just horrible!!! When confronting women about abortion, whether in person or by way of the Internet, we are criticized, called names, and are verbally abused. How can this be so? A murderous act has been performed because the child is a mere inconvenient consequence!  Wake up, Christian! Speak up!

We must stand on what is right, as did the Psalmist in today’s text! We must seek the Lord’s guidance and direction in His word when we need to know what to do in His name. When was the last time you can say you experienced Psalm 119:123?  God will give us wisdom if we ask Him for it (James 1:5).

Stand firm, Christian; the Lord is nigh!  Our time is short!

Kill and Destory

Is your faith based on religious beliefs or on a real relationship with God? Is God just God to you or is He your Heavenly Father – your Abba Daddy? As you read today’s Psalm, does it mean something to you or is it just dry reading? To the true born-again believer, these words are like gold – they are precious and full of meat. The born-again believer reads, studies, gleans and applies God’s Word to his life. Is this true of you, dear catholic?

~Psalm 1:1-6 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. (1) But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. (2) And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. (3) The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. (4) Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. (5) For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. (6)

Examine your own heart, my friend. Can you sit here truthfully and say that you meditate in God’s Word and you delight in it? Or have you allowed your religious leaders to guide and direct you? How do you know what they teach you is from God’s Word? How can you be certain? Do you double check to make sure?

~Nehemiah 9:34 Neither have our kings, our princes, our priests, nor our fathers, kept thy law, nor hearkened unto thy commandments and thy testimonies, wherewith thou didst testify against them.

How can one be certain that he is being taught the truth? You can’t just “hope” that you are being taught the truth, my friend. You, alone, will be held responsible for your own spiritual condition.

~Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

What would seem right to a man as it relates to his spiritual condition? I believe that this means that a man’s religion seems right to him but God warns that his religion is the way of death.

What is religion according to God’s Word? The word “religion” is only used five times in the Bible. The number five represents grace in God’s Word. How appropriate it is that God’s grace saves us from religion!

~Acts 26:5 Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most straitest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.

~Galatians 1:13 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:

~Galatians 1:14 And profited in the Jews’ religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.

~James 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.

~James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Wow! Even Paul, being in the strictest sect of Judaism (a Pharisee) considered his religion wrong. Surely the Pharisee fulfilled James 1:26-27! However, something was different in this born-again “religion.”

Do you keep yourself unspotted from the world? How can one possibly do this? In the flesh, one cannot. As an unsaved person, one cannot fulfill James 1:27 because he is dependent upon his own works to do so. For example, as a catholic I fulfilled visiting the fatherless and widows but that did not save me. Why not? Because I also did not keep myself unspotted from the world. I did as the world and then went to confession. These were my own works and they did not bring peace. I was depending on myself, not on Christ’s complete work on the cross!

The Word has all that we need to guide and instruct us, my friend.

~Psalm 119:18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.

The born-again believer desires God’s Word so that he may learn and grow spiritually. This desire draws him closer to God.

~James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

As a catholic, I was desirous to grow close to God. However, the way that I was taught to do so only drove me further from God. What was I doing wrong? I was not cleansing myself through the Word. I was double minded in my religious beliefs. I believed what the catholic church taught me but I never once opened the Bible to find out whether these teachings were of God. God will teach us. God will “spank” us when we are doing wrong. We do not need the penances of the catholic church.

~Psalm 94:12 Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;

The catholic church has made God’s law void. They want the poor catholic members to rely on the church rather than rely on God’s Word.

~Psalm 119:126 It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void thy law.

The Bible promises that God’s Words will not go out void, however. That is why I have dedicated my life to this blog so I can reach the dear catholic who has depended on his church to save him.

~Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

My friend, God’s Word is never ending. He has not left us to our own devices. He has provided us truth in the Bible. He has provided us instruction in righteousness and truth. Christ, the Word of God, has given Himself for us. He removes all doubt – He removes all debt – He replaces it with eternal life!

~Psalm 119:142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.

Turn to the Bible today and read it. Let Christ show you salvation as He intended it to be. God wants to set you apart from the world. He wants you to be different. He wants you to be born-again, not the words spoken when you were baptized as a baby. Born-again is a newness of life – no longer following after the works of darkness. Search the Scriptures whether these things be so, dear catholic!

~John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

If I Were President

Chuck Baldwin

by Chuck Baldwin
Constitution Party 2008 Presidential Candidate Due to my frequent criticisms of President George W. Bush, I am often asked what I would do if I were President of these United States. This column will serve as an attempt to answer that question. If I were President, I would begin the process of safely extracting our troops from Iraq. In the first place, our troops are no longer fighting a war, they are an occupation force, which occupies a sovereign country. And this is being done without a Declaration of War. The Iraqi people resent our occupation as much as we would resent another nation stronger than ours invading and occupying America. If such a thing happened to our beloved country, I’m sure many of us would also become “insurgents.”

In the second place, the invasion and occupation of Iraq was absolutely unnecessary. Instead of sacrificing more than 4,000 American lives and the lives of tens of thousands of Iraqi citizens (not to mention some 2-3 trillion dollars), President Bush should have supported Ron Paul’s bill, H.R. 3076, the September 11 Marque and Reprisal Act of 2001. This is the constitutional way to deal with rogue terrorist organizations. This is the way President Thomas Jefferson responded to the Barbary pirates.

According to Congressman Paul, “A letter of marque and reprisal is a constitutional tool specifically designed to give the President the authority to respond with appropriate force to those non-state actors who wage aggression against the United States while limiting his authority to only those responsible for the atrocities of that day. Such a limited authorization is consistent with the doctrine of just war and the practical aim of keeping Americans safe while minimizing the costs in blood and treasure of waging such an operation.”

Had President Bush responded in this manner, tens of thousands of lives would have been saved, trillions of dollars would not have needed to be spent, Osama bin Laden and most of his fellow terrorists would likely be dead, and we would not be bogged down in a nightmarish military quagmire in Iraq. And, if I were President, this is exactly how I would handle terrorist organizations such as al Qaeda.

Furthermore, it is absolutely ludicrous to say we are fighting a war on terror half way around the world when we refuse to secure our borders and ports. If I were President, I would immediately seal our borders. I would also see to it that employers in America who knowingly hire illegal aliens are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. In plain language: any employer who consciously hires illegal aliens would go to jail. They would not pass Go; they would not collect $200; they would go straight to jail.

By sealing the borders and by cutting off the money supply to illegal aliens, the problem of illegal immigration would dry up. As it is, we have no idea how many potential terrorists–not to mention violent gang members such as MS-13–have snuck (and are sneaking) through our borders.

And speaking of illegal immigration, as President, I would enforce our visa rules. This means anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. law is immediately deported. There would be no “path to citizenship” given to any illegal alien. That means no amnesty. Not in any shape, manner, or form. I would not allow tax dollars to be used to pay for illegal aliens’ education, social services, or medical care. As President, I would end birthright citizenship for illegal aliens. There would be no “anchor babies” during my administration.

If I were President, I would use the bully pulpit of the White House to encourage Congress to pass Congressman Ron Paul’s Sanctity of Life Act. In short, this bill would do two things: First, it would declare that unborn babies are persons under the law. Second, under the authority of Article. III. Section. 2. of the U.S. Constitution, it would remove abortion from the jurisdiction of the Court. In essence, this bill would immediately overturn Roe v. Wade and end legalized abortion.

Republicans tout themselves as being “pro-life.” Yet, the GOP controlled both houses of Congress and the White House for six years and did absolutely nothing to overturn Roe or end abortion-on-demand. Under my administration, we could end legal abortion in a matter of days, not decades. And if Congress refused to pass Dr. Paul’s bill, I would use the constitutional power of the Presidency to deny funds to protect abortion clinics. Either way, legalized abortion ends when I take office.

On the subject of foreign policy, as President, I would end foreign aid. I would also end the current infatuation with nation-building, empire-building, and interventionism. America is not the world’s policeman. Neither are our military personnel the personal militia of the United Nations.

Remember that President Bush told the U.N. in 2003 that the reason we invaded Iraq was for the purpose of securing the “peace and credibility of the United Nations.” (I lie not; that is what he said.) President Bush also placed the U.S. back under UNESCO in spite of the fact that President Reagan had heroically taken the U.S. out from under that sinister organization.

I am sure that readers recall that the U.N. Charter was authored by a Soviet communist agent (Alger Hiss) and that the U.S. has been fighting wars for the U.N. ever since the organization was created back in 1945.

Speaking of the United Nations, as President, I would withhold funds from the support of the United Nations. In other words, I would get the U.S. out of the U.N. Beyond that, when I move into the White House, the U.N.’s rent is up! They move out of New York City post haste.

By the same token, there is absolutely no reason for us to be in NATO. We should not be antagonizing Russia by attempting to expand NATO. There is no reason why Russia could not become a friend and ally of the United States. Free and fair trade with Russia and a noninterventionist foreign policy in Europe would do much to endear American interests to Russia. To insist on expanding and empowering NATO only serves to further alienate Russia and drive her to make alliances with Communist China.

Speaking of China, it is time that we recognize the very serious threat that China poses to the peace and security of the United States. Our trade practices serve only to allow corporate America to continue to invest in what will surely become an albatross around the neck of our well-being. We must discontinue the practice of allowing China to export its cheap products to the U.S. with no protection for America’s jobs and manufacturing, not to mention the lack of protection for our safety. This must stop, and it will stop when I become President. “Free trade” will no longer mean a free ride for Red China.

Furthermore, as President, I would take the preservation of our nation’s sovereignty and independence extremely seriously. This means that the burgeoning North American Union is dead on arrival the day I am sworn in as President. Gone, too, is the NAFTA superhighway. And for that matter, I would lead the United States out of NAFTA and CAFTA altogether. And any prospect for the FTAA would be dead as well.

As President, I would be the best friend that gun owners (and lawful gun dealers), homeschoolers, and veterans ever had in the White House. These are three of the most persecuted, harassed, or overlooked groups of people in the country. But not if I were President.

There is no reason why our veterans should wait for weeks and months to receive the medical care they need. It is disgraceful that we would ask our brave men and women of the U.S. armed forces to fight our country’s battles and then leave them to pretty much fend for themselves when it comes to receiving adequate health care. I would make taking care of our veterans an extremely high priority, if I were President.

If I were President, I would also do everything in my power to locate and retrieve any and all MIAs. I personally believe that there are hundreds of our servicemen who are yet being held against their will in various parts of the world. I would make finding them and bringing them home of utmost priority, if I were President.

On the home front, if I were President, I would end corporate welfare. I would also work to disband the Department of Energy (along with the Department of Education and many other federal departments). There is absolutely no reason for us to be dependent upon OPEC. There is enough gas and oil under the soil of Alaska (not to mention the Dakotas and the Gulf of Mexico) to meet the energy needs of the United States for the next 150-200 years. There is also no reason that gas should cost more than $1.50 a gallon (which is about what it was before Bush became President).

We must begin drilling for the domestic oil that we know exists; we must build more refineries and nuclear power plants. There is no reason why the United States cannot be mostly energy independent. It is time we started putting the people and interests of the United States ahead of the CEOs and interests of international corporations.

Lastly, if I were President, I would work feverishly to overturn the Sixteenth Amendment, which would repeal the Income Tax. And, no, I would not promote a national sales tax. That would be disastrous! Can you imagine what a 30% sales tax would do to the cost of EVERYTHING? Plus, give politicians a national sales tax to increase and just imagine what kind of percent that would grow into!

I would also work to repeal the “death tax,” inheritance taxes, and property taxes. The American people are already paying somewhere between 30% and 40% of their income to Uncle Sam. It must stop. We are bankrupting our country with this incessant and burdensome tax system. In addition, I would work to expunge the Federal Reserve and to restore the American economy to sound money.

Now, I hear people say, That’s easy for you to say; you are not a candidate for President. Ah, but now I am.

Last week, in its national nominating convention in Kansas City, Missouri, the Constitution Party nominated me as its 2008 Presidential candidate. Party delegates nominated me over Ambassador Alan Keyes by a margin of 74% to 24%. Therefore, I am now a candidate for President of these United States.

I believe it is only fair, as I continue to write these columns, that one understands the full disclosure of my candidacy.

As readers know, I enthusiastically supported Ron Paul during the Republican Primary season. I plan to continue to trumpet his call for limited government, non-interventionism abroad, constitutional government, and freedom into the general election as a Third Party candidate.

I do not expect the national media to pay us much heed; they seldom do. I do not expect to receive large donations from corporate America. I do expect criticism and ridicule. That is nothing new. However, I also anticipate tens of thousands of freedom-loving people from all religious persuasions and walks of life to rally to our cause. Why? Because thousands of principled people will not be bullied into voting for the “evil of two lessers” being shoved down our throats by the two major parties. Because this campaign is not about Chuck Baldwin. It is not about a political party. It is about freedom. It is about constitutional government. It is about restoring America to the founding principles bequeathed to us by our Founding Fathers. If you believe in those principles, join us!

In the meantime, these columns will continue to serve as a voice for America’s founding principles, as they have for the past eight-plus years. In addition, unlike the candidates from the two major parties, the taxpayers are not underwriting my campaign, and I will continue my day job. (Imagine that: a Presidential candidate who actually works for a living!) And all of this is just in time for my 56th birthday, which is tomorrow, May 3.

There you have it: this is what I would do if I were President of these wonderful United States of America.

“My mother did not want a 17th child. So she decided to get rid of me before I was born. Then a marvelous thing happened. My aunt dissuaded her, and so I was permitted to be born. Think of it! I was a miracle!” (Arthur Rubenstein, Pianist).

The facts state that approximately 40 million babies have been aborted in the United States alone. Do you realize that Israel has a population of over 7 million? It is estimated that the Jewish population world-wide is 13.2 million! Our country has a holocaust of its own going on and we are allowing it! Take a look at the top 50 most populated countries in the world and their respective population. When you realize that our country has killed as many babies as the population of one of these countries, it really puts things into perspective. This is an abomination!

Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his children in the fire, after the abominations of the heathen whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel. He sacrificed also and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree. Wherefore the LORD his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and they smote him, and carried away a great multitude of them captives, and brought them to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who smote him with a great slaughter. ~2 Chronicles 28:3-5

Just as Ahaz sacrificed children, was judged and God gave his country over to the king of Syria, so will God judge the United States of sacrificing 40 million precious babies to the god of this world. All for the sake of convenience!

Abortionist Tiller Admits to Performing Abortions the Day Before Delivery
His Speech at National Education Association

By John-Henry Westen

ARLINGTON, VA, March 19, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Notorious partial-birth abortion specialist Dr. George Tiller of Wichita, KS, was caught on hidden video admitting to aborting babies a day before the mother’s due date. Students for Life of America (SFLA) today released the video which was made at the Feminist Majority Foundation’s annual Women’s Leadership Conference held at the National Education Association (NEA) on March 9.

The video reveals Dr. Tiller showcasing massive and graphic pictures of children with fetal abnormalities that he had aborted, so as to make the case for late-term abortions as necessary medical procedure. SFLA’s Executive Director Kristan Hawkins, who videotaped the conference and interviewed Tiller clandestinely, commented on the gruesome pictures of aborted children Tiller showed, saying, “One had an extra arm: could not that child had survived and received corrective surgery? Was violently killing the child the only way to go?”

“Pro-lifers are regularly condemned for displaying pictures of aborted babies, but here the pro-abortion crowd and the NEA are more than happy to showcase these graphic images, and even gave Dr. Tiller’s presentation a standing ovation,” added Hawkins.

Tiller, who currently faces 19 criminal charges for illegal late-term abortions in the state of Kansas, at first feigned ignorance of the Born Alive Infants Protection Act, a federal bill signed into law in 2002 that protects born children from murder and illegalizes infanticide. However when questioned further about the measure he spoke of his ideological objection to the legislation, saying, “Let’s say you have 15 or 16, you had 1 slip out with a heartbeat; that is not a viable fetus, but that is born alive or has a heartbeat. Then you have to take that non-viable fetus and rush it directly to the hospital against the woman’s wishes.”

Update: Call for Total Decriminalisation of Abortion in all 47 Council of Europe States
Mandatory sex education for young people also recommended

By Hilary White

STRASBOURG, March 19, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), has now officially recommended that those few countries in Europe that still restrict abortions should guarantee unrestricted access to abortion.

The draft resolution from the Committee on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men says countries should “decriminalise abortion, if they have not already done so.” The Committee also recommended that sex education be made mandatory for young people.

The report from the Committee calls for the decriminalisation of abortion in all 47 member states and uses the list of justifications that are familiar to pro-life activists around the world: many “unsafe”, illegal abortions, a need for more artificial contraception to reduce abortion rates and “discrimination” against women in countries where the unborn have legal protection.

The Committee criticised even those legal restrictions that did not specifically prohibit abortion, saying, “The repeated medical consultations required, the time allowed for changing one’s mind and the waiting time for the abortion all have the potential to make access to abortion more difficult, or even impossible in practice”.

“A ban on abortions does not result in fewer abortions, but mainly leads to clandestine abortions, which are more traumatic and more dangerous. The lawfulness of abortion does not have an effect on a woman’s need for an abortion, but only on her access to a safe abortion,” the report said.

The PACE Committee’s report is scheduled for debate in the Assembly’s plenary session from 14 to 18 of April.

Some conservative Austrian members of the Council of Europe are reported to be formulating a response to the resolution but no objections were raised in the Committee’s deliberations.

(CNSNews.com) – After reviewing materials posted on Planned Parenthood’s teenwire.com Web site at the request of Cybercast News Service, three House Republicans are calling for the termination of Planned Parenthood’s federal funding. Among other things, teenwire promotes the use of pornography by teenagers.

Rep. Doug Lamborn (R.-Colo.) said teenwire “is another reason we should pull all federal funding from Planned Parenthood,” a group that also performs abortions.

“There should be no money that goes to any Internet site that promotes promiscuity or sexual license in any way,” Rep. Steve King (R.-Iowa) told Cybercast News Service.

“I don’t believe taxpayer funding should be going to groups that put sexually explicit material on the Internet targeted at minors,” Rep. Joseph Pitts (R.-Pa.), chairman of the House Values Action Team, said.

The congressmen spoke to Cybercast News Service after reviewing materials from Planned Parenthood’s teenwire.com, which says its mission is to provide “medically accurate” information about sex to teenagers.

MATTERS OF LIFE AND DEATH
‘Miracle’ baby arrives after abortion recommended
Review ordered after unborn incorrectly diagnosed as blind, deaf

An urgent review has been ordered into hospital procedures after an unborn baby diagnosed with rhomboencephalosynapsis, a rare and serious brain disease, was born without handicap to parents who now call him their “miracle.”

The case developed in the Fetal Medicine Unit at University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, where doctors first thought the baby known as Brandon Kramer, and who now is teething and trying to talk, had Down’s Syndrome, according to a new report in the Daily Mail in the United Kingdom.

They later diagnosed the more rare brain condition after they determined he suffered from a swollen head and hydrocephalus while in the womb. They said tests showed his condition worsening, and they recommended to the parents that he be aborted.

The newspaper cited medical notes written by pediatric neurologist Dr. Cathy White shortly before Brandon’s birth:

“Rhomboencephalosynapsis is an extraordinarily rare congenital abnormality and this, therefore, makes it very difficult to predict the long-term outcome for this baby,” she wrote.

“I have explained to them [the parents] that children with this condition are likely to be profoundly handicapped with severe physical and learning disabilities and will be totally dependent for the whole of their life,” she continued. “They often need the level of care given to babies for the whole of their lives.”

Brandon’s mother, Becky Weatherall, and father, Kriss Kramer, were offered “termination” because of the diagnosis and doctors’ expectations he would be born deaf and blind and would survive no more than a few hours.

The report said, however, Brandon was born naturally and quickly given a clean bill of health after being examined by a team of specialists.

A member of a message board I belong to brought this article to my attention. He posted a personal testimony that really blessed me:

This article really hit home for me. 15 years ago my as yet born daughter was diagnosed with hydocephalus and we were informed that she would be at least moderately retarded and that we should abort as it would not be fair to her to have to live such a life, and it would be very difficult on us.

Abortion was not an option!

We now have a beautiful 14 year old girl that is equal to her peers in almost all areas. When born I could not even get a glimpse of my little girl because the doctors and nurses enveloped her in disbelief at her perfect condition. They told us this should never have happened. They obviously did not know the Great Physician! No medical college can teach and no doctor can learn what God can do.

Doctors have their place and they can make our physical life more comfortable, but God is the keeper of the keys and prayer and fasting is the best medicine. I thank God that He answers prayer!

An artist killed herself after aborting her twins when she was eight weeks pregnant, leaving a note saying: “I should never have had an abortion. I see now I would have been a good mum.”

Emma Beck was found hanging at her home in Helston, Cornwall, on Feb 1 2007. She was declared dead early the following day – her 31st birthday.

Her suicide note read: “I told everyone I didn’t want to do it, even at the hospital. I was frightened, now it is too late. I died when my babies died. I want to be with my babies: they need me, no-one else does.”

The inquest at Truro City Hall heard that Miss Beck had split up with her boyfriend, referred to as “Ben” after he “reacted badly” to the pregnancy.

She saw her GP before the termination, but missed an appointment at a hospital in Penzance. She then cancelled, but later turned up to an appointment at a clinic at Royal Cornwall Hospital in Treliske. The counsellor was on holiday so a doctor referred Miss Beck to a pregnancy counselling telephone service eight days before carrying out the abortion when she was eight weeks pregnant, the inquest heard.

The coroner, Dr Emma Carlyon, ordered that the identities of the doctor who performed the abortion and her lead consultant be kept secret.

The inquest heard that Sylvia Beck, the victim’s mother, wrote to the hospital after her daughter’s death, saying: “I want to know why she was not given the opportunity to see a counsellor.

“She was only going ahead with the abortion because her boyfriend did not want the twins.

“I believe this is what led Emma to take her own life – she could not live with what she had done.”

The doctor said: “I discussed Emma’s situation with her, and wrote on the form, ‘Unsupported, lives alone, ex-partner aware’.

“It is normal practice to give a woman the number for telephone counselling when a counsellor is not available.

“I am satisfied that everything was done to make sure that Emma consented to the operation.

She added: “We have since appointed more counsellors so there is more holiday cover.”

Katie Gibbs, Miss Beck’s GP, told the hearing: “She was extremely distressed by the abortion procedure, and I didn’t think she ever came to terms with it.

“She had a long history of anxiety and depression. Despite my best efforts, she was not willing to see a counsellor after the termination.”

Her boss at the clinic, said: “The time that can be given to a woman by a counsellor is limited in a busy hospital.

“I am satisfied everything was done to make sure Emma was consenting to surgery. I don’t feel there was any gap in the counselling service.

“There were lots of individuals who would be alert to any doubts. The comments made by Emma’s mother are not about a doctor I recognise.”

Mrs Beck told the court: “Emma was considered a talented artist, and sold a number of paintings.

“She was pleased when she became pregnant, but Ben reacted badly to the news.”

Recording a verdict of suicide, Dr Carlyon said: “It is clear that a termination can have a profound effect on a woman’s life.

“But I am reassured by the evidence of the doctors here.”

An unborn child has less legal protection from feeling pain than commercial livestock!
Taken at
National Right To Live

Between weeks 20 and 30, an unborn child has more pain receptors per square inch than at any other time, before or after birth, with only a very thin layer of skin for protection.

This is absolutely heart breaking! Please take a moment to read this publication by the NRLC. It shows you when a baby starts to feel pain. The liberals and the world would have women believe that this baby is only a “fetus” and is not a life!! 🙁 My heart breaks to think of how many millions of babies this country aborts on a yearly basis – each baby felt every bit of the pain the doctor imposes on him during an abortion!

Save the baby whales and save the baby seals but God forbid that anyone would save the baby humans!

When I was in college, a friend of mine—a conservative columnist who wrote for a decidedly liberal student paper—was fired. The reasons given by the editors were unconvincing, and kept changing; the bottom line was that they just didn’t like his politics. But one claim they made still stands out in my memory. They accused him of fabricating a quote from a woman with a group called Women Exploited by Abortion (WEBA): “I killed my baby.” At first he was told “No woman would ever say that;” later, that it was “libelous.” The column was never published.

The fact is, though, lots of women say exactly what that woman did — and even more of them feel it, very deeply. If you have any doubts, read David Reardon’s Aborted Women, Silent No More, originally published in 1987 and just re-released by Acorn Books.

It may sound strange to speak of “aborted” women, since it’s actually their children who were aborted. But Reardon — who heads the Elliott Institute, specializing in post-abortion research — understands that the women have also been subjected to a type of violence, both physical and spiritual. So he spends some pages simply letting them tell their own stories. Listen, first, to their voices:

Alice: [After the abortion] I didn’t realize why I felt bad. My boyfriend took me home. It wasn’t long after I got home that I knew — it just hit me — that I had killed my baby. . . . I had six years of depression after my abortion. . . . I hated myself. . . . A lot of times I wanted to die. . . .

Carol: One night Jim’s band was playing at a local club and he insisted I go with him. Up to that point [since the abortion] I hadn’t left the house. . . . people still thought I was pregnant. One of the wives came up and said, “You must be thrilled! When’s the due date?” I about died and had to think fast. My emotions about it all were rushing again; and as I looked at Jim, I could honestly say that I hated him. First the abortion and now this! I knew I’d have to lie in order to protect his rapport with our peers. I sadly told her that I had miscarried. We left shortly thereafter because I couldn’t handle the sympathy these people were giving to me — me, a murderer!

Sarah: The thought of having a defective baby . . . was enough to drive me to kill. That says a lot about my morally bankrupt condition.

Those feelings are undeniably real. The most hardened feminists will say they’re misplaced, a product of religious propaganda. And in fact, the women quoted above have embraced Christianity — but after their abortions. Prior to that, and often for years afterward, many who now oppose abortion were active feminists, abortion-rights activists, even atheists. It wasn’t Christianity that first made them feel the guilt. It was personal experience.

Karen: I was twelve weeks pregnant, so they performed a suction abortion. They inserted dilators into my cervix, one after the other, until the largest one was as big around as my little finger. It was really, really painful. . . . They turned on the suction machine. I could feel the baby being torn from my insides. . . . three-quarters of the way through the operation, I sat up. To my right and down, I saw the tube that led out of me, from the vacuum aspirator, and it led into a little glass cylinder. In the cylinder I saw bits and pieces of my little child floating in a pool of blood. I screamed and jumped up off the table. They took me into another room and I started vomiting. They responded by offering me Seven-Up and cookies. It was all just repulsive to me, and I couldn’t stop throwing up.

How many women feel the same way? There’s no way to know; studies are hindered by the natural reluctance of many women to talk about their experience, and of abortionists to cooperate with all but the most sympathetic researchers. Yet even studies by abortion-rights supporters (Reardon cites specific examples) have found substantial numbers feeling “guilty” or “dirty,” confused, violated, sad, lost.

Several studies show one in 10 women who get abortions are subsequently hospitalized for clinical depression or other psychological consequences related to abortion. (Among WEBA women surveyed, the number rose: One in five reported a “nervous breakdown” or “complete mental breakdown.”) For each of those women, numerous others suffer untreated through a string of broken relationships, alternating promiscuity or sexual frigidity, heavy drinking, drugs — behaviors that often were nonexistent or far less pronounced prior to the abortion.

Most important, these problems don’t go away or lessen with the passage of time. On the contrary, Reardon says, they get worse. While abortion supporters say women’s primary feeling after abortion is relief, follow-up studies show that regrets, guilt and other emotional consequences grow more severe years down the line. In fact, Reardon writes after reviewing studies from sources with a variety of views on abortion,

The trend is clear to anyone who looks. The negative, WEBA-like abortion experience is the rule rather than the exception. Many aborted women will deny it by hiding their emotions and telling little or nothing of their experience. Others may hide it behind the anger and bitterness they feel toward other persons who were involved, especially the male. But most will admit they are troubled. They simply don’t know what to do other than to try to forget it and move on.

And forgetting it doesn’t work. Not even in sleep, where persistent nightmares about aborted children are common. The sight of a child is enough to spark deep sadness and tears. And then there are cases like Carol’s, while waiting for a doctor’s exam five years after her last abortion:

After the nurse left the room, I started looking around, checking things out. To my shock and complete loss of control, I saw, two feet from my left foot, a suction aspirator machine! I freaked out. I had a total flashback of my abortion experience. I began crying uncontrollably, got up, dressed, and ran out into the hall, hyperventilating. I found the nurse and was near hysteria as I explained why I couldn’t go back in there. She understood, and tried comforting me, reassuring me their office did not do abortions but that the machine was used for other purposes. She took the machine out of the room. I returned shaken and surprised at my lack of self-control. I wonder . . . will it ever end?

This doesn’t mean it’s impossible to recover from abortion. Thousands of pregnancy-care centers across the country help not only in giving women alternatives to abortion, but also in counseling those dealing with its aftermath. Healing, however, can’t come without first facing the reality of what abortion is. And that’s just what women are doing when they say “I killed my baby.”

It’s no mystery why people don’t want to face that: They can’t believe they could be forgiven. Yet here’s where Christianity comes in. Again, the Christian faith isn’t the source of guilt; that comes from what the Apostle Paul calls the law written on men’s hearts. But it is the source of healing — the only place where genuine forgiveness can be found. As Reardon has written elsewhere, before the abortion, Christ condemns it and Satan makes excuses for it. After the abortion, Satan is the one condemning it while Christ forgives it.

That redemptive theme recurs throughout Reardon’s book, making it — for all the ugliness he’s forced to depict — an ultimately uplifting work. Listen to one more voice:

Ila: The legalization of abortion and its rise to social acceptability did nothing to ease the loss and emptiness I felt. Eventually I became so lonely, guilt-ridden, and desperate, that I saw suicide as the only way out of my torment. I overdosed on Valium and Jack Daniels. When my suicide attempt failed, I was admitted to an alcohol rehabilitation program. . . . I prayed for the first time in years, and my prayer was answered. I suddenly realized there was a God out there, and he heard me. . . . My heart began to be filled with joy and hope. . . .

Today I know I must do all I can to help stop legal abortion in this country. I do this by speaking to groups and by reaching out to aborted women, helping them find the one answer to the emotional hell that follows abortions: forgiveness through Jesus Christ. Only in Him do I have hope for my babies who have died, and for my husband and son who live.

Born after a failed abortionby FIONA MACRAE

This picture is of Gianna Jessen: Born after a failed abortion

One in 30 babies aborted for medical reasons is born alive, a study has found.

They lived for an average of 80 minutes – although in some cases foetuses survived for over six hours.

Most of the babies were born between 20 and 24 weeks of pregnancy, but some had been in the womb for as little as 17 weeks.

The figures, based on a study of West Midlands hospitals, has reignited the abortion debate, with pro-life campaigners demanding the time limit for terminations be cut.

Researchers looked at the outcome of 3,189 abortions performed on seriously handicapped foetuses at 20 hospitals between 1995 and 2004.

It showed that 102 – or around one in 30 – aborted for reasons such as Down’s Syndrome and heart defects, were born alive.

Abortions are allowed to be carried out if the pregnancy is shown to have an adverse effect on the mental health and wellbeing of the mother up until the 24th week of pregnancy.

Beyond this point, the procedure is only sanctioned if the baby has a severe disability or if the mother’s life is at risk.

The latest study, carried out by experts from the West Midlands Perinatal Institute and published in the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, showed that three per cent of aborted disabled babies were born alive.

Most of the abortions studied were medical abortions. These involve a women being given a series of pills, taken in two doses two days apart.

The first dose, a single tablet of mifepristone, blocks the pregnancy hormones that normally ensure the womb’s lining holds on to the fertilised egg. The second dose, of four tablets containing hormone-like prostaglandins, triggers contractions and a miscarriage.

The death of the baby is a result of the trauma of the early birth, rather than the tablets itself, meaning, in rare occasions, some babies may survive the process.

From 22 weeks, the tablets should be preceded by a lethal injection into the baby’s heart to ensure the baby is dead before the procedure goes any further.

If these babies are born alive, it suggests they weren’t given the heart-stopping injection – perhaps because the doctor thought it would have been too traumatic for the mother. The figures follow several studies which show that babies born at 23 and 24 weeks are capable of surviving.

While there is no suggestion that any of the babies documented in the West Midlands study lived for more than a few hours, doctors in Norwich are currently treating a toddler born at 24 weeks after three botched terminations.

He was born three years ago and is still alive.

Campaigners said it was likely the Midlands figures were just the tip of the iceberg as the region only accounts for around a tenth of the babies born in the country each year.

In addition, the study only looked at babies whose lives were ended because of disability.

However, most abortions are carried out on ‘healthy’ babies for social reasons. Julia Millington of the pro-life group Alive and Kicking said: “This can’t just be happening in the West Midlands.

“It begs the question of how many healthy babies must be surviving? It would suggest the true figure must be much higher.

“With live births after abortion occurring in 18 out of the 20 maternity units in the West Midlands alone, it is difficult to comprehend the numbers of babies around the country left fighting for their lives.”

Babies born alive after abortion are entitled to medical care. However, anti-abortion campaigners claim that some are so unwanted, they are simply left to die.

The Department of Health said that key medical associations agreed that the time limit for abortion did not need to be changed.

• Thirty years ago, Gianna Jessen’s mother had an abortion when seven-and-a-half months pregnant.

The abortion failed and, 18 hours later, Gianna (pictured) was born alive.

She suffered cerebral palsy as a result of the botched abortion, yet has defied doctors’ predictions that she would never walk.

In fact she has run a marathon, is an accomplished singer and writer and travels the world to campaign against abortion.

Her mother was 17 when she decided to have the abortion. Weighing 2lbs when she was born, she spent several months in hospital fighting for her life, before being placed in a foster home.

Her cerebral palsy, which was caused by her brain being starved of oxygen during the abortion, was diagnosed at 17 months old. Doctors said she would never be able to crawl or even sit-up unaided, much less stand or walk.

Now, after several operations and years of physiotherapy she has proved them wrong. Gianna does not know why her natural mother chose to abort her.

She said: “If abortion is about women’s rights, then what were my rights?

“No decision is solely yours to make. All decisions affect another human being – whether it is for good or for ill.

“If people are going to talk about abortion, then it’s important for them to know that these babies can be born alive and survive.”
